Chapter 2 - Axel Nomrad

Pain, insane amounts of pain swept through the entire of Tyler. The lingering sensation of iron spikes being pierced through every part of him almost made him go mad. There was darkness, endless darkness, unending darkness everywhere.

He could not feel his body anymore, he realized he must have died. But strangely, he was calm as if he did not have anything to lose. He lived in his uncle's house; his parents died in a plane crash, unfortunately. Though his uncle and aunt never treated him badly, they did as much as he needed and gave him whatever he wanted since they were moderately rich. He wasn't too close with his cousins, but his relationship with them wasn't bad, either.

The only one he was truly close with was her, his only friend, Sophia. He felt a bit sad for her but there was another small regret in his mind, he wanted to beat up those damn bullies even if it was for one last time. But all in all, his feelings for his life did not change even at this moment. It was simply mundane, nothing more and nothing less. A guy who was simply unable to fit into society properly, that's all.

He broke out of his melancholy and focused on himself. He felt conscious, but he couldn't feel his body and what's with this intense darkness? He thought. Tyler suddenly felt an attraction force dragging him somewhere. His mind blacked out.

After an unknown amount of time, he found himself opening his eyes, and he unconsciously gasped for breath. A wave of weakness washed over him, he could barely move his limbs.

But with a lot of effort, he managed to get up. He surveyed his surroundings. He was in a large, decorated, medieval-looking room.

There was a sense of luxury in the room but it wasn't too extravagant. He continued to look around as he gasped for breath. Apart from those tiny details he couldn't make out anything more. He then inspected his own body, which seemed quite frail, as if it was sick and malnourished for a long time.

There was a strange looking bracelet attached to his wrist which seemed to be beeping green from time to time. A wave of loud sounds reverberated from outside of the door and he could hear hurried footsteps coming from beneath as they were walking up the stairs.

The first to open the door was a beautiful mature women in a maid outfit, her expression that of a eagerness and panic. More maids came in followed by a regal looking butler.

When they all saw Tyler looking at them all with a confused expression, they all halted in their tracks and an expression of ecstasy broke onto their faces.

The maid who came in first closed in on him and started crying, "Young Master, after so so long, you have waken!!! You have finally woken up from the coma!"

She hugged him very gently as if she was afraid his body would not be able to handle it. She let go of him in a few moments, and the butler came forward and bowed to him with a smile and stated with genuine happiness, "Welcome back, Young Master. We have sent news to the patriarch, and he is on his way. Though it will take him a day or two to get back since he went to an important meeting."

Tyler's eyebrows were arched, he was extremely confused by the total situation. For a moment he thought about faking everything but he did not remember anything of the body he was inhabiting at the moment. For a guy who always loved to read stories, it wasn't hard for him to come to terms with what happened. He had been apparently been reincarnated into some noble family as their young master.

He eventually said what was on his mind, "Who are you all?"

Everyone's happy expression instantly vanished as they heard that, the butler only now noticed his confused expression, all the maids and the butler stared at him for a few moments to see if he was joking or not, the maid asked him a trembling voice,

"y-Young master, you don't recognize us?"

Tyler replied immediately, "No."

A deafening silence permeated the entire room for the second time. The butler put his hat down as he sighed and said,

"Young master, you have been in a coma for more than 2 years now. You recently turned 17. You were ambushed by an unknown group on the road at that time. By the time our knights reached your wagon. You were found unconscious with some minor injuries."

He took a pause to let the information sink into his young masters mind, but he continued in the next moments, "While the patriarch did manage to heal you using his connections and resources, you did not wake up from the coma. I suppose it is already a miracle that you have awaken but there's bound to be repercussions as well."

"But fret not, young master, what matters most that you have woken up, everything else can be fixed slowly. I can't imagine how happy the patriarch must be to hear of your recovery after trying so many things," said the Butler with a slight smile.

Tyler simply nodded, he was still extremely confused by the whole situation, but had to accept it. He still had a few crucial questions, "Who am I?"

The maid held his hand while kneeling close to the bed. She opened her mouth but was unable to say the words. It was the old butler who answered the questions with a sad sigh,

"You are the rightful heir of The Obsidian Trade, a low-grade merchant family. You are Axel Nomrad, the son of Daniel Nomrad."

Tyler thought to himself, 'So, my name is Axel, Axel Nomrad. It's a weird last name, but ok, I guess. But why does that Obsidian Trade name sound familiar? '

He thought long and hard but couldn't figure it out and eventually asked everyone to leave and get him some food. He felt quite hungry, and he needed to be alone for a while. He had to get used to all the changes. All in all, he needed some time to accept his new identity.

Soon, his personal maid came, the one who came into the room first after him waking up. She brought a lot of food with her while Axel went to go and have a shower. But he found it quite hard to walk with that body. But his maid helped him with a smile. He eventually took some time to clean himself properly and got used to his new and frail body.

He came to the room and dried himself, the maid helped him. Her name was Clara. He was slightly shy since she was extremely beautiful and had a curvaceous body; her breasts were quite large. So, his mind unknowingly wandered to forbidden territories, seeing the breathtaking woman helping him dry his almost naked body, only covering his private parts with a towel. But he shook off those thoughts and began eating the meal.

He seemed to have a good appetite, and it was his first time tasting the dishes of a different world, which all had a unique but very flavorful taste. He started speaking with his maid,

"Tell me more about our family."

Clara hesitated for a moment, but she eventually started speaking,

"The Obsidian Trade used to be one of the top Merchant groups in the Great Kingdom. But the previous patriarch, you're grandfather, died six years ago from an accident. Well, that is what is publicly known, but we all know that for a mighty 4th phase seeker to have died just like that was the scheme of the other merchant groups and then in the ambush that the young master was in,,,,,,, and,,,,"

She seemed to want to say something more, but she decided not to. But Axel was not listening to her after a certain point, his mind went blank when he heard the word "Seeker" and "4th phase".

"What kingdom are we in?" He asked Clara with an apparent urgency.

"It is the Great Kingdom of Suncrest, of course. The strongest country of the 3 great human kingdoms," stated Clara with a slightly proud tone.

Axel's mind went blank as if he had been hit by a 1000-ton hammer, and his eyes widened in disbelief. He asked her again just to be sure,

"What are the other 2 great kingdoms? And the continent? What's the name of the continent?"

Clara sensed his urgency and replied without understanding the reason for it,

"The other two great kingdoms are The Great Kingdom of Samartan and Blackvale."

"And the continent is, the vast continent of Eldarion."

After one more minute Clara had left Axel's room as he kicked her out saying he needed to be completely alone. She was worried for him but had no choice but to obey his orders.

Axel's mind, on the other hand, was raging like a tornado. He did not care about what the maid thought about him, rather, it was the implications of the information she revealed and the place he reincarnated in which finally clicked in his mind.

By now he was almost 80% sure that he had been reincarnated into one of the stories he partially read, A story called "The World of Eldarion."
