🥀 ABELIA'S POV 🥀
It's been six months of being confined to a wheelchair, six months of hoping for a miracle, six months since I discovered who Nemo truly was, six months since I gave him myself and the position of being the next don just for revenge, and finally, six months of one-sided love.
For me, six months was enough to fall totally in love with a stranger, for him it's simply business.
I wheeled myself out of my room, and into the dining room, it was as quiet as ever, Nemo just coldly focused on his meal and ate it like I didn't exist. The old Nemo has been thrown out the window.
And I just shamelessly gawked at him even though my presence wasn't noticed.
"When are we starting?" I blurted out, breaking the silence. "It's been six months of waiting for something to happen, but still nothing."
"Nobody said you can question me," he snapped. "I'm quite sure I told you to listen to me and follow my lead."
"Drop the attitude, Nemo, it's not attractive," I snapped back. "You asked me to follow your lead, but you aren't leading anything… Cain is out there enjoying the position he attempted to kill me for. Doesn't that seat belong to me? For how long do I have to wait?"
"We made a deal, Nemo…" I added, "You can have me and the position as the Don. Don't you think I deserve a report for every step you take?"
Nemo dropped his cutlery and gawked at me expressionlessly. "Has anyone told you that I have a lot of enemies? More complicated than the one enemy you have. As we speak, you are an easy target to kill, don't you think you should get the necessary treatment and stand on your feet first? When revenge starts, there won't be a break until it's over. I'm telling you we'll fight until we get killed or the other way around. Your first revenge is getting back your legs."
"I can't wait," I declared, "I won't keep hoping. It's your revenge and not mine, I already paid you in a way that I can, so just act."
"I know you are not dumb, so I'll give you a sample," he muttered, wiping the stain off his lips with a tissue. "If the enemies break into the house right now and I begin to fight them, what would you be doing? Rolling yourself around until you get killed? You can't even run and hide. There's absolutely nothing you can do in your condition than to be a burden to me."
My face turned pale and red. "Nemo…"
He got up to leave. "The next time you argue with me, I'll tie you to that wheelchair."
I dropped my cutlery and wheeled after him, "Nemo!"
In the blink of an eye, Nemo was behind me. I went ice cold. "I just wanted to talk," I whispered.
Before I knew it, he went 360 degrees around me at full speed, and before I could analyze my situation, I had been tied to the wheelchair.
He bent towards me with a smirk on his face, "I warned you not to argue with me."
I melted because that side of him that got lost surfaced for a few seconds.
***🥀***
Day after days went by, after a lot of exercises, training, and treatments, I began to walk little by little.
I walked towards Nemo's room and knocked on the door, but got no response, so I stormed in.
"I'm fine now, let's start revenge," I declared.
Silence descended, and Nemo didn't move an inch from the bed. "Is he asleep?" I thought, tiptoeing closer to him.
It always takes me by surprise, his unexpected fast move. I was pinned to the wall seconds after tiptoeing closer to him.
He looked down at me, and I paused my lips, breathing heavily and staring back at him. I couldn't move my arm because he was firmly pinning it down, and deep down, I wasn't interested in moving it.
"You are not fine yet. when someone tries to attack you, you should run." His hoarse voice rang out.
I yanked my hand off angrily, "As if I can run from you."
I stormed out of the room, and what I met waiting for me outside the room made my knees weak. I froze, trembling.
A few guys stood in front of me with masks on, no features of their faces were exposed, they pointed a gun at me and muttered, "Where's he?"Â
My breath came in a short rugged gasp, "Wh – wh -who?" I stammered.
All of a sudden, a bullet rang out. I was alive but dead; the sound was heard, but the one with the gun was not visible.
The front man snatched me and used me as a shield, from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet was anxious about whatever was going to happen next.
"Don't move or you'll die," the man growled, making sure every part of my body covered his.
I swallowed hard, deep down, I was already dead.
"Come out or she's dead." The man screamed.
"Nemo don't," I cried out.
The man held onto my neck tightly, "Shut the fuck up bitch!"
Nemo slowly walked out, dropped his weapon, and kicked it towards them.
I jingled my head, "No, No… don't come out… they could…"Â
In five seconds, Nemo was in five different places, and a few more seconds, he took the men down with a knife.
Blood spilt everywhere, including his face; he was covered in blood.Â
"I told you when someone tries to attack you, run." He growled.
"– I-I did want to run, but I had no idea where to run to," I defended.
"Run to me…" he blurted out and walked away. "Get ready, we are leaving this place in two minutes, more of those things will be back, they are after me."
I initially thought he was saving my life, but he was putting me in more trouble.
