The king's anger still simmered as he turned to leave, but Queen Lirien's voice stopped him. "Everard, wait!"
King Everard turned to face his wife, his expression still fierce. "My dear, I must see to this. Those responsible for attacking our son will pay dearly."
Queen Lirien's eyes flashed with concern. "You're not thinking clearly, Everard. We've just gotten Ryker back, and you're rushing off to battle? What if something happens to you? What will become of our son then?"
The king's face softened slightly as he looked at his wife. "I'll be fine, my love. I must protect our family and our kingdom."
Queen Lirien stepped forward, her voice firm but gentle. "Protecting our family and kingdom doesn't always mean taking up arms yourself. Sometimes it means being wise and strategic. Let the knights handle this. You need to focus on your health and Ryker's recovery."
The king's expression faltered, and he looked at his son, who was watching the exchange with interest. Johnathan could see the conflict in the king's eyes, and he knew the queen's words had struck a chord.
"Very well, my dear," the king said finally, his voice resigned. "I'll let the knights handle it. then he turned to the knight and said "I want regular updates, and I want those responsible brought to justice."
The knight commander Brent nodded, "I'll make sure you're kept informed, you do not have to worry my lord you can focus on the crown prince recovery."and a small smile can be seen on the king's face.
The king nodded, and turned their attention to his son, who was watching the situation with a mix of curiosity and gratitude. Johnathan knew he had a lot to learn about his new family and his role as Crown Prince Ryker.
