Chapter IX: THE LAST BORN'S RISING (1)
PLUTO'S POV
I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Pluto Ardenyl, a member of the Last Born. For you to understand and know more about the Last Born, let me tell you how I actually came to take the knee for Feroxi and become one of his most faithful followers.
I had always heard of legends as a child, but the one that stood out the most to me was that of a legendary Grove and a magical and mysterious tree called the Cherry Tree. My name is Pluto. In my village, whispers of gods and mythical creatures were no news; most of us didn't believe in them. Not until the darkest day in all of Thytira struck. The day started like every other day with me going to the nearby forest to hunt and gather some herbs for my family to eat, when all of a sudden the sky began to turn dark with the air humming at a deafening pitch, goosebumps filled me in an instant, looking up to the sky I saw what looked like specters. I couldn't shake off the feeling that they bore an uncanny resemblance to the shadows in the myths that were being passed around in the village. I rushed home, leaving everything I had just for me to get to the village. Everything was gone; those things, those shadows had preyed on all living things as was their nature. According to the legends, they came into existence after Noctyra, the goddess of death, tampered with the cherry tree. In my shock and fear, I didn't register the fact that some people were dressed in armor and different weapons, all I was thinking of was getting home to see my family, on getting to my house I saw those fiends getting close to my little sister, the corpse of my parents lying down at the corner, I didn't think twice before rushing forward and using a nearby stick to strike the specter. The shadow's attention left my sister and came to me but I was glad because right now she was the only thing keeping me sane, as the specter was getting close to me about to devour me I had already resigned to fate when I heard the steps of someone running and grunting, with a simple slash of his sword the specter howled in pain and vanished. I looked up to the person who helped me, and I saw a man in gears I had always dreamed of, golden lining and white gears holding a neat, cool-looking, sharp sword. He extended his hand to me and led me and my sister to the camp that was set up for survivors.
He said his name was Kylebradd the High Warrior and first of the Last Born. he told me about the story of the groves and how those specters came to be. he affirmed all the stories that I thought were legends. He said they were followers and devotees, of the great Feroxi, people who had pledged their lives to fulfil the demands of the great Feroxi and in return, he granted them unimaginable powers not excluding the sought-after immortality, he said that I carried his mark because deep in my heart I wanted to fight for justice and that was what they believed in and if I take the knee for Feroxi his mark would be bestowed upon me by Feroxi himself and I would gain powers wilder than my imagination. IT WAS AT THAT MOMENT THAT I DECIDED TO PLEDGE MY LIFE TO FIGHT AGAINST THE ENEMIES OF FEROXI, THE GOD OF WAR, AND THE GROVE. IT WAS THEN I DECIDED TO "TAKE THE KNEE FOR FEROXI."
