Chapter Six: Between the Worlds
The next dream wasn't a dream.
I know it wasn't.
I woke up standing in the middle of the street—but not my street. It looked the same, but everything was faded, like the color had been drained. The people walked slowly, their faces blurred. They didn't speak.
And then I saw Parker—across the road.
Alive. Real.
"Parker!"
He looked at me.
But this time, he looked scared.
"You shouldn't be here yet," he said.
I tried to cross the road—but something held me back. The air thickened. My chest tightened.
"You can't fix me," he said softly. "But maybe you can fix them."
"Fix who?"
But he was already gone.
