Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Little Doctor's Thoughts

"Sir... Could you be an alchemist?" The Little Doctor Fairy's beautiful eyes sparkled with hope as she asked, her voice tinged with anticipation.

Gu He did not answer directly but simply smiled and nodded.

'A real alchemist!' Seeing Gu He's acknowledgment, a look of astonishment spread across the Little Doctor Fairy's delicate face.

Her greatest wish had always been to become an alchemist, but she had never had the opportunity to interact with one. After all, in a small town like Qingshan, it was rare for a distinguished alchemist to visit.

Her eyes brimmed with excitement, and she wanted to step forward to ask more questions, but she hesitated, fearing she might come across as too forward.

Although she had never met a real alchemist, she had heard many stories about them from other mercenaries.

She had heard that alchemists were lofty and proud beings, difficult for ordinary people to approach.

"Perhaps, this Mr. Gu is an exception?" the Little Doctor Fairy thought to herself as she glanced at Gu He.

After all, the gentle smile on Gu He's face and his elegant, handsome demeanor made him seem approachable. Such a person must be different from other alchemists.

The staff of Ten Thousand Medicines House, who had overheard the conversation between Gu He and the Little Doctor Fairy, were also visibly shocked.

'This gentleman is actually an alchemist!' Everyone looked at the elegant and amiable Gu He with a newfound sense of reverence.

In their hearts, the status of an alchemist was exceedingly noble. Moreover, since he had produced a second-tier elixir, this gentleman must be at least a second-tier alchemist.

The thought alone filled them with awe, and they began to regard Gu He with almost divine admiration.

"Big brother! Big brother!"

Suddenly, several frantic shouts echoed from outside Ten Thousand Medicines House, carrying a tone of despair. Moments later, a distressed figure appeared at the entrance—it was Lin Hu, who had left earlier.

Lin Hu's rugged face was now filled with sorrow, his eyes brimming with tears. He rushed to Lin Long, who was lying on the ground, and threw himself down beside him.

"Brother, I'm sorry... I'm useless!" Three hours had passed, and Lin Hu had assumed his elder brother had succumbed to the poison.

The Little Doctor Fairy smiled softly and reassured him, "Your elder brother is fine."

Lin Hu was momentarily stunned. He quickly turned to look at Lin Long's face, which had returned to its normal color, and his eyes widened in surprise.

"The snake venom... it's been cured?" Lin Hu excitedly checked Lin Long's injuries.

After confirming that the venom had indeed been neutralized, he immediately knelt before the Little Doctor Fairy and said gratefully, "Little Doctor, thank you for saving my brother's life. I, Lin Hu, am eternally grateful!"

The bond between Lin Long and Lin Hu ran deep. Orphans since childhood, the two brothers had relied on each other for survival, and their brotherly affection was profound.

To Lin Hu, saving his elder brother's life was akin to saving his own.

Seeing Lin Hu kneel before her, the Little Doctor Fairy was taken aback.

A hint of embarrassment flashed across her pretty face as she quickly explained, "It wasn't me who saved your elder brother. It was this Mr. Gu."

As she spoke, she gestured toward Gu He, who stood nearby.

"Mr. Gu?" Lin Hu turned to Gu He in confusion. This man didn't seem to be from Qingshan Town. Could he really be the one who saved his brother?

Seeing Lin Hu's hesitation, the Little Doctor Fairy feared he might offend Gu He and quickly added, "Mr. Gu is an alchemist. Your elder brother took his pill, which neutralized the Datura snake's venom."

'An alchemist!'  Lin Hu was shocked. This man was actually an alchemist?

Recovering from his initial surprise, Lin Hu promptly knelt before Gu He and said with deep respect, "Thank you, sir, for saving my elder brother's life. Lin Hu is forever in your debt!"

Gu He smiled gently and replied in a calm tone, "It's nothing. Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-level pagoda. Exchanging a second-tier pill for a life is a fair trade."

'Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-level pagoda.' The Little Doctor Fairy carefully pondered Gu He's words, and a glimmer of admiration shone in her beautiful eyes.

It seemed that Mr. Gu was truly a kind-hearted man.

Gu He's arrival had completely overturned her previous perception of alchemists.

"It seems that alchemists aren't as aloof and unapproachable as the legends say," she thought to herself.

Seeing Gu He's elegant and approachable demeanor, a bold idea began to form in her mind.

'Could I ask him to teach me the art of refining pill?'

"A second-tier pill!" Lin Hu was even more astonished upon hearing Gu He's words. As a mercenary, he often dealt with merchants and was well aware of the value of a second-tier pill.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Lin Hu said earnestly, "Sir, your kindness is immeasurable. My brother and I will never forget it. If you ever need anything in the future, we will not hesitate to obey your orders."

A faint look of helplessness crossed Gu He's face. This man had a good heart, but his strength was too low. Otherwise, Gu He might have considered taking him under his wing.

He chuckled lightly and said, "There's no need for that. It's just a second-grade pill. You should take your elder brother back and let him rest properly."

"Yes, sir!" Lin Hu kowtowed three times to Gu He before carrying his elder brother on his back and leaving Ten Thousand Medicines House.

"Mr. Gu, thank you for saving him earlier. Would you care to join me in the back room for some tea?" After Lin Hu left, the Little Doctor Fairy stepped forward, her eyes shining with anticipation.

Gu He had come here specifically for the Little Doctor Fairy, so he naturally did not refuse.

He smiled amiably and nodded. "Of course. I do feel a bit thirsty."

Seeing Gu He agree, the Little Doctor Fairy's eyes lit up with joy. A small smile played on her lips as she respectfully said, "Please follow me, sir."

Gu He nodded and followed her into the back room of Ten Thousand Medicines House.

Once inside, the Little Doctor Fairy quickly prepared a pot of fragrant tea.

"May I ask, what brings you to Qingshan Town? Perhaps I can be of assistance," she ventured boldly, emboldened by Gu He's easy-going nature.

Gu He took a sip of tea and replied with a light smile, "I came to Qingshan Town to relax and explore the Magic Beast Mountain Range in search of some medicinal herbs."

"Then will you be staying in Qingshan Town for a while?" The Little Doctor Fairy's heart leaped with joy. If Gu He wasn't leaving soon, it meant there was an opportunity.

"Yes," Gu He nodded lightly.

"Sir, I'm quite familiar with the outskirts of the Magic Beast Mountain Range. If you're looking for medicinal herbs, I might be able to assist you," the Little Doctor Fairy suggested, her eyes gleaming with enthusiasm.

Gu He had been looking for a way to get closer to her, and her proposal aligned perfectly with his intentions. After pretending to hesitate for a moment, he nodded and said, "Then I'll trouble you for your help."
