Labyrinth City Orario.

Outside the Loki Familia base, a slender, thin man leaned against the corner wall of an alley, having appeared there at some unknown time.

The man's hair was a rare pure black, and his clothes differed from the popular styles in Orario.

Inelastic black fabric hugged his torso tightly, looking quite inconvenient for movement.

Yet, despite this man seeming entirely out of place in the Labyrinth City, none of the passing pedestrians were willing to stop and check on his condition.

At most, out of curiosity, they might cast a distant glance.

After all, this was Loki Familia's territory; they didn't want to invite trouble for themselves.

Moreover, living in this Labyrinth City, over ninety percent of the adventurers spent their days fighting various monsters in the Dungeon.

They were already exerting all their effort just to survive; how could they have spare energy to meddle in others' affairs?

If they truly had free time, these adventurers who lived on the edge preferred visiting the Entertainment District, finding a few decent prostitutes to spend the night with, or feasting at a tavern that suited their taste...

In short, they had plenty of ways to relax their tense nerves.

Compared to indulging in pleasure, no one would waste time on an insignificant stranger.

Daylight quickly passed, and the pedestrians on the street gradually disappeared, yet the man remained motionless in the alley corner, lying in that damp, dark spot.

Apart from the slight rise and fall of his chest, he was practically indistinguishable from a corpse.

"Cough..."

As night deepened, the rise and fall of the man's chest increased slightly.

Then, a cough suddenly escaped his lips, startling away several rats foraging in the nearby garbage heap next to the "corpse."

The next moment, the man opened his eyes.

A pair of eyes as dark as ink, the same color as his hair.

"Here... is this hell?"

After opening his eyes, Luke quietly gazed up at the starry sky shimmering with silver light above, feeling the hard and cold sensation beneath him, his expression somewhat frozen.

"So hell really exists in the world..."

He wasn't surprised or confused by his situation, nor did he rush to get up and check his surroundings, because he remembered everything that had happened before.

Luke Starr, 23 years old, had graduated from university a year ago.

A few days prior, under his family's arrangement, he had attended a blind date, which had unexpectedly failed.

The blind date partner was a beautiful-looking girl, also a year out of university, with a job that paid neither too high nor too low.

She was also being pressured by her family to quickly find someone to marry and have children to carry on the family line.

Logically, Luke's chances of success on this blind date were quite high.

After all, although he wasn't handsome, he wasn't exactly ugly either—the type that looks average at first glance, and upon closer inspection... still average.

A perfectly ordinary face, which happened to be a good "match" for the girl.

Plus, his family was well-off, and he himself had a job earning over ten thousand a month.

So, barring any accidents, within half a year after this blind date, he should have been able to take the girl to the government office to get married.

But unfortunately, an accident did happen.

Luke, five years after graduating high school, still retained his high school hobby: watching anime.

Moreover, he was a seasoned otaku, the hardcore kind.

At the time, the girl was casually swirling her coffee cup while subtly probing Luke about his relationship history.

Suddenly, a motorcycle drove past outside the café, playing a familiar anime song.

Upon hearing it, Luke subconsciously started humming along.

Hearing Luke hum, the girl got curious and casually asked what song it was.

And then... for the remaining hour-plus of the blind date, Luke excitedly evangelized about the world of 2D culture to the girl across the coffee table, who might very well have become his life partner.

By the time the blind date ended and they walked out of the café...

Luke's face was radiant, his steps light, his whole being seemingly sparkling.

But the girl walking beside him had a dazed look in her eyes, her smile barely holding together.

Naturally, the blind date, which had seemed like a sure thing, fell through just like that.

Luke himself was indifferent to it.

He wasn't in a hurry to get married anyway, and he didn't feel much for the girl as a blind date partner.

Not to mention she wasn't part of the anime community; they didn't even share common hobbies.

So what was the point of dating or marrying?

But this was just Luke's wishful thinking; his parents thought differently.

In Mr. and Mrs. Starr's view, their son's blind date failure was entirely due to those damn cartoons, games, and novels.

If they had known earlier, they would never have allowed Luke to come into contact with otaku culture.

However, regret was useless now; Luke was already an adult.

So, Mr. and Mrs. Starr could only constantly complain in front of him, hoping he would "see the light" and "turn over a new leaf."

But this earnest advice from his parents sounded like maddening torture to Luke.

So, he simply rented a private room at an internet café near his company.

He went to work during the day and didn't go home at night, living in the internet café, hoping to wait out these few days until his parents' resentment subsided before returning home.

But what he never expected was that this seemingly simple decision would cost him his life.

Due to the internet café owner's negligence in maintenance, aging circuits caused a fire.

All the young people playing games overnight in the café were successfully evacuated under the shouts of the owner and staff.

Only Luke, dressed in a suit and sound asleep in his private room, remained oblivious.

By the time he woke up startled, the fire was already out of control.

Trapped in the private room, Luke ended up being suffocated to death by the toxic smoke.

"Baldy, you owe me a life... If we meet in the afterlife, I'll definitely demand it back..."

Recalling the suffering before his death, Luke narrowed his eyes, inevitably thinking of Baldy Lee who ran the internet café, and simultaneously started pondering how to claim restitution from him later.

However, just then, a cold, mechanical female voice suddenly exploded in his mind.

"Ding! Host's mental fluctuation detected as recovered. Commencing information transmission!"

"Who?! Who's..."

Startled by the sudden voice, Luke pushed himself up with both hands, about to climb off the ground.

However, a massive influx of information flooded his mind immediately after, instantly causing him to lie back down.

"Death... Inheritance... Transmigration... Profession/Job... System... Orario... Dungeon..."

After quite some time, Luke finally recovered from the massive amount of information stuffed into his mind.

Then, rubbing his forehead, he stood up and walked out of the alley, leaning against the wall.

Outside the alley, he saw a large cluster of medieval fantasy-style buildings.

Closest to him was a brightly lit mansion, with several lines of unreadable text written on the plaque above the door.

Staring blankly at everything before him, Luke felt as if he were dreaming.

Even when he first woke up in the alley and accepted his own death, he was far less surprised than he was now.

"...So, I'm still alive?"

"Host's vital signs detected as good. Health status is sub-optimal. Please ingest food as soon as possible to maintain normal life activities."

The mechanical female voice, still coming from his mind, meticulously answered Luke's question.

However, hearing this voice, Luke didn't panic like before, simply asking softly, "System?"

"—Ding!"

As soon as Luke spoke, a pale blue light screen materialized before his eyes.

On it was a black humanoid silhouette, with a string of text floating beside it.

[Name: Luke Starr]

[Race: Human]

[Age: 23]

[Height: 176cm]

[Weight: 64kg]

[Spirit: 8 (10)]

[Strength: 6 (10)]

[Agility: 7 (10)]

[Endurance: 8 (10)]

[Constitution: 10 (10)]

[Job Legacy/Profession Inheritance: None]

[Energy: 215.02/1000000]

Staring intently at the contents of the light screen, Luke's body trembled slightly.

"I really... transmigrated..."

And with a system, no less!

No, that wasn't quite right.

According to the information the system transmitted to him, it was the system that brought him to this world.

Even his current body was reconstructed for him by the system.

And Luke indeed remembered clearly that he had been roasted alive in the fire scene before.

The system's full name was the "Job Legacy System."

Its origin was untraceable; even the system itself had no records of it.

The purpose of this system's existence was to cultivate a successor capable of inheriting valuable and powerful Job Legacies/Profession Inheritances from all across the myriad heavens and myriad worlds, across various planes, to prevent future severance/loss of these legacies.

As the system's host, he needed to constantly hone those legacies, then complete the trial missions issued by the system to unlock new job legacies!

Simultaneously, to enhance the host's adaptability and combat capability, a sub-module of the Job Legacy System possessed the function of plane transition.

To put it bluntly, it was transmigration, and specified transmigration at that!

As long as enough energy was provided, specified plane transitions could be made.

Yosuga no Sora, Oni Chichi, Dark Bible, Kuroinu...

Just thinking about these series made him incredibly excited!

As a hardcore otaku, could there be anything more exciting than being able to transmigrate into anime worlds?

The answer was, naturally—Yes!

That would be transmigrating into *another* anime world!

Transmigrating into one anime world and then transmigrating into another anime world again, it was simply too awesome!

And the place Luke was currently in was an anime series he had once followed.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

While carefully recalling the details of this anime, Luke once again summoned the system.

With a thought, he entered the inventory interface.

According to the information the system had just transmitted, he should have a Newbie Gift Pack.

Newbie Gift Pack... What kind of cliché setting from an online game is this?

Although he felt a bit dissonant about the system's term "Newbie Gift Pack," his actions weren't slow at all.

Seeing the purple box occupying one slot in the inventory interface, the thought of using it flashed through his mind, and several system notification sounds rang in his ears.

"Ding! Newbie Gift Pack successfully used!"

"Congratulations Host, obtained passive skill [Language Proficiency] Lv3 (5)"

"Congratulations Host, obtained full attribute compensation: Spirit +2, Strength +4, Agility +3, Endurance +2, Constitution +0"

"Congratulations Host, obtained one Job Legacy chance. Commence random draw?"

Following the system prompts, a warm current rose from his limbs and then slowly flowed throughout his entire body, bringing a strange sensation of slight numbness and soreness.

After circulating twice within his body, the warm current dissipated.

In contrast, there was a feeling of transparency and ease in every movement.

"Incredible..."

Luke marveled at the miraculousness of the system's enhancement while looking down at his hands.

His fair fingers slowly closed into a fist; the explosive feeling of strength was almost three times what it was before!

And on the system interface, Luke's personal five-dimensional attributes had now all reached 10 points.

10 points was the limit achievable by a pure human body.

Anything higher belonged to a different level of life.

He walked a few steps in place, then threw a few random punches into the air.

Only then did Luke suppress the surging excitement in his heart and look up at the mansion's door plaque in front of him.

The text that previously looked like incomprehensible scribbles now seemed incredibly familiar, like his native language learned since childhood.

[Language Proficiency] Lv.3: Possesses innate understanding and affinity for languages. Can fluently read, write, and utilize any existing written language type. Resistance to word spirit type attacks increased. Damage increased when using word spirit type attacks.

Such a skill was undoubtedly powerful for Luke, who until now only knew English and Mandarin.

But when he excitedly recognized the characters on the door plaque, the smile on his face instantly froze.

Loki Familia!

One of the major Familias that reigned over the Labyrinth City in the original work, possessing the adventurer hailed as the strongest female swordsman, Ais Wallenstein.

At the same time, the average level of Loki Familia's main members was between Lv.5-6.

Loki Familia members were more monstrous than monsters, capable of hunting any monster on the lower floors of the Dungeon head-on!

And Luke worried about more than just that.

The god in charge of Loki Familia, Loki, was a true god who had existed for hundreds of millions of years.

Although she had currently self-sealed most of her divine powers, who could guarantee that an outsider "illegal immigrant" like himself wouldn't be seen through by a god?

And if he were seen through by Loki... she was not actually known for being a merciful goddess.

The smile quickly vanished from his face.

The inflated ego he felt after gaining power was doused as if by a bucket of cold water, calming him down.

Luke turned without hesitation and walked towards the dimly lit end of the street.

Dimly lit places were generally uninhabited, or housed poor people reluctant to waste lamp oil.

They hadn't joined a Familia and thus couldn't adventure in the Dungeon, so they could only engage in low-income service jobs.

Naturally, no Familia would look favorably upon a place inhabited by the poor.

And, no Familia meant no risk of encountering a god.

With his body at the peak of human potential, Luke walked quickly, soon leaving the brightly lit Loki Familia far behind as darkness gradually enveloped the surroundings.

Slowing his pace, Luke observed the dilapidated and simple dwellings around him while pondering.

Although his system wasn't currently forcing him to complete any tasks, he was destined to eventually undertake the so-called trial missions issued by the system.

Since the trial missions contained the word "trial," they certainly wouldn't be easy to complete.

Thinking negatively, he might even lose his life because of them.

So, the current priority was to seize the time to improve his strength, become as powerful as possible, to ensure survival in future trial missions.

And to become stronger, besides relying on the system's legacies, being in this Labyrinth City Orario, Luke naturally had another path.

That was to join a Familia, receive a god's [Falna], then enter the Dungeon to hunt monsters, gain [Excellia], and grow rapidly!

But whether wanting to join a Familia or receive [Falna], the prerequisite was contact with a god.

This made Luke hesitate.

Although the gods in the anime appeared peaceful, even somewhat comical, seemingly not very intelligent and easy to fool, they were, after all, true gods who had lived for hundreds of millions of years.

They certainly weren't as simple as portrayed in the anime.

The only reason Luke hesitated about whether to contact a god was one particular anomaly among the gods of Heaven: the virgin goddess Hestia.

His desire to use Hestia as an entry point wasn't because Luke had any unrealistic ideas about her, but because he knew Hestia's fatal weakness—the sole member of Hestia Familia, the white-haired boy Bell Cranel.

Perhaps due to an overpowered protagonist halo, Hestia, this virgin loli goddess who had been single in Heaven for hundreds of millions of years, became utterly infatuated with Bell upon descending to the lower world.

And Bell happened to be a naive, tender youth, making one incredibly envious...

But this also gave Luke an opportunity.

Unlike those ancient, seen-it-all true gods, humans tend to be soft-hearted, especially "protagonists" like Bell, who are easily swayed by talk-no-jutsu.

If Hestia couldn't see through his secret, that would be best.

But if she did recognize his abnormality, Luke could find ways to use Bell to restrain Hestia's actions, preventing himself from becoming too passive.

So, the next step was to find this big-breasted loli virgin goddess with a child's face...

In the darkness, Luke's eyes flickered as he formulated a rough plan of action.

Then, he silently called out the system.

From the earlier Newbie Gift Pack, he had obtained a random Job Legacy.

Using it now would add some insurance for his upcoming plans.

"System, begin the random draw."

[Job Legacy random draw commencing!]

Following the system's cold voice, a golden roulette wheel materialized on the light screen and began spinning rapidly.

Eyes fixed on the spinning wheel, Luke couldn't help but feel expectant.

His first legacy, what kind of job would it be...

Under Luke's focused gaze, the wheel soon stopped, the golden pointer landing firmly on two single-handed swords, one black, one cyan.

Seeing the somewhat familiar icon, Luke's breath caught abruptly.

Could it be...

"Congratulations Host, obtained [Black Swordsman] Job Legacy. Exclusive skill tree unlocked!"
