Chapter 14 - Crimson Wildcard

The battlefield was a replica of a gothic cathedral town—massive towers, labyrinthine streets, and holy aesthetics cloaked in war.

This was the Rating Game field, designed by the Devils for their matches. But this time… there was something different in the air.

Leon stood alone at the edge of Rias's team area, the wind brushing past his coat.

He wasn't wearing the standard Gremory uniform. He wasn't wearing anything to identify him at all.

He was a ghost in the system.

"Begin the match."

Sirzechs's voice echoed like divine command.

And the game began.

Gremory Base – Planning Room

Akeno looked at Rias nervously. "Are we going to let him run loose like that?"

Rias nodded once. "Leon's not here to be controlled. He's here to win."

Kiba was silent. He'd seen what Leon did to Alden.

Everyone had.

Battlefield – Riser's Team POV

Riser's peerage had split into two teams—one for direct assault, one for defense. They had power, numbers, coordination.

But they didn't have Leon.

"Where's the enemy?" one of Riser's knights called out.

Then silence.

Followed by—

[Boost!][Time-Snare – Activated]

The knight blinked. Time froze for him. He couldn't move, couldn't breathe.

And then—

slash

Yamato moved.

And he was out.

One hit. Gone.

Riser's pawn squad scrambled—but Leon didn't fight fair.

He appeared between two walls, using shadows as steps, Boosted Gear pulsing with power.

[Boost!][Penetrate!][Dragon Claw!]

His gauntlet changed shape, forming a sharp clawed glove, tearing through their armor like paper.

Akeno watched from afar through the magic monitor.

"…That's not even a duel. That's an execution."

Riser's Throne

Riser stood in the center of his defensive team, burning wings flared out, angry but controlled.

"He's stronger than we expected," Ravel said nervously.

"He's alone," Riser snarled. "He has no strategy. He's just a rabid dog with stolen fire."

Suddenly—

[Unknown Power Signature Detected...]

A dark mist began leaking into the arena.

[System Message: ??? – Dragon-Class Presence Detected Nearby. Source: Sealed Dragon – Vritra.]

Leon's eyes narrowed.

Vritra?

The Evil Dragon sealed into Sacred Gears. One of the original antagonists to the gods. Unlike Ddraig or Albion, Vritra's powers were chaotic—domination, black flames, and curse magic.

[Optional Quest Available: Locate & Steal Vritra Fragment Before Game Ends.]➤ Location: Riser's Trap Knight – Karlamine➤ Objective: Extract and absorb "Prison Dragon Vritra – Fragment Gear"➤ Bonus: Unlock Cursed Chain Path and Shadowfire Element

Leon smiled faintly.

"Let's collect another."

The Final Clash

Leon stood face to face with Riser at the cathedral steps.

"You're strong," Riser admitted, cracking his knuckles. "But I'm immortal."

Leon raised Yamato. Crimson light flickered across his body, time magic swirling around his legs like mist.

"Then I'll just kill your will to fight."

Riser charged—flames roaring.

Leon vanished.

And reappeared mid-air, Boosted Gear glowing, Time-Snare warping space, Yamato slicing flame before it touched him.

[Forbidden Balor Sync: 19%][Boost! Boost! Boost! Penetrate!][Dragon Burst – Modified]

One blast.

Riser went flying across the cathedral wall.

When he rose, coughing blood, he knew—

He had lost.

Aftermath

Rias was declared winner.

Leon didn't celebrate.

He stood quietly as Rias approached him.

"…You didn't have to go that far," she whispered.

Leon's eyes flicked toward her, cool and distant.

"I did."

A pause.

Then he walked away.

Later That Night – System Interface

Leon sat alone atop the church rooftop, looking at the moon.

[Vritra Fragment Acquired – Sealed]➤ Awaiting Fusion Conditions➤ System Warning: Multiple Dragon-Class Gears Detected – High Risk of Gear Conflict.➤ Proceed anyway?

Leon smirked.

"Let them fight."

He tapped [Yes].

And the fusion began.
