Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

 The Prince

 I heard muffled

screams, a voice yelling my name but all I see is darkness as if my eyes are

glued closed. I try to open them, when I do, all I see is my mother holding my

little brother on her hip trying to wake me up while fire rages outside the

window. Angry growls and pained howls ring throughout the pack buildings.

 "Kenai! My love

please wake up we have to leave," my mother whisper shouts as she shakes me to

wake me up.

 "Why mommy?" I ask my

voice sleepy as I get up and hurry to get dressed.

 "We're being attacked

my darling, please hurry, I promised your father I would take you and your

brother somewhere safe. I have to make sure our other pack members are safe to

take them." She said sounding worried and frightened. Hearing her say those

words made me get dressed faster and once I was done; we ran out of the house

to go look for pack members that hadn't been killed only to walk into utter

chaos.

 Fire was everywhere;

my mother's hand was shaking in my own. When I looked up at her, her red eyes

were wide with fear, an emotion I rarely saw on her face. She picked me up

swiftly and ran towards a building that was meant to house those who were

unable to fight the enemy who had somehow gotten into our pack in the middle of

the night.

 "Luna! You're here,

thank the goddess. Alpha just left to help the others fight the rouges. We're

the only ones left that hadn't died, some of us are injured though." Laila said

as she led us to the injured pack members. She was the head maid of the pack

house and the pack head healer as well, though her healing wasn't as good as my

mothers.

 "Take Koda so I can

heal them, Kenai my love, help me heal them, will you?" My mother asked. I

looked up at her with an excited expression because she was finally going to

teach me how to use healing magic even if it wasn't in the best of

circumstances.

 "Okay mommy!" I said

excitedly as I watched my mother and followed her movements. She lifted her

arms in front of her and closed her eyes; as she did blue orbs circled her

before they flew over to the injured and landed on the injuries and healed them

instantly.

 Before I could follow

her lead the doors were shoved open and my mother stood in front of me to keep

me hidden from whoever opened the doors so harshly. "Well, well, well, isn't

this a surprise? The infamous Luna of the Blood River Pack hiding in a shed.

Let's see just how powerful you really are. I will have fun making you beg for

mercy." A man said as he walked into the building earning a growl from my

mother.

I knew what that kind of

growl meant, it was from her dragon, and she was pissed. "Speak what you will,

but you will not hurt them." She said as swords instantly appeared in her

hands.

 "Bold words for a

little Luna," the man said, he thought mother was a little Luna? He is highly

mistaken if he can beat mother in a fight, let alone speak another word when

dealing with her. She was raised as an assassin at the age of four and had

powers she rarely used, she could wield fire, water, air and earth as well as

use magic and many other types of powers. She is what most of our pack called

the Princess of Darkness as many others who found themselves on the wrong end

of her blades. She is extremely skilled in the art of torture and murder; the

blood on her hands knew no end as she had killed many men before meeting my

father and became his wife and had me and my brother.

 "Mommy, be careful

pwease," I said as I clung to her leg in fear at the man. He had a big jagged

scar on his face from his left temple to the right side of his jaw. He was a

bear of a man, probably standing tall at six foot two, bald and ugly and he

smelled bad, like sewer water and rotten fish mixed with rotten eggs. Not a

pleasant scent, though that is expected from a rogue werewolf as they have no

pack to call home and listen to no one but themselves or whoever claimed

leadership.

 "Kenai, go to Laila

and help her get everyone out, remember what I taught you," my mother told me

without looking at me as she started to walk up to the burly man who thought so

little of her.

 Without questioning

her I went to Laila and helped her get everyone out of the building using my shield

magic and cloaking us all. Before I walked out of the building, I turned around

only to see my mother standing over the man with his head in her hand and blood

staining her black satin dress and her skin with a sickening smile plastered on

her face and her eyes a bright blood red. Her hair cascading down to her hips

in waves and sparkling like tiny diamonds in the firelight as the fire painted

her in a light that made her look like an angry goddess.

 The other men who

walked in with him stared at my mother in complete terror as they watched her

burn their leaders head before dropping it and before I knew it the other men

were on the ground with their heads cut off in an instant. I had never been so

scared of my mother in my life as I was right then.

 The second she turned

around and I saw her red eyes everything went black.

I woke up in a cold

sweat, panting heavily as my heart beat frantically in my chest. I clicked my

tongue and got out of bed trying to calm myself down. "It was just a dream,

everything is fine." I told myself as I walked to my mirror hanging on my

closet door looking at my reflection. I only wore sweatpants to bed because my

wolf and dragon make my body hot while I sleep. If it weren't for them, someone

would think I would've died had they walked in on a day that I was asleep

because when I'm not asleep, my body is cold and my heart doesn't beat which

makes me an easy target for bullying according to one kid at school.

 I turn from the

mirror and look at my alarm clock, its midnight, meaning my mother might be

training my brothers right now on how to shift into their dragons or just some

new moves. I would assume that she's giving them lessons on new moves to

improve their strength.

 "We should go and

meet up with them, teach them how to do it too," my dragon Aragon said as my

wolf, vampire, and fae agreed. I sighed and put on a black tank and tennis

shoes before walking out my room and out the front of the pack house to the

training arena.

 "Maybe

we'll get to play with Koda and Zion, do you think Jonah will be there too? I

know he's only three but it isn't too early to teach him a little fire bending

right?" Asked my wolf Ares as he wagged his tail excitedly in my head.

 "Don't be ridiculous

he's not nearly old enough to even try bending such a dangerous thing, we

should teach him how to water bend it's safer and so much easier to learn, like

air bending." My fae Rowan countered his white hair and icy blue eyes glaring

at Ares like he was a crazy puppy.

 "Well excuse me for

wanting to have a little fun Ro," Ares growled.

 "Can you both shut

up? You're making my head pound," I told them as I walked into the arena right

as my mother was pinning my brothers to the ground on their stomachs.

 "I give!" Koda said

as Zion agreed both whimpering from being held down by a trained assassin who

is our mother.

 "You two should be

better at this, you've been training for a year now, you should have gotten

these moves down by now." My mother said as she let them go as she stood up and

went over to a crying Jonah.

 "It's not fair, you

weren't this hard on Kenai while teaching him those moves." Zion pouted as our

mother laughed.

 "That's because your

brother is determined to become stronger than even me, though he still has a

lot to learn about control so don't worry, you'll get to his level soon enough,

but you both need to work harder. Unless you want uncle Jin to teach you?"

Mother said as she picked up my youngest brother into her arms and giving him a

sippy cup full of milk which he drank happily.

 "I never understood

that, why is he so determined to become stronger and please not him, any of our

uncles but him. He's almost as scary as you are." Koda said as Zion nodded his

head in agreement both shivering at the thought of our uncle Jin teaching them

how to fight.

 "It's because I want

to be able to protect everyone without having to worry about losing anyone," I

said as I got closer to them watching their expressions go from fear and worry

to excited.

 "Big brother! Happy

birthday!" They said in unison and ran up to me hugging me tightly.

 "Happy birthday my

darling," mom said walking up to me with a happy smile on her face. "You're

looking more and more like your father every year," she wipes a hair from in

front of my eyes before placing a kiss on my forehead.

 "He's eighteen today

isn't he mama?" Zion asks her as he tilts his head to the side his snow-colored

bangs sweeping in front of his ivory-colored eyes as he does so.

 "He is my love," she

giggles. I will never get tired of hearing my mother's laughing voice or her

giggling. Her voice is so soft that it sounds like she's speaking with tiny

delicate bells instead of vocal cords.

 "Hey mom? Can I talk

to you, alone?" I ask her with a sad tone and look in my eyes.

 She looks at me and

stops smiling, her eyes filled with sadness and pain, "It's about the

nightmare, isn't it?" She sighs looking heartbroken.

 All I could give her

was a small nod and my brothers took that as their cue to leave as Koda took

Jonah from her and left the arena. Once they were out of ear shot, I explained

the nightmare to her as tears welled up in her crimson eyes. The eyes in my

dream that held a blood thirsty look that terrified me now looks at me with

pain and sadness.

 My mother never

recovered from that, she apologized to me countless times for scaring me so bad

and she changed her eye color to her mother's sapphire blue until I told her

that I was no longer scared and that the color red stopped affecting me.

 "So that's where it

ended this time, it's going further and further. I'm sorry you had to see that

side of me again, even though it was in a dream of the past. I promise you that

I thought you had left the building with Laila and everyone else before I

killed them. You won't be sleeping again until sometime next year, so you don't

have to worry about seeing that again for a while." She pulled me into a hug as

she patted my head. My mother is Queen Ameliana Sardothien, aka Layla Setherin,

aka, The Princess of Darkness.

 She's a vampire, fae,

and dragon tribrid; a true immortal. She can't die, doesn't eat, doesn't drink

and she doesn't need to sleep, ever. Except for one day a year which is

completely unknown of when it will happen until it's too late. My brothers and

I are like her too, true immortals that can't die and are nothing like humans

in the slightest, physically anyway. We can do everything a human can do but

way more reckless because we don't have to worry about dying or losing a limb

because we heal instantly and we don't feel physical pain at all.

 All are perks but

there are times we wish we could feel them all, my heart only beats before,

during and after I sleep, the rest of the time it's just there, waiting for me

to fall asleep. We also don't breathe, which means we don't get tired like everyone

else does and that passes to our dragons, fae's, vampire's and wolves. Speaking

of which my vampire sprite is really quiet today; I wonder what he's up to.

 "I'm just watching

and reading on some magic and sword techniques that we could use to get stronger,

don't worry about it. Let's just enjoy our sixteenth birthday, we get to find

our mate this year, whoever she may be." My sprite Vlad says in his dark tone

that he usually airs out.

 "Or he, you didn't

forget that we're bi right?" Aragon questions Vlad in our space, his wings a night

sky black that sparkled like stars and his eyes a golden color that he shared

with Ares, both are giants while Vlad and Rowan look like mere ants compared to

them.

 "No, I didn't forget,

I just would prefer it if we were mated to a woman, being around you and Ares

has made me grow tired of being around men. Don't you agree Rowan?" Vlad inquires

as he looks up from the book about swordsmanship in his hands.

 "I have no comments,

as long as we are with someone who will treat us like we should be treated I

don't much care who is chosen for us," Rowan says as he gets out his silver

flute and starts to play a haunting tune.

 "Very true," Ares,

Aragon and Vlad say before becoming quiet listening to Rowan play and I focus

back on my mother.

 "Do you think, that

my mate will still love me knowing about my nightmares?" I ask her tugging on

my bangs a bit. Something I always did when I was nervous or afraid of

something happening.

 "Whoever they are

will love you just for being you, I just hope you do the same for them," she

smiles at me happily but I could see a hint of sorrow in her eyes that meant

she was thinking of my father, her first mate Zion Eurylochus Johan who my

brother Zion was named after, my middle name is Johan instead of my last name

because my mother wanted my last name to be her maiden name as well as my

brothers.

 It's the same with my

youngest brother Jonah but with his father's name, my mother's second mate who

I call dad. My father died when I was five years old, the night my nightmare

keeps showing every year when I sleep. Because of my nightmare I barely

remember what my father was like. Koda knows and tells me what he remembers and

tells Zion what he was like because Zion was still in our mother's womb when it

happened.

 "Let's get you

started on some training my darling boy. Everyone will want to crowd you for

your birthday and I know Alex has a surprise for you when he wakes up." She

says as she smiles at me.

 "Okay mom," I smile

at her and walk with her to the center of the arena to start our training.

'I hope I get to meet

my mate this year.'
