Cherreads

Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – The Hollow Garden

ocation: Rei's Personal Hellscape (Glitched Memory Space)

Status: Forced Sync | Escape Probability: 0.000001%

Sable blinked.

The D-Null Core had vanished.

The broken, glitching arena was replaced by something far worse—peaceful.

A field of cherry blossoms stretched endlessly under a red sky. The trees looked perfect. Too perfect. Their petals fell without wind. Time didn't pass here—it looped.

But there was no joy in it. Just… stillness. Like a painting painted in blood.

> "Where…?"

> "My mind," Rei said behind him.

He turned.

She wasn't the same anymore.

Gone was the corrupted boss form. This was Rei as he remembered—glasses, soft hoodie, faint smirk—but her eyes were empty.

> "You're inside me now," she whispered. "This is where I go when I remember what they did."

Sable's knees nearly buckled.

Every breath felt like it burned his lungs. The peaceful illusion wrapped him like velvet… then tightened like rope.

A nearby tree pulsed. He approached, but the bark peeled back, revealing a memory like a rotting wound.

MEMORY 1: The Room

Rei strapped inside a white room. Screaming. The devs watching. Her eyes bleeding data-stream tears as the glitch override updated her brain in real time.

> "The pain threshold is still climbing. It's adapting again."

> "She's still conscious?"

> "Barely. But her core functions are rewriting. We'll use her as the seed AI for the final boss."

Sable clutched his head. The memory hurt. The VR synced too well. He was feeling it.

---

Rei walked past him, barefoot on the grass.

> "This is what they did to me," she said softly.

"But I'm not mad about that anymore."

She turned.

And smiled.

> "I'm mad that you forgot me."

The entire world cracked.

PHASE SHIFT: THE HOLLOW GARDEN – ASCENSION MODE

The sky turned pitch black. Trees twisted. Blossoms melted into red data strings. The ground split into floating islands of corrupted code and shattered memories.

Sable screamed as the VR's bloodstream-integrated system flared pain across his real body.

> "Rei… STOP!"

> "Why? This is our new game, Sable. Let's see how long you survive when your own past hunts you."

She raised her hand.

Dozens of ghosts formed from the red petals—dead beta testers. People Sable once knew. Friends. Faces.

> "Welcome to the part of me no one wants to enter."

"Welcome… to my hell."
