Chapter 1 - Chapter : 1 : Just Us, Just This

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Yuki whispered, one hand reaching up to gently push against Shin's chest. It was useless. The man didn't budge.

Shin leaned down, his nose barely brushing Yuki's. "Like what?"

"Like you're about to eat me."

A grin tugged at Shin's lips. "I am about to eat you."

Yuki giggled softly, that high-pitched, sweet laugh that only Shin ever got to hear. "You're such a dog."

Shin smirked, dropping a kiss on Yuki's forehead. "Woof."

"Stop!" Yuki squealed, but his voice betrayed him though there was no fear, only thrill.

Shin dipped lower, his warm breath ghosting over Yuki's neck. "You say 'stop,' but you're smiling, kiddo."

Yuki bit his lip, his face flushed now as he tried to suppress the grin. "My love… you're so mean… I am above 18 years old."

"Only to you," Shin replied smoothly, nipping gently at Yuki's shoulder. "And you love it."

Yuki shivered beneath him. "I do," he whispered. "I really do."

There was silence for a moment. Just their bodies pressed together, warmth shared under the sheets.

Shin looked down at him—his beautiful, delicate Yuki, who looked like he barely belonged in this world.

So soft. So girly. So damn cute. But so strong in ways only Shin knew.

"I missed this," Shin murmured. "Just you. Me. This bed."

Yuki wrapped his arms around Shin's neck, tugging him down until their foreheads touched. "We've been married for what, two weeks?" he teased. "You already miss me that much? Only after 2-3 hours?"

Shin closed his eyes, pressing their foreheads together harder. "Every second I'm not touching you feels like a mistake."

Yuki's breath hitched. His heart swelled. "You're such a sap…"

"Only for you."

They laid there, tangled, bare and warm under the covers. Shin's teasing calmed into soft kisses along Yuki's collarbone. Yuki giggled, wrapping his legs lightly around Shin's waist.

"You're heavy," he whispered with a pout.

"You're soft," Shin shot back, smirking again.

Yuki gave him a little slap on the shoulder. "Hey! You love it!"

"I do love it," Shin growled, grabbing Yuki's sides and giving them a playful squeeze that made Yuki squeal and twist under him.

"Sh-Shin!" Yuki gasped, laughing breathlessly. "You're such a bully!"

"I'm your bully," Shin said proudly.

"My big, dumb dog," Yuki muttered affectionately, burying his face in Shin's neck.

"My beautiful little brat, woof!" Shin teased, brushing a hand through Yuki's hair.

Yuki giggled, "Stop that," Though he loves that, mostly because Shin has done this from the very beginning.

Eventually, Yuki stirred. "Do you think people see us as a cute married couple?"

"Of course they do. You wear that ridiculous smile every time I even glance at you."

Yuki pouted. "It's not ridiculous…"

"It's adorable," Shin corrected quickly, pinching Yuki's cheek. "You light up like a lovesick puppy."

"You do too."

"Nope," Shin said confidently. "I'm too cool for that."

Yuki stared at him.

"…Okay maybe a little," Shin admitted, laughing. "But can you blame me? I married the cutest guy in the whole damn world."

Yuki's face turned redder than a strawberry. "You're gonna kill me one day with all this sweet talk."

"I'll carry you to the afterlife in my arms, then."

"So dramatic…" Yuki whispered with a grin, his eyes softening. "But I love that about you."

Shin sighed and rested his head against Yuki's chest, closing his eyes. "You know I'm never gonna stop teasing you, right?"

"I know."

"And you're never gonna stop being adorable and reacting exactly how I want."

Yuki smiled, fingers running gently through Shin's hair. "I know."

"Then I guess we're stuck like this forever."

"Forever sounds good," Yuki whispered.

Few minutes later, Shin spoke up.

"So, you remember, how we met?"

Yuki pretended to thought for a second, before replying, "I do. It was..."

Five Years Ago...

It was raining that day.

Not the soft, poetic kind of rain that comes with melancholy romance, but the kind that soaks your clothes in thirty seconds and turns sidewalks into slip-and-slides. Umbrellas flipped inside-out. Shoes squelched. The air smelled like wet pavement and fast food grease.

Yuki didn't care.

He sat alone under the half-broken shelter of a bus stop, knees pulled close to his chest, his flimsy hoodie doing a poor job of protecting his delicate frame.

His white, short hair was damp and clinging to his cheeks, his phone screen was cracked, and his mood was worse than the weather.

It was supposed to be his first day at the new city.

He had been excited. Anxious, but excited. A new city, a fresh start. A chance to just… be himself. Or maybe be someone else. He hadn't decided yet.

And then it all fell apart. Wrong bus. Wrong stop. Wrong direction. No umbrella. No one to call. And worst of all—he was hungry.

"Great," Yuki muttered, voice soft and a little hoarse from the cold. "First day in a new city and I already hate it."

A sudden splash interrupted his pity party.

A truck had just drove through a huge puddle, sending a wave of water toward the shelter. Yuki flinched, expecting to get even wetter, but instead, a large figure blocked the wave like a wall of muscle and black fabric.

"You okay, kiddo?"

The voice was deep. Calm. But there was something warm in it, like it didn't belong to the storm around them.

Yuki looked up—and blinked.
