The trip was long and tiring but at last, Naila finally made it to Merridew State. She was obliged to drop her weapons at a relative's place in the nearby state due to the heavy security policy of this state .
She still clearly remembered how her grand father's and the guests' shocked expressions when she told them she was leaving that same night. The only reason she gave was that she has been recruited for a job very far from there. She did not tell them she was going to Merridew because that might cause trouble, knowing that there was no hunter in that state and that she might be all by herself at the mercy of the rogues. She also asked Travis to keep it as a secret.
Her grand father also tried to dissuade her from going but she refused to listen. He knew how stubborn she was when she had something in mind.
" Naila, dinner is ready" a woman called out her name, standing at the door to Naila's room. The woman was her friend from high school Edna. She lived in Merridew but during the high school period, she moved out to take care of her sick grandmother who lived in the same town like her grand father at that time.
Edna always had feelings for Travis but they couldn't be together since she was a witch and he was a hunter.
When Edna she told Edna that she was coming to Merridew, the witch offered her to stay at her place since she lived alone and felt lonely.
Edna knew the reason for Naila's arrival and that didn't bother her the least. She only worried about her friend who was throwing herself in the lion's den since only a few inhabitants of the state were humans. The rest were either werewolves, witches or vampires. And since there was no hunter here, the level of criminality was obviously higher than in other states. But apart from that, Merridew was known to be the most beautiful State in the country and had many other advantages , which attracted people and made them to enjoy their lives there.
" I'm coming" Naila climbed off the bed and stepped out of her room. She went downstairs and sat saw that Edna had already placed the food on the dining table. She sat and they started eating.
" Can you tell me about your new job?" Edna asked.
"All I know is that I am gonna be someone's assistant. Nothing more ".
" When are you starting work?"
"Tomorrow morning "
There was now silence in the room until Edna spoke again" Naila, I am really worried. If anyone hears that you are a hunter, they won't hesitate to kill you. So forget everything about your huntress' life. Even though you see a rogue attacking someone, don't act. The police will take care of that. Got it?" She was serious. She knew that if she spoke about hunters even though it's out for jokes, she will be suspected.
" Don't bother. I know what I am doing". Naila assured her.

" Zayn, your elder brother asked me to give you this " Oscar, a fair haired man handed a folder to the tattooed one, visibly called Zayn.
" What does it contain?" Zayn took the file and opened it. He saw the picture of a dark haired girl with hazel eyes.
" This is your new assistant's contract"
" Naila Cyrus... I see. So she starts work tomorrow, right?" He was reading the files inside the folder.
"Exactly" Oscar replied.
"Good. You may leave" Oscar turned around and left.
When he was finally alone, Zayn looked again at the girl's picture as if inspecting something." Where have I seen you..uhm, Miss Cyrus? Your face looks really familiar to me" he muttered to himself and then stared at his left arm, where a tattoo once existed .
