Chapter 7 - Ruining Nathan's Day (1)

Nathan and his friends were seated at a round table in the corner. They were laughing as they ate, clearly enjoying their afternoon. Their table was filled with expensive dishes, and their glasses were filled with the most exquisite wines.

"Haha, did you see Gray's face earlier? It was so damn funny." Nathan uttered out loud.

The satisfaction of making fun of someone was really fun, especially when he knew that Gray was powerless.

"He looked like a puppy, didn't he? One that would wag his tail if you call for him." one of his friends added, chuckling.

"Yeah, and his sister? Poor kid. I almost felt bad for her. Just almost." The other guy laughed as he stuffed his mouth with food.

Nathan shook his head, still grinning.

"I can't believe that guy is still around though. Thought he'd be working in a factory by now or sweeping streets. But instead, he was eating here."

"Oh well, don't mind him. He must be scrapping some pennies to afford food here. Their table earlier looked bare with only a few dishes. When I looked at the menu, they weren't even that expensive."

Their laughter grew louder.

Just then, a waiter passed by carrying a tray. He moved carefully, but one of Nathan's friends stuck out his leg slightly, making the waiter stumble.

"Whoa—! S-sorry, sir!" the waiter quickly apologized, though he didn't drop anything.

"Tsk. You better be careful." Nathan said and rolled his eyes. "You almost spilled that on my new pants. Did you know that this cost more than your salary? Anyway, go away. You're running my mood."

The friends burst into laughter again.

The waiter quickly bowed and walked away with reddened face. He looked ashamed, even embarrassed.

"God, I love this place," Nathan said, picking up his wine glass. "Being rich just makes everything better."

Just as they were talking, two girls approached their table. When Nathan spotted them, he instantly straightened his back. His grin also turned into a charming smile.

"Hey, ladies," Nathan said smoothly. He raised a glass and smiled at them.

"You two are just right on time."

The two girls smiled. They were both beautiful and looked like they came from rich families.

One had long brown hair that curled at the ends. She wore a white dress that showed the curves of her body and her smooth and flawless skin. She was also wearing gold jewelry and her makeup was light but flawless.

The other one had short black hair and wore a blue dress that hugged her figure. She was petite, but it was noticeable that her breasts were large. Her eyes were sharp, but her lips curled into a gentle smile.

Nathan quickly stood up and pulled out chairs for them like a gentleman. As if he wasn't making fun of people earlier.

"Come, sit, ladies. You'll love the food here," he said warmly.

His friends sat straighter too, hiding the arrogance they had just shown earlier. They smiled politely at the girls and tried to act properly.

The two girls sat down, nodding and thanking them. They glanced around the place.

"It's nice here," the girl in the blue dress said.

"I knew you'd like it, Chloe" Nathan replied as he flashed his best smile.

Everything about him changed in a second. He went from mocking people to pretending to be a perfect gentleman.

What they didn't know was that Gray was watching them from afar. Gray noticed the look that Nathan had. It was the same smile he had whenever he was trying to impress someone.

"Pft- that look…" Gray silently laughed. He turned his head at Lily and smiled sweetly at her.

"Lily, your brother will just go somewhere. Just eat here and don't leave, okay?" Gray gently reminded Lily.

"Sure, brother." Lily, who was eating wholeheartedly nodded. She didn't mind anything, and her attention was solely just on food.

"Alright. I'll come back soon." Gray stood up slowly and fixed his shirt. He also fixed the way he looked.

Gray looked calm, but inside, he was already planning something.

If they could ruin his day, then he could also do that too.

Gray walked toward their table. He was already near when Nathan noticed him.

"What are you doing here?" Nathan's smile twitched as he asked, trying not to sound too annoyed in front of the girls.

Gray smiled brightly as if he was very happy to see Nathan.

"Nathan," he said with a friendly tone. "I'm just here to say thank you for treating me some food. What a good friend you are."

Nathan blinked in surprise. His lips parted like he wanted to say something, but he stopped. His nice act can't be ruined when the girls are watching him.

"Oh, you're friends?" one of the girls asked, curious.

"Yes," Gray said with a straight face. "We went to the same school. Nathan and I go way back."

The two girls looked at each other. It was obvious that they didn't know that much about Nathan. Their eyes briefly scanned Gray's clothes.

Gray was only wearing simple clothes, it was plain, with no sign of any luxury. But surprisingly, his clothes match well with him.

Gray was tall. He also had a good build from years of juggling different physical work. He had dark brown hair that was slightly messy, and his brown eyes suited him.

Despite the plain clothes, there was something about his presence that felt bold, confident, and just cool.

"I'm Emily. It's nice to meet you." The girl with long hair tilted her head. She smiled, and her eyes looked a little interested in Gray.

"I'm Gray," he smiled back at her.

"I'm Chloe, by the way," The short girl also introduced herself. "Do you mind if I ask you to join us?"

'This motherfucker…' Nathan's gaze squinted at Gray, glaring at him.
