"Hyun!"
Taemin's voice cut through the air sharply, snapping the chef out of his trance.
"Are you deaf? How many times do I have to call you?" he scolded, his tone laced with irritation. Hyun instinctively looked down, lips pouting in silent protest.
Why is he always so rude?
If I marry this man, will I have to endure his scolding every single day?
"Why are you silent now? Don't tell me you're actually deaf," Taemin sneered again, his words slicing through the thick silence.
Hyun's eyes slowly lifted, glaring at the CEO with simmering anger.
"I'm not deaf. Can't you see my ears? They're practically antennas,"
He snapped, but his sarcasm barely had a second to breathe before Taemin slammed his palm onto the desk, the loud thud making Hyun jump.
"Do. Not. Talk. Back. To me."
The elder's voice was cold, each word carrying a weight that made Hyun swallow hard.
Who does he think he is? Just look at him, thin as a broomstick. Did he forget that I'm a man too?
Yah!,Hyuna show him, what can you do to him?
Hyun clenched his fist under the table, struggling to keep his composure. But just as he was take an action against him,Taemin slammed the desk again.
"I'm sorry! I won't repeat it," Hyun blurted out, cursing himself for backing down from his act.
Why am I acting so submissive towards him?
The great Min hyun who is good at everything, what happened to him suddenly?.
"How do you know my aunt",taemin asks seriously looking at Hyun breaking his trance.
"When I was 14years old, I went to a mountain to paint a picture, there I saw a women sitting on the ground looking so sad, As I went there,I offered her some cookies, I baked for the first time making her to smile at me."
"From that day onwards, gradually our continues visit made us friends. As time passed she told me to call her aunt which I accepted gladly…but i didn't thought she will also leave me at the same time as my parents",Hyun utters remembering his moments with her.
"I clearly remembered that day..I was so happy to meet her after a long time..but I didn't thought that…it will become my last meeting…I.."
Hyun states with teary eyes
remembering the memories with her making taemin to look away from him with a vivid emotion.
"Don't worry Taemin-shi,she is a good person, so she will be in heaven, but...Do you really want to marry me?",
Hyun asks being unsure at his words but the elders words makes him speechless.
"Do you think I have enough time to waste on you Hyun-shi~"taemin states making stress on his name making him to huff at that.
Aish!why did I told him to call me Hyun?
"No,that's not what I mean,you are a CEO also a billionaire and I am Just a owner of a small restaurant..so I thought you-"
"If I even once thought like that…then you shouldn't be sitting here infront of me in my cabin"
Taemin says with anger evident, how come Hyun think think him as a rich bastard, who gives importance to class rather then people.
Why is he so harsh all the time?
Hyun wondered, sighing internally.
He'd always dreamed of a partner who would love and pamper him like his parents, but taemin looks completely opposite to his ideal type creating hesitation to accept the proposal.
"Do you love someone?" hyun asks cautiously after a minute,as The last thing he never wanted is being a third wheel someone's life.
"I've never been in love, Hyun," Taemin said, his voice calm but distant. "Don't you know it's a waste of time?"
But in those words, Hyun saw something... hidden sorrow, buried deep behind practiced indifference.
"If you are done your interview can you give me your answer?",
Elder says being done with these questions, he didn't understand why someone has to know this much about other to get married, Didn't he simply decide to marry to hyun as per his aunt's wish?.Then why the hell is he taking this much time? It's just a marriage, right?.
"Taemin-shi,I'm ready for this marriage."
Hyun answers after thinking for a while,
whatever may be situation he can't deny his parents last wish just like that, his elders loves him too much to take any bad decision about him. If they want hyun to marry taemin even knowing how he is, there must be a valid reason. And it's not good to judge a book by its cover
As hyun being successful to start a life with someone,As him never having any past relationship which can stop him clears weaves way for him to say yes.
so why can't he give it a try,if things gets worse there is always another option for him.
with that thought hyun finally agrees making taemin to huff at looking at the time he took to give an answer.
"Okay,then.. our wedding will held on next week,I'll arrange all the arrangements you just have to stand at aisle",
Taemin states while going towards his seat making hyun to internally glare at him.
Is it only your marriage?.
It is also my marriage don't you ask me you should ask me what I want in it?
"But I also want to-"
"You can go now."He cuts him blantly making Hyun to blink his eyes.
"What??
Do you really want me to go without even giving me the right to decide what I want in my own wedding,?
Like seriously…How could you be so mean?
you!!"
His thoughts burned with frustration as he stood up slowly, glaring at Taemin's turned back.
"What are you still doing here?" Taemin said with a sigh, clearly noticing the lingering presence.
"Junki is waiting outside. If you've got any wedding fantasies, tell him. I'll have it arranged."
The words were blunt, but Hyun couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.
At least he's giving me that.
"Okay then. Bye, Taemin-shi."
Taemin rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed by Hyun's enthusiasm.
"Why are you getting excited over small things?"Taemin whispered back
But Hyun didn't care.
Because sometimes, it's the small things that make the biggest difference.
30 minutes later
_______________
The car rolled steadily through the city, a soft hum filling the silence between them. Junki kept his eyes on the road, while Hyun sat in the back seat, gazing out of the window, lost in thought.
Hyun just finished discussing the wedding details, with Junki enthusiastically offering to drop him off.since he was also the one who had picked him up as per his boss's order.
After a moment, Hyun leaned forward slightly, resting his arms on the back of the front seat.
"Junki-shi," he began, his tone casual, "how old are you?"
Junki glanced at him through the rearview mirror, then smiled.
"I was born in 1996. So if you subtract that from 2024... that makes me 28."
Hyun blinked.
Is he seriously telling me to do math now?
He furrowed his brows, lips twitching in amusement at the oddly formal reply.
"Since you're older than me, you should call me Hyun. And I'll call you junkie hyung. Sounds good?"
Junki chuckled softly, nodding. "Sure, Hyun. That sounds fair."
There was something genuine in Junki's smile..simple, friendly, and warm. The atmosphere inside the car felt lighter now, more relaxed.
But that peace shattered quickly.
"Oh my God!,Junkie Hyung!" Hyun suddenly yelped, making Junki flinch slightly while immediately steering the car toward the roadside.
"What? What happened?" Junki asked, concerned, eyes darting between Hyun and the traffic as he began to reverse the car.
Hyun leaned forward in panic, voice laced with regret.
"I forgot to give my new dish to Taemin-shi, which I carried."
Junki's foot instinctively slammed the brake in a traffic free road. His head snapped toward Hyun, eyes wide with disbelief.
No. No. No. Not that dish.
Hyun's expression was nothing short of tragic,as if he had just failed his life's mission.
Junki swallowed thickly.
Boss finally agreed to the marriage,If he eats that dish, hewill never gonna marry him.
No,No..I can't let that happen!
That food..no offense..it was a slow posion disguised as a tasty meal.
Thinking quickly, Junki put on his best reassuring voice, though it wavered slightly under the pressure.
"Hyun… we've already driven pretty far from the office, and Boss is going to be in meetings for the next two hours anyway. So, there's no point going back now. Do-n't worry. I'll deliver the dish to him myself once I return. Sound good?"
Please say yes Hyun,please!!
Listening his words,Hyun's expression softened.
"okay then.Just tell him I made it,so at least he'll know,he is going to marry a good chef, whose food is famous in entire seoul."
*coughing*
There was an unmistakable glimmer of pride in Hyun's eyes.
Junki forced a supportive smile, trying not to recall the chaos that erupted in his stomach after the first bite earlier.
"Su-re, Hyun," he managed to say, clearing his throat, while driving off to the destination.
May the heavens protect our boss.
I'd rather starve, than to ever step foot in that restaurant.
I'm sorry boss,I can't do anything accept for praying for your health.
