Heavenbreaker

Chapter 5 – Blacklight Requiem

---

The battlefield was still, but only for a moment.

The Celestarch loomed like a specter of divine wrath. Its towering presence—gilded in white and gold—seemed to warp the very air around it. A vast halo spun around its head like an endless storm, and the sheer intensity of its aura pressed down on everything like the weight of a thousand worlds.

Kaien stood alone at the center of the ruin, eyes still burning red, his breath steady despite the battering he had taken. The echo of death still rang in his ears, and the weight of Fellchain in his grip felt heavier than ever.

The Celestarch tilted its head, a crackle of energy coursing through the air.

> "You do not belong here. This is the realm of gods."

Kaien's lips curled into a small, defiant smirk. His fingers tightened around Fellchain. "The gods aren't here to judge me anymore," he said softly, voice filled with a quiet, simmering rage. "They're just in my way."

The Celestarch's voice rang out once more, a booming force that shook the very foundations of the world.

> "You are an abomination. You will be extinguished as the others were."

---

Before the Celestarch could even complete its sentence, Kaien moved.

He was faster now—quicker than he had ever been before. In an instant, he surged forward, closing the gap between him and the Celestarch. His movements were like liquid, twisting through space, a blur of black fire and broken light.

Fellchain surged with dark energy, its edge gleaming with the promise of death. Kaien swung it with all the fury of a man who had lost everything. The blade met the Celestarch's spear in a violent clash of divine force and cursed metal.

The impact reverberated through the air, a deafening sound that shook the ground beneath them. Sparks flew, a dazzling display of fire and light.

The Celestarch's spear crackled with golden light as it twisted to strike Kaien's chest. The force of the blow sent him skidding backward, his feet tearing through the earth as his body fought to maintain balance. His chest burned with the force of the impact, but he didn't relent.

"You think you can stop me with your light?" Kaien spat, wiping blood from his lips. "I've seen hell. And I'm coming for you."

He dashed forward again, faster this time, launching himself into the air with a brutal twist of his body. Fellchain tore through the space between them like a whip of dark lightning.

The Celestarch's golden spear met the blade once more—but this time, the strike didn't result in a stalemate.

---

Something shifted.

The moment the Celestarch's weapon met Fellchain again, there was a crack. A fracture in the divine armor surrounding the Celestarch. The sound was like thunder, a sudden and violent rupture in reality itself. Kaien felt it in his bones.

It was the first time he realized that the gods—these Celestarchs—weren't invincible. Not anymore.

He moved again, his body trembling with power. Fellchain burned hotter, sharper, the chains of its curse tearing through the Celestarch's divine shield as if they were made of paper.

The Celestarch staggered, momentarily faltering.

Kaien's eyes glinted with a savage triumph. "You are just a god. A god that bleeds."

With a roar, he surged forward, his body propelled by something deeper now—a primal rage that flowed through his veins like the blood of the gods themselves.

---

The Celestarch's eyes flared with rage, its golden armor flashing like a dying sun. It swung its spear once more, the tip aiming for Kaien's heart.

But Kaien was faster.

He dropped low, dodging the attack with a fluidity that was almost unnatural, and in the same motion, he slashed upward with Fellchain. The blade tore through the Celestarch's side, slicing through divine flesh like a knife through air.

The Celestarch roared in pain, the sound deafening, as its body buckled under the force of the blow. The golden light around it dimmed for a moment, and Kaien knew that this was it—their first true victory over the gods.

He pressed the attack.

> "No more games."

With a final, brutal cry, Kaien twisted Fellchain in his hands and brought it down in a merciless arc, severing the Celestarch's golden crown and sending the divine being crashing to the earth.

The explosion of light was blinding, a flood of divine energy ripping through the atmosphere, leaving behind a silent void.

---

Kaien fell to his knees, breath ragged, his body trembling. He had won, yes—but the victory felt hollow. The Celestarch lay in ruins before him, its divine form shattered, but the weight of the battle had drained him.

As he caught his breath, the voice of the chained figure in his vision returned—its words a constant echo in the back of his mind.

> "You are mine. And I am yours."

Kaien's eyes widened, his body shuddering. He looked down at Fellchain in his hands, his grip tightening around the blade. Something—someone—was watching him. The same figure from his vision. The chains. The curse.

He was no longer the same.

Riven appeared beside him, her face unreadable as she surveyed the wreckage. "You did it," she said quietly, a trace of awe in her voice. "You actually killed a Celestarch."

Kaien didn't reply. He simply stared at the ruins, his mind spiraling into chaos.
