Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 – Blood-Headed Spider

Cael steadied his thoughts and faced a critical question:How do I warn the authorities?

Should he go straight to the City Patrol Bureau?

"No way," Cael muttered. "What if someone on the inside is a follower of the Outsider Gods? The Eye of All-Seeing is still only Level 3. Its reach is limited. And with no anchoring correlation, I can't even deduce what's happening inside the government."

If a traitor leaked his identity... could he, a powerless orphan, survive the retaliation?

No.The only safe path was to send the intel anonymously—without risking exposure.

After pacing for a while, an idea lit up in his mind like a spark:"Of course! Let the message fly over!"

He grabbed a pencil and a sheet of plain paper, sketching out several rough but clear images.

These were based directly on the visions he'd seen—tangible evidence for whoever might receive them. They weren't masterpieces, but the details were accurate enough for any trained eye to recognize.

Next, Cael gathered materials and began crafting his delivery system.

After an hour of work, everything was ready.

He double-checked every piece. No errors. "Let's wait for nightfall," he whispered.

Later that day...

After lunch, Cael lay down and entered deep sleep using his signature Draven Breathing Method. He woke refreshed, then focused on his ongoing goal—advancing the Trueflame Remnant Seal.

It was still incomplete. But even now, it showed remarkable abilities.

He wanted to know what it could become once perfected.

His first attempt at deduction failed. No surprise. He closed his eyes and tried again.

"Analyze the sun... complete the Remnant Seal."

A wave of strange coolness rolled over his scalp. The spiritual orb inside his mind blazed with light. Then came a warm pulse that flooded his whole body.

It felt incredible.

A message appeared:

Analysis Successful!

Proficiency +8Current Proficiency: 34 / 1000Spirit Value: 7.2 / 13.3

Cael blinked.Wait—13.3?

The cap had increased from 13.2.

"Looks like the seal and my spirit power boost each other," he said aloud. "The stronger I am, the stronger it becomes—and vice versa."

He raised a finger, channeling power into the Trueflame Seal.

A tiny orb of light bloomed at his fingertip, casting a glow that lit the entire room.

"A built-in flashlight," Cael grinned. "Saves me candle money too."

He checked the Seal again.

Trueflame Remnant Seal

Completeness: 0.86%

"Not even one percent," Cael sighed. "Still a long road ahead."

7:00 PM

Night cloaked the Spirit Realm district of Keats.

Cael left his apartment with his schoolbag and bicycle, heading toward the main gate.

"Woof! Woof!" barked Taozi and Lizi—the two patrol mastiffs stationed outside.

Cael waved. "Out of candles. Just going to pick some up."

The dogs quieted.

There was a small shop inside Keats Block, but it was overpriced. Most residents, including Cael, preferred to buy from larger stores farther away.

He arrived at one such store, bought a pack of ten candles, and exited swiftly.

But instead of heading straight back, Cael detoured into a forested area and hid his bicycle.

There, he pulled out a handmade sky lantern—a Kongming Lantern. He folded his drawings and tucked them inside, then added a stub of candle at the base.

This was his delivery system.

He smiled. "Anyone else trying this would fail. But with the Eye of All-Seeing?I know exactly where to launch it."

He'd already used the Eye multiple times to find the best location.

According to the predictions, the lantern would drift northeast for over 600 meters and land perfectly—at a Patrol Bureau outpost.More specifically, the training ground behind that outpost.

The officer stationed there took nightly walks around the yard. It was time.

Cael reached out and tapped the candle with his finger.

A red spark flared, then vanished.

The candle lit instantly.

Another perk of the Remnant Seal—controlled ignition. He didn't even need matches anymore.

The lantern swelled with heat and slowly lifted off, its paper dyed black to dampen visibility.

He'd done that on purpose. The darker skin reduced visibility and minimized the risk of being traced.

Within seconds, the lantern cleared the treeline and caught the wind.

Cael left quickly, pedaling away before anyone could connect him to the scene.

Ten Minutes Later

Liu, the head officer of Patrol Post Six, spotted a dim light drifting into the training yard.

The man stood nearly two meters tall and was built like a tank."What kid's messing around with lanterns at this hour?" he muttered. "Wants to start a fire?"

The candle inside fizzled out. The lantern darkened and descended—landing softly ten meters from him.

Liu walked over and picked it up.

He examined the build. "Pretty well-made," he admitted, twisting it apart.

A folded paper fell out.

Unfolding it under the yard's lamplight, Liu scanned through the images.

His expression shifted.

By the third picture, he had turned deathly serious.

"That's... a Blood-Headed Spider?"

The image depicted a monstrous creature—its torso gaping open, with eight hairy legs extending downward from within. It hung upside down from a ceiling.

Its head was rotated 180 degrees. A terrifying mouth gaped open, overflowing with writhing tendrils.

Beneath it: a floor littered with corpses.

And every corpse had one thing in common—their heads were missing.

They had been carefully stacked, forming a disturbingly neat little pyramid.

That ritualistic cruelty?

It was the signature of one creature alone.

The Blood-Headed Spider.
