Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: The Unexpected Terror!

Chapter 8: The Unexpected Terror!

Zaphro and Slicer ventured deeper into the eerie expanse of Happy Land, sticking to their plan of avoiding unnecessary fights with the low-level mobs. Each path they explored was lined with grotesque horrors—zombie-like creatures, bloodied children, and other abominations that looked like they had crawled straight out of a nightmare. The fog-laced atmosphere and the faint drizzle only added to the unsettling aura of the place.

Slicer shivered. He didn't want to admit it out loud, but this place was creeping him out. Some of the mobs were aggressive, chasing them through narrow paths, but their speed and agility kept them ahead. They'd combed through almost every corner—rides, booths, haunted houses—except for one place: the massive building looming at the far end of the theme park.

Without hesitation, they pushed forward.

As soon as they stepped inside, a swarm of clown mobs blocked their path. "Evil Clown – Level 60" was displayed above their heads. They each held a pair of bloodstained scissors in both hands, eyes glowing with murderous rage.

"There's no getting past them," Zaphro said grimly. The corridor was too tight to slip through. Fighting was their only option.

"Spinning Malice!" Slicer launched his attack first. The skill was already at level 3, and its increased power sliced the HP of five clowns in half instantly.

"Frost Field!" Zaphro followed up with a freezing area-of-effect spell. The clowns caught in the blast turned to ice, and some shattered instantly.

"Vanishing Strike!" Slicer shouted next. He disappeared in a flash, reappearing behind the mobs, striking them at their weak points. His movements left behind phantom images—blurs of where he once was—as he danced from enemy to enemy. The clowns fell like dominoes. With his Spot passive mastered, he saw every vulnerable spot with precision, and the Rings of Immortal he wore granted him deadly speed.

"Damn, bro. That was insane," Zaphro praised, impressed.

"Of course it was!" Slicer smirked proudly.

They moved deeper into the building, cutting through monsters with relative ease. Then, something caught their eye.

"There! In the stadium!" Slicer shouted.

In the center of the large, circular arena stood a towering clown, completely alone. It held a massive Rubik's Cube—the weapon of the Unhappy Clown.

Zaphro didn't waste a second. "Angelic Wrath!"

He dove from the air and struck the boss with his opening move. Before it could retaliate, he cast "Frost Field," freezing it in place. He was already drained of SP and MP after the combo, but he wasn't done yet.

"Vanishing Strike!" Slicer joined the assault, hitting the immobilized clown directly. Its HP dropped to 50% in a flash. Without stopping, he charged his ultimate weapon skill.

"Dark Flame Dragon!"

He leapt high, swung his sword with full force, and released a roaring black flame in the shape of a dragon that devoured the boss. Its HP continued to drop.

Zaphro had just recovered. His blade ignited with cold blue flames—two elements blending as one. He charged for a second and a half.

"Engulfing Flame!" he shouted, releasing the blazing blue energy into the raging fire.

Now engulfed in both black and blue flames, the clown's HP plummeted to zero.

[Level 100 Unhappy Clown has been slain by a party!]

Party Reward: 80,000,000 Gold

Divine Pendant (3x, Epic)

Titanium Alloy War Set (Rare Armor)

Molten Axe (Rare Weapon)

40x Ruby

40x Amethyst

40x Emerald

20x Diamond

Unique Drops:

Cape of the Divine Guardian (Back Item, Epic)

The two were exhausted, having unleashed high-class skills that consumed a significant chunk of their energy. But the rewards were well worth it—made even sweeter by Zaphro's Ring of Faith, which drastically increased the odds of rare item drops.

As always, they divided the loot fairly. Zaphro claimed the armor set and weapon for someone he planned to give it to. They split the crystals for future upgrades. Zaphro took the Blue Sky Egg, Slicer kept the Grey Terra Egg. The back item went to Slicer so he could finally gain flight ability. One pendant each, and the third they agreed to sell later.

They were just about to leave, grinning at their flawless victory—when the atmosphere shifted.

"You feel that, bro?" Zaphro asked, his voice tense.

"Yeah… this doesn't feel right," Slicer replied nervously.

Then it hit them.

Something slammed into them at an unimaginable speed. The impact flung both players across the stadium.

"ARGHHHHH!" Both of them screamed, their HP bars flashing red—reduced to just 20%. Pain and disorientation overwhelmed them.

They turned to see the source of the attack—and their hearts sank.

Two humanoid figures stood where the Unhappy Clown had fallen.

Hellbound Seraphine

No level indicators. No names. Just towering, player-sized entities clad in pitch-black armor, six black wings spread menacingly behind them. Their eyes glowed crimson.

Without moving from their spot, both figures raised their palms.

A moment later, an intense, blinding red light exploded toward the players.

"Supernova Blast!"

And then—darkness.

Their screens faded to black.
