You could imagine my surprise when she started to chat with me like nothing happened. It even felt genuine. She made sure not to bring up our past in any way and started asking things about my training and my plans. When I told her about that I was planning to become an adventurer here in the capitol so that I can get some real combat experience before I enroll in academy, she was shocked.
The conversation flew effortlessly for hours, Elizabeth even made sure to include Rina and Yuki in the conversation as much as possible. The only thing that was a little awkward was the fact that both Yuki and Rina were hanging on my arms and pressing them against their chests. Not that I was complaining it felt good, but I needed to suppress the urge to chuckle seeing them 'defend their territory'.
After several hours of us just talking on the spot, our fathers joined the conversation. Both marquess Duchell and my father Manfred Balzac, came in with huge smiles. They even wanted to be introduced to Rina, what was extremely unusual. Nobles normally ignored the companions without surnames so them directly asking me to introduce Rina to them was almost as shocking as us bowing down to Elizabeth not so long ago. Seeing the surprise on my face my father chuckled and spoke.
"Vic, I am receiving news from Sebastian every week. I know how talented she is! I am not that conceited to ignore somebody with that kind of talent! And there is no reason not to brag about you to my old friend. For a long time, there wasn't much to brag about, my apologies son, I love you but you know the best that it is truth. And now that you are back on track and even found such a marvelous talent, I had to brag."
I just shook my head and chuckled. "It's fine father, I was just surprised. Now that I have you here may I ask you something?"
My father just smiled and nodded as he spoke. "Ask away!"
"Would it be possible for me, Rina and Yuki to move here to the capitol. We would like to enroll in as adventurers here and get some combat experience before the academy."
My father got serious and glanced towards Yuki. She nodded gently with her head, signaling to him that I am indeed ready. Following this my father smiled from ear to ear and nodded.
"As you wish son! I will have your stuff moved tomorrow; you can stay right away."
"Thank you, father!" I spoke and gently bowed to my father.
Hearing our conversation Elizabeth spoke quickly.
"Can I join your party? I also wanted to get some combat experience before the academy!"
Her father's face went from being filled with shock and surprise to a mischievous smile for some reason as he spoke.
"That would be awesome, I would be willing to let her do that since I am sure that she is going to be safe with miss Sazanukachi."
My confusion grew when both Yuki and Rina squeezed my arms from nowhere. Then I realized what was going on, they felt threatened by Elizabeth trying to join our party. I made a mental note to explain to them that there is no way that Elizabeth is interested in me. She already refused me when I confessed to her years back and that was even before I tried to rape her. There is no way she would be interested in me. After that I nodded and spoke.
"Sure! Join us, it's going to be fun! We will be enrolling tomorrow around eight in the morning in the local adventurer's guild!"
Elizabeth nodded smiling. "I will be there!"
The rest of the party was uneventful but right after we returned to my chambers my father had called me into his office. I went right away and knocked on the massive wooden door.
"Come in, son!" Spoke the duke and I entered the room fearing the worst.
"You called me father?" I spoke, doing my best to hide my fear.
"Yes, son! You did good to apologize to Elizabeth. My relationship with marquess Duchell became strained after you did" Father was silent for few seconds, after that he shook his head and continued. "THAT few years back! But after you apologized, he came to me and we had a very nice chat. I missed our chats. He even invited me for a tea tomorrow, so that we can catch up properly."
I bowed deeply as I spoke. "I am very happy for you Father and also please accept my apology for all the mess I got you into before!"
My father quickly walked up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Raise your head son. I am happy that you became such a good man. I was worried about you these last few years, but seeing you now, I know that you are a good man and there is nothing for me to worry about any more."
He returned to his chair behind a huge table filled with stacks of scrolls, papers and books.
"I wanted to ask one more thing. Should I start handling the engagement between you and Elizabeth?" He asked.
The question shocked me but I quickly shook my head and spoke. "Please no, father! I don't want to cause her any more pain or discomfort. She already refused my confession once and I even tried to rape her after that. There is no way she would be happy to be engaged to a person like that. Please, don't do that to her. It would be hard for her father to refuse, him being just a marquess and you being a duke."
Father nodded with serious face and spoke. "As you wish my son!"
After that we had a chat about progress of my training and my future plans. To my surprise he didn't notice anything and was happy to chat with me. Several hours later I returned to my chambers and explained the situation around Elizabeth in detail to Rina and Yuki. I even told them that I would understand if they were angry with me or wanted to leave after learning what I tried to do to Elizabeth. But both of them just told me that they knew already about my past but they also knew that I am different person now.
To say that I was shocked how good people took things like this in this world would be an understatement. In my eyes what Victor tried to do was disgusting and people here just waved their hand at it like it was nothing. Then it hit me, this was not earth, this was nothing like earth this world was much uglier and much more disgusting then the earth. The game did it's best to hide it but now I think about it, this world is really awful. People with status prayed on people bellow them daily, in this world it was not weird for girls just wave their hand at what I once did, it was honestly weird that I cared. I barely even slept that night facing all the disgust to this world I felt. I ended promising to myself that once I will be strong enough I will do everything in my power to make this world at least a little better. A little more humane, a little less disgusting.
When I woke up in the morning I hoped that thing between Rina, Yuki and Elizabeth would calm down hearing everything but next morning when we met in front of the adventurer's guild they seemed to be as on guard as they were before. I found it weird but decided not to comment on that. I was sure that they would calm down after seeing that Elizabeth is not going to be a threat to them.
We went inside as a group and headed straight to party registration section. We had to wait about twenty minutes and then we were able to enter a room. It was very simplistic room about 3x3 meters, the floor was wooden and walls white. There was a desk in the middle of the room with one woman sitting on the further side and four simple wooden chairs on the side closer to us. The woman behind the table pointed towards the chairs and spoke.
"Please have a seat!"
We quickly sat down and the lady behind the table started to speak.
"You are registering a new party. Is any of you already registered as an adventurer."
Yuki raised her hand and spoke. "I am an S rank adventurer. But I will be not participating, I am here as an instructor."
Lady behind the table nodded. "That makes things easier. Please give me your adventurer's ID."
Yuki handed a shiny metallic card to her and several moments later she spoke, shock visible on her face.
"You are Yuki Sazanukachi?"
Yuki nodded. "Yes!"
"It is a great honor to meet you in person lady Sazanukachi! I am a big fun of yours…"
The lady behind the table was about to start rumbling by the looks of it but Yuki just raised her hand and waved it in front of the lady as she spoke.
"Could we please do the registration first? I am sorry but we are rather busy!"
Woman froze and then nodded few seconds later. "I apologize! Sure, I will register you right away!"
After that she proceeded to take our names and check our statuses. Elizabeth was shocked seeing that we both had our classes already. She never asked about our level when we were talking during the party so she didn't knew until now. She was much less confident in herself after she saw our statuses when her was about to be revealed. She ended up being level 7 classless, next surprise came when I had a look into her skills. She had the two infusion skills and despite being classless she had already two offensive skills. One was mana spear and second being mana ball. I remembered her having the two skills in the game just named lightning spear and lightning ball, but that could be explained by the fact that she didn't had her affinity yet.
Seeing this I realized how effective Yuki's training really was. Several months of her intense training ended up doing more than years of normal training.
