Chapter 5 - 5

It was at this moment that he truly breathed a sigh of relief, no longer keeping his nerves strung as tight as before.

This was, after all, not a Game. He wasn't the truly immortal Steve either. Although he possessed Character-like Characteristics from the Game, he wouldn't dare to bet on reviving on the spot if it wasn't absolutely necessary.

And this Skeleton was his first battle since coming to this World. Being cautious wasn't without its benefits. At least he wasn't seriously injured, and he had successfully obtained a Bone, which was a source of bone powder.

Fang Bie got up from the ground with some difficulty. Having just finished a battle, he surprisingly felt his legs were a bit weak. However, he quickly adjusted. This little battle was nothing. If he couldn't adjust quickly, how would he deal with those strange and bizarre Monsters later?

He still felt quite a sense of accomplishment. Although using a hard method was a bit cowardly, how could a scholar's actions be called cowardly? He was merely acting from the heart.

Fang Bie quietly poked his head out from the Hole Entrance, raised an Axe, and chopped down the Tree that was blocking the Sun for Xiao Bai (Skeleton Archer's nickname). He then climbed out of the Hole Entrance with some difficulty.

He didn't have the jumping ability of an ordinary Steve, who could jump one meter high with ease. He could only carefully support himself and climb out of the Hole, which was much more strenuous than climbing onto a table.

Killing the Skeleton was considered a reward. Fang Bie suddenly felt that the Plain was still somewhat dangerous. If his birthplace had been on the Sea Surface, as long as he built his Home far enough away from the Land, he wouldn't have to worry about being attacked by Monsters, of course, assuming no particularly powerful Monsters appeared.

Fang Bie had only discovered one other Mod for the time being, which also meant that this World might not be composed of a single Mod, but possibly a mixture of many Mods.

Therefore, he remained vigilant, wondering what kind of way this Mod mixture was implemented. However, in his subsequent life, he should encounter other things. In any case, he had plenty of time to slowly discern them.

Following the direction he had come from, he quickly found his House. His Item Inventory was already filled with various Seeds, as well as Trees, Apples, and Soil. It also contained some Sugarcane, Mutton, and Wool. In addition, some Mushrooms that grew on the Grassland and the Sand he had dug by the Pondside had also returned to this Room with him.

This Room was not large. Apart from a Bed, a simple Bedside Table, and a Chair for resting, there was also a wall of Boxes.

As a standard obsessive-compulsive, Fang Bie liked to organize and categorize things, whether in Games or in reality. This made finding things not only convenient but also prevented major oversights.

Currently, his House was still relatively small, and he hadn't built a wall of Boxes like in the Game to store items. Instead, he simply filled one wall with Boxes, a full 16 Boxes, neatly stacked against the wall.

This was another difference between the Game and reality. In the Game, two Boxes could not be placed side by side because they would directly merge into a large Box, and another Box could not be placed around them, only stacked on top of the Box.

However, the Boxes that Fang Bie placed now could be placed directly in a row as long as he mentally defaulted to not merging them, without needing to leave gaps between them. This could also be considered a kind of reality correction.

Then, he put these things away in categories. Stones with Stones, Soil with Soil, Food in a separate Box, and the miscellaneous items dropped by Monsters in another separate place.

In addition, he also needed to categorize Seeds and different plant flowers. Fang Bie was quite adept at sorting these things. Anyway, he only needed to gently touch those Boxes and could use his mind to transfer the items on his body into the Boxes, which wouldn't take him too much time.

At this time, the Sun in the sky had already begun to set in the west. He estimated that it would completely go down the Mountain in at most an hour.

Fang Bie took a Wooden Pickaxe and prepared to dig out some Stones from this open-air Mountains to make Stone Tools and a Furnace.

After all, he couldn't survive on just eating these Fruits. The Mutton from before also had to be cooked. Even without Coal, Wood could be used as Fuel for grilling. Although the Food function of this Game wasn't very developed, since he had already discovered this extra Food Mod, it also meant that he could basically recreate most of the dishes in the World through this Mod.

The remaining hour was enough for him to dig out some things on this Mountains, which, apart from the row of Trees he had planted, had no shelter at all.

Fang Bie also considered this to be based on experience. As long as there was no completely light-proof place, Monsters would not refresh during Daytime. And as long as he timed it right to go to Bed and sleep, waking up directly on the morning of the first Day, the Monsters at night would not refresh around him either. This could also be considered a way to clear the Game.

Completely different from the feeling of chopping Wood, every time he swung the Pickaxe and touched the Stone, many Cracks would appear on the Stone. Moreover, he didn't need to exert real force to dig. After the Pickaxe touched the Stone for the fourth time, the Stone immediately shattered into a Block with many circular patterns on it, floating on the ground.

This was because in the Game, after Stone was shattered, it would become Cobblestone, which was Stone that had been mined.

Fang Bie didn't look at this Stone much. He still needed a lot of Stones. The time to dig one Stone was about 20 seconds, which wasn't considered very long.

He decided to use up the durability of the Wooden Pickaxe in his hand and then directly make Stone Tools, which would also be just right to roast the few pieces of Mutton he had brought back.

"This is..." Fang Bie saw the black stuff on the surface below the Stone he had dug out. He hesitantly raised the Pickaxe in his hand. Because the sky was getting dark, he couldn't immediately discern the true appearance of this thing, so he could only dig it to try.

As he expected, after swinging the Pickaxe five or six times, this Stone turned into a floating black Block that appeared in front of him, and its name was clearly floating in front of Fang Bie's eyes, "Coal".

Joy appeared on Fang Bie's face. This was exactly what he wanted. Although he knew that Coal actually had a high probability of being produced on open-air Mountains, seeing such a thing for the first time still made him excited.

Looking at the pitch-black area exposed beneath his feet, he knew that this should be an open-air Coal Mine, and the reserves should be considerable.

He immediately dropped the Pickaxe in his hand, took out a Workbench, and used the Stones he had dug out to synthesize a Stone Pickaxe.

"Time is running out, I need to dig out all of this Coal before dark!"
