Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Epilogue

7 years later…

''Kids, lunch is ready!''

As the years passed, Jaune, now bearing a much older and mature vestige from his younger days back in Beacon, laid the last of the utensil and plates on the large spherical mahogany table, watching with a loving smile on his handsome bearded face at the group of five kids storming into the dining room after hearing his call. Taking each of their seats on the chairs.

''Yay! Daddy finally finished making food! Let's eat, let's eat, I'm starving~''

''C'mon, Oliver, Mother has told you many times to watch your table manners. Can't you learn at at all?''

''Aww. Why should I? Besides, my mom said the way I eat is just fine, hmph!''

''Mother said your mom needs to learn table manners as well. I don't think you should take her words as matter of fact.''

''Hey! My mom's table manners are just fine as it is! Stop being mean, Nicolas!''

''Now, now, you two should stop arguing all the time over the same topic over and over again like this.'' Seeing them going at it again, Jaune sighed helplessly and reprimanded the two boys as they obediently listened and stopped arguing immediately.

Honestly, Jaune didn't understand why they inherited this trait of all things from their mothers.

Oliver and Nicolas were born from Ruby and Weiss, and bear much of their mother's appearance and even personality traits respectively. Something he noticed quite often shows up when they are together.

Oliver was black-haired, and his most noticeable feature was the rare silver eyes inherited from his mother, Ruby. The boy did inherit his nose and facial features though. As for Nicolas, the boy had the Arc blonde hair and blue eyes… Admittedly, it was something he didn't expect since before Nicolas was born—he always pictured a union between him and Weiss would result in the Schnee pale white hair due to their dominant heritage.

But it seems the Arc heritage was just as strong! Jaune smirks at the thought. That said, his son also inherited much from his mother as well—such as the pale skin, the Schnee love for elegance, and of course the Schnee attitude, strange as it is to mention, but it is very easy to pick up on.

''Daddy, daddy! This stake is too tough to eat, can you cut it into smaller pieces for me?''

''Coming.'' Hearing his daughter calling him, Jaune snaps out of his muse and heads to her.

As Jaune moved toward them, his other kid sitting right next to the daughter asking for his help, looked at his sister and frowned. ''Vernal, can't you cut it yourself instead of asking Dad to do it all the time?''

''Why should I when Dad can help cut it for me.'' Vernal said to her brother, bearing an almost identical appearance to her except their difference in gender. Her brother grumbled at her, ''Geez, you sound so needy all the time. Are we truly twins?''

''You tell me, are we, Verto!?'' Vernal snapped at her identical twin.

Verto glared at his twin sister, but just as he was about to retort back, a large hand came from behind them and grasped hold of them in a gentle hug. Knowing it was their father, they instantly stopped and saw him looking at them with a kind loving fatherly smile.

''Hey now, no fighting.'' Jaune said, the fatherly smile never left him.

''Alright, dad.'' Both the twins promptly answer.

He then proceeds to help cut apart his daughter's stake, seeing her eyes glitter with joy as his smallest action made him happy. While Verto, noticing the way his sister was reacting, snickered at the exaggerating sight, inwardly calling her needy once more.

Letting his twin continue their eating, Jaune's warm smile never left his face. The twins were born from Blake and him, and unlike their half-siblings Nicolas, they share a more apparent characteristic resemblance to their mother, with their nose belonging to him.

Other than that, both twins had black-haired and a very prominent heritage from their non-human Faunus side—such as their animal features—mainly their cat ears. And they both also were born with beautiful amber eyes. He always gushed over them because of it, since it was one of the things he loved about their mother, and complimented her on it on a daily basis. Of course, her turning bright red due to embarrassment also factors into that.

And finally, Jaune's attention darted over to his last and oldest child, sitting across from the twins. Notice the intense stare his son was sending his way, Jaune chuckled from amusement and proceeded to head to him.

''So does Victor also want dad to cut the stake for you?''

At the question, his son, Victor, tried to hide his embarrassment by turning his reddened face to the side. Which of course only elicited more amusing chuckles from him. However, knowing his oldest son wasn't one to express many words when requesting for help, Jaune didn't need an answer to start cutting the stake into a smaller piece for him.

As he was just about done with cutting the stake into small cubic sizes, Victor, watching his father, softly uttered with his still child-like voice. ''Thank you, dad.'' Jaune only faintly smiled, gently ruffling his hair.

Victor was born from him and Yang, and obviously share their blonde hair. And to his victory over his wife, Victor inherited his clear blue eyes instead of lilac color. But unlike Jaune's pale white complexion, his complexion was lean toward looking fair like his mother. So according to Yang, it even out the score.

Other than those, another thing which astonished both him and Yang was Victor's personality.

Victor, was not only the oldest but unlike his other siblings, was less bold and seemed rather shy at times. Which completely shocked Yang since it was the exact opposite of her bold and confident personality. Sometimes even making her contemplate if this was her son or not, if she hadn't personally experienced the long and painful process of giving birth to the boy.

However, while Victor may act less bold and sort of shy around them, surprisingly enough… When it comes to his younger step-siblings, Victor always seems to be able to easily take charge. Sometimes, when he left them to their own devices, he would come back and stumble upon the boy caring and watching over his younger step-siblings as the eldest.

Jaune appreciates that trait about his oldest son, and Yang even more so since it reminded her of how when she was young, as the elder sister, she would watch over and care for Ruby after their mother's passing and their dad fell into depression for a period of time.

Watching his wonderful kids eating together at the large table, Jaune tends to wonder how he manages to deserve them all.

Musing to himself, Victor, his oldest, suddenly gazed at him and said. ''Dad… mom will be back tomorrow, what are you going to make for the feast?'' At the mention of their mom, the other four kids whip their excited gaze at his direction.

''Ah, tomorrow is Saturday. It's the day where mom took time off her busy schedule running the SDC to visit for the weekend.''

''Yey! I miss seeing mom!''

''Right! Mom will be back tomorrow, I want her to teach me all her cool moves!''

''Cool moves? Vernal, didn't you learn from the last time after crying for hours when injuring yourself trying to replicate mom's moves.''

''Shut up, Verto! I told you not to mention that again!''

''Haa… They get so worked up every time there's a mention of their mother coming back for the weekend.'' Seeing them at it again after calming them down, Jaune sighs, shaking his head with an amusing smile.

He could understand though. After all, due to their busy jobs Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Weiss couldn't stay home all the time.

Ruby, Yang, and Blake could at least come back once every third day despite their various missions as a huntress. However, Weiss' case was worse—she could only make time to visit home on the weekend due to the busy schedule of running the entire SDC.

Because of their busy schedule, the weekend became like a family gathering.

And It's exactly because of the busy schedule that Jaune chose to quit being a hunter and retire as a stay-at-home dad.

''All your moms would not only be back but your aunts and uncles would be visited as well.'' The statement immediately elicited a great response from the kids.

Naturally, their aunts and uncle were referring to Pyrrha, Nora and Ren.

Jaune smiles as he reminisces about his days in Beacon Academy. That place houses his most memorable and precious memories.
