Chapter 1 - Many Thoughts

A boy named Beam was born into this cruel, unforgiving world.

He never really had problems with anyone. He didn't start drama. He didn't bother people. He just existed.

But the thing about life is… sometimes it doesn't matter if you never hurt a soul — the world will still find a reason to hurt you.

Some people in this world are good. Some are bad. And some? Some people grow. They change. They learn.

But not all of them.

The ones who don't change? Oh, they're always the loudest.

But not loud in your face.

Loud in whispers.

Loud in stares.

Loud in silence that somehow screams at you louder than words ever could.

And those whispers? The ones that followed Beam wherever he went?

Those weren't just words.

Those were knives disguised as gossip.

The whispers were never loud… but never quiet enough either.

The boy heard them all.

He was smart — maybe a little too smart for his own good. And the older he got… the more those words started to sink deep into his heart. It hurt. It hurt bad.

But what could he do?

He smiled anyway. He laughed anyway. He promised himself — no matter what happens, no matter how people treat me… I'll smile through it.

That fake smile? It became his armor.

Years rolled by.

Now? He's 17. A high schooler.

Life was different now. Better. He had real friends. Friends who actually cared about him. He had a family he loved more than anything — and they loved him right back. His world wasn't perfect, but it was his. And that was enough.

He knew people. Made connections. Built bonds. He wasn't that lonely little boy anymore.

But then… one day at school… everything changed.

He saw her.

A girl.

In his eyes? She was perfect.

Big, soft eyes. A caring heart. A gentle vibe but mature enough to carry herself with grace. Every move she made caught his attention like she was the only person in the world.

To him? She could do no wrong.

And just like that… his mind was stuck on her. Every thought. Every little daydream. Every late night staring at the ceiling… it was her.

But the craziest part?

She didn't even know him yet, the boy wasting his energy, time, and money on this girl who didn't even know his name!

As time went on… they started to get to know each other.

Little by little. Moment by moment.

And every single time they talked… laughed… even if it was just eye contact — the boy remembered it all.

Whenever he was alone… lost in his thoughts… his mind would wander straight to her.

Every conversation they had. Every word he said. Every word she said.

And he'd sit there thinking — "Maybe I should've said this instead…"

"Maybe I shouldn't have said that…"

"Would things be different if I smiled more? Or joked less?"

To him… this wasn't weird. This was normal. Everyone does this. Everyone replays moments in their head, right?

So why wouldn't he?

But every time she was near… every time their eyes met… his heart would race, his words would stumble, his thoughts would trip over themselves.

Meanwhile… she stayed calm.

She smiled like nothing was different. Talked like nothing was out of place. Like she didn't even notice the storm raging inside of him.

And the boy?

He was stuck.

Stuck in a loop of dreams and fake scenarios in his head — scenes that would never play out in real life.

But still… he held on to them.

Because in those moments — in his mind — she was his.

Even if reality told him otherwise.
