There was this feeling that made Alaric deeply uncomfortable.
Over the last few days it felt like his scar got unusually tingly.
It felt like it was connecting to something, ever since that evening where he unconsciously telepathically lifted the water in the glass.
The feeling was indescribable, but the closest comparison he could give would be the feeling of letting blood flow trough a body part that got cut of from it after one sits badly for some time.
And this evening, right before going to bed in his bedroom, yes, his bedroom, since after he displayed his way heightened intelligence and his willingness to delve deeper into studies that kids his age wouldn't even consider to think about the caretake gave him a small room for himself. After all, before the age of 12 the kids were generally grouped together as 4 in order to make it less costly on the institution.
He felt like his scar had filled up with something. As if it was ready to do something, it felt like something bound by a rope of energy—tense, waiting. If he pulled hard enough, with the right intention... something would happen... His curiosity obviously got the better of him and pull, he did.
Suddenly it felt as if he got kicked in the stomach by a wrecking ball and he didn't even know anymore where up and down was. He just felt fell to the ground, grass beneath his hands while he was holding his stomach lying down in the dirt.
After a minute he managed to pull himself together and look around.
It was a landscape unlike any other he had seen in his new lifetime. A pure landscape, forest all around him and a trampled dirt path going in two directions. The trees were huge and he couldn't even fathom to identify the tree sort. They were simply somehow different. Like they were filled with the same energy that flew through the air.
At that point he only realized that he felt an energy in the air. Something he never felt before. It was weird, not a bad weird, a weird as in seeing a color for the first time that wouldn't fit into the typical color spectrum you know.
In this place the sun also seemed to be going down, an it would probably become a pure black night without any sort of light with him.
So, Alaric did the only somewhat best idea that came into his mind, walk along the path.
It was weird for him since he had never, in both of his lives seen a place with a vegetation as this one. Already he was wondering if he was on an alien planet, because of the energy that filled everything around him.
The dirt beneath his feet, the tree around him, the air that e breathed and… himself.
This time not just the scar, but his whole body. As if he was a sponge interacting with water for the first time. His scar was also filling with energy and he expected that in a few hours he would be able to use it again, to return back to his room.
After all he had this newly popped up sense as if he could take in a whole new dimension, and it let him to believe that his scar acted like a key to a door.
After walking for around 20 minutes, he discovered a village in the distance, not very far since if it were, the tree canopy would've denied the vision to him.
After traveling another 10 minutes he arrived at the village.
He looked around after seeing the nonexistent electricity installations in this village filled with little more than 2 dozen dirt huts and a single house made properly in the middle of it, he thought to himself that he had arrived in a dirt-poor village in Asia somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
He made that decision based on the fact that there was rice planted on the fields and it looked just like the screenshots of his pc in his past live. Although there was also grain planted, it looked like it was mainly rice.
That was until he saw a farmer in the field summoning a hoe out of nowhere and seeing a white circle appear behind him.
"No way" Alaric muttered.
He continued observing the man screaming "First Soul Skill: Dirt Breaker".
Suddenly his hoe started glowing and after he swung it at the dirt beneath him it ripped open the dirt for a dozen meters.
Instantly it clicked in his mind "This is Douluo Dalu"
His mind going into overdrive processing what he just saw and realized.
"My scar, it fills with energy and let's me transport to another world. In this case Douluo Dalu. I wonder which one of the series I went to. Hopefully I, because I know Jackshit about the other ones."
Going into the village he soon encountered 2 men, one of whom seemed to be a merchant trying to sell the other a seemingly handmade cooking pan.
Suddenly the customer looked over.
"Where do you come from little guy? I haven't seen you around here so far, and I'm pretty sure I know all the kids running around." he asked.
"Hello Mister, I come from the Martial Hunting Village. It's deep In the forest and usually we don't really interact with other people, but I turned 6 recently, and since our village of 13 is too small for a Spirit Master from the Spirit Hall to make the extra effort of coming over, my father sent me out to go along the street and find a village to ask when the Martial Soul awakening is about to happen." Alaric answered.
"Oh, I didn't know that there was a village like that near us, but you are in very much in luck. The Spirit Master is about to arrive this evening in our Silver Flower Village and per custom awakens the Martial Souls in the morning after having rested from his journey. By the way, I go by the name of Zhao Tian, little one" The villager told him with a warm smile.
"Oh, may I also get my Martial Soul awoken then?" Alaric asked.
"Sure, I will tell the village chief about it. But you will probably have to sleep outside tonight, everyone is excited for their kids awakening and won't take in another kid for the night to potentially keep their children awake." The villager told Alaric.
"It's ok, it doesn't seem like it's going to rain." Alaric told him.
"Okay, well then just come to the Spirit Awakening Hall in the morning as soon as the sun is up. Old Liu, we will have to talk about the price of that pan tomorrow morning again. After all what's a pan against the future of a small youngster like him." the village
"Alright, I will come tomorrow morning to the gathering as well. Might be a good place to sell the rest of my wares" Old Liu answered.
After saying each other goodbye, Alaric went back along the forest, went behind a tree and activated his scar.
"Right back to where I left." He muttered with a smile. The small worry that his scar would send him randomly into the middle of a black hole disappearing.
"Man, I'm lucky. My scar is a fucking teleporter to another world. And not just any world, but Douluo Dalu where I can potentially become a frickin God. Surely someday I can figure out how to make it to another world and potentially see the rest of the infinite multiverse." He thought loud.
Of course this night he wouldn't spend in the pitch black forest where god knows what beasts run around. After all right now he's just a 6 year old with a cool scar.
No Powers.
No magic fuckery.
No fancy swordplay.
Nothing.
"Either way let's go to bed and set the alarm clock for an hour earlier. I wonder what my Martial Soul will be." Thought to himself while already halfway off to sleep.
