The music thumped through the walls of the house as people danced as if their lives depended on it.
Ava and I moved skillfully through the crowd as we made our way towards the table filled with drinks.
"I told you this was going to be fun" Ava said shouting over the loud music just so I could hear her. It was only a matter of time before the neighbours called the corps on us.
"Fun is one way to put it" I shouted back. I wasn't used to all these types of parties. I mostly stayed at my dorm lost in my books but today was different.
Even though I didn't want to, I found myself scanning the crowd but there was no sign of him.
Ava said something but I wasn't able to catch it on time. I looked over at her with a raised eyebrow. She rolled her eyes and said again.
"I know somewhere else we can go that is better than this" she said again.
Before I could even reply, she started dragging me towards the stairs of the basement. As we went downstairs the music upstairs dimmed and the one in the basement grew louder.
It was different from the one upstairs, a more slow playing music.
Down here there were different kinds of games being played. Bear pong, flip cups, kings and truth or dare.
"Ava, so glad you could make it". We both turned around to see Dave walking towards us with a drink in he's hand.
"And Jade, wasn't expecting you to actually come but it's good to see you"
"Good to see you too" I said with a half hearted smile.
"Why don't you join us in a game of truth or dare?" he said as he took a sip of he's drink.
I opened my mouth to decline but Ava beat me to it. "We would love to", she said giving me a sweet smile as I inwardly cursed myself for ever agreeing to come to this party in the first place.
"Yo Hans" Dave shouted to someone in the group "Make room for more people" he said as we walked over to them.
"Sylas why don't you join us?".Dave said more of a command than a question to the wall which I then realised was actually a tall lean figure dressed in dark clothes.
"You have to participate in something". The figure stood straight and my eyes widened slightly as I realised that it was the guy with the silver eyes that I couldn't stop thinking about.
"Sure, I don't see why not" he said in a deep masculine voice as he walked over to us.
He didn't look at me but I could tell for some reason that he knew I was there.
After all of us had settled down, we started a new game. "Okay". Dave said "we all know how this game goes so I'm going to skip the introduction and start first." he looked around first before finally speaking.
"Ava, truth or dare". It went around like this for a while before it was finally my turn to choose.
Hans turned to me and grinned and I didn't like that one bit.
"Truth or dare Jade." I signed, this was it. "dare".
His grin grew wider and he tapped his chin pretending to be in deep thought "I dare you" he said his eyes landing on Sylas and if possible her grin grew wider.
"To kiss Sylas" my heart sank, everything around me suddenly stopped as the shouts of agreement grew.
Out of everything he had to choose that. I glanced at Ava and she shrugged her shoulders.
I signed, stood up and walked over to where Sylas was. I could hear some whispers saying 'is she really going to do it?'.
It's nothing, just a kiss. I bent over, my eyes meeting his for a quick second before my lips touched he's.
It wasn't just a peck. My hand coiled into the fabric of his shirt and for a moment, the room melted into nothing. He's lips tasted mint and something darker that I couldn't place Warmth bloomed in my chest and the moment stretched just long enough to feel dangerous.
I finally pulled away and the crowd erupted into cheers.I looked around to see Han's smug face and Ava looked like she had just experienced a plot twist.
My eyes met Sylas again and this time, instead of the cold look, his eyes were filled with curiosity. It came and was gone so fast I thought I had imagined it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Jade and Sylas" Hans said and I wished right there that I could punch him in the face.
Just as I was heading back to my seat, shouts from upstairs could be heard. Someone bursts through the basement door and shouts police and that's how everywhere erupts into chaos.
