LEXINGTON INSTITUTE
Darlina approached Triston, who was seated in the cafeteria, surrounded with a swarm of girls. She frowned as she made her towards them.
"Triston," she said softly.
The girls shot her dagger-like glares but Darlina ignored them and stepped forward.
"Can we talk... alone?"
Triston's gaze lingered on Darlina, his expression unreadable. He stood up and faced her.
"I thought you wanted me to leave you alone," Triston said, his tone kinda cold.
"You know I didn't mean that"Darlina Sighed. "I wasn't in a good mood",
Triston's eyes softened. "It was obvious,Are you okay now?"
Darlina nodded her head, her shoulders relaxing slightly.
"I am, I was really angry earlier and I'm sorry for taking it out on you."
"What were you angry about?" he asked curiously,His eyes searchng Darlina's face.
"It's just... everything," she said, sighing out heavily.
Triston's expression softened further. "How about I take you out and we get ice cream to cheer you up? Your favorite?" he asked, smiling lightly.
"We'd get caught for sneaking out"She mumbled.
"The Darlina I know isn't scared of anything,"Triston chuckled and she rolled her eyes.
"Fine let's go"
He grinned widely, wrapping his arms around her shoulder and pulling her close to him and her heart skipped a beat.
"I wasn't mad at you earlier...."He confessed, winking at her.
Darlina's eyes widened.
"What the fuck...So you made me apologise, Asshole!"
Triston's grin grew wider as they walked.
"I knew you'd come around, You can't stay away from me for so long and I know you enjoy my company"
Darlina scoffed, ignoring the flutter in her chest.
"I enjoy your company?"She repeated sarcastically. "Sometimes I feel like strangling you cuz you're so annoying"
"No, You're annoying!"Triston shot back, sticking out his tongue.
"You're such a monkey!"Darlina scowled.
Triston chuckled. "At least I'm not a snake like you!"
Darlina's gasped.
"I'm not a snake! You're a pig!"
Triston grinned.
"Better a pig than a cat like you, always hissing and spitting!"
Why does he always have a comeback for everything!
Darlina's face reddened. "I do not hiss and spit! You're just a big galoot, a gorilla!"
Triston laughed out loud loudly.
"A gorilla? That's the best you've got?"
"You're a rhino, a big, annoying one!"
Triston chuckled. "And you're a kangaroo, always hopping mad!"
Darlina giggled. "That's not even a good one!"
Triston smile faltered.
"You're a... a... platypus!"
Darlina burst out laughing her eyes shining with amusement.
Triston's heart jumped at the sound of her laughter, and he felt happy knowing he'd made her laugh.
He smiled, feeling warmth spread in his chest. He loved seeing Darlina happy and not moody.
< THE NEXT DAY >
• DAWSON'S APARTMENT •
Hazel wore a simple white dress. Her dark hair was falling freely over her shoulders, and a soft pink lipstick added a touch of color to her face.
She hadn't dressed up in a long time, always covering up and when she goes to the office, she wore her normal weird outfits.
Her hair was always in a bun as Dawson always wanted but today she decided to let it down and she couldn't deny the fact that she looked better.
Hazel's heart pounded as she approached the living room, nervous about asking Dawson's permission to attend the wedding. Her palms felt sweaty, and she took a deep breath to calm herself.
As she entered the room, she gasped in horror. Dawson lay motionless on the couch, his eyes wide open. Darlina stood over him, her eyes burning with hatred.
"Oh my god, Lina! What did you do?!" Hazel shouted, her voice trembling.
Darlina's expression was cold. "He's not dead. I just spiked his drink."
Hazel's eyes widened in shock. "You did what?!"
"He won't remember anything when he wakes up."
Hazel's fear turned to shock as Darlina punched Dawson's face, making him grunt in pain. His eyes closed, and Hazel gasped again.
"Oh my god... is he dead?" she whispered, stepping forward to check his pulse.
Darlina scoffed, glancing at him.
"I wish he was but He'll be out for six hours. You can go to the wedding without asking for his permission."
"Are you crazy? What if he wakes up and... oh my god, I'm dead!"
"He won't remember anything."Darlina repeated, standing straight.
"What did you give him, Lina?"She asked, still staring at Dawson's lifeless body and her heart pounded hard against her chest.
Darlina shrugged, her expression very cold. "Just a little something to keep him quiet. Don't worry, Hazel, he'll be fine."
Hazel's eyes widened again. "Fine? Are you insane? We can't just leave him like this!"
"We can, and we will. You're going to that wedding, Hazel, with or without his permission."She said icily.
Hazel's face paled as she stared at Dawson's face again.
Suddenly, Darlina grabbed Hazel's arm and pulled her towards the door. "Come on, we need to get going. My best friend is getting married and I can't be late"
Hazel hesitated, her eyes fixed on Dawson's body. "But what about him?"
"He'll be fine. Let's go."
Hazel felt relieved as she followed Darlina out of the room. She quickly picked up her phone and typed out a text to Liam with a big smile spreading across her face.
"I'm on my way" she texted smiling widely. She couldn't wait to be there already.
She pressed send and slipped her phone back into her pocket, feelling excited and free even if it's only temporary.
