Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3-THE GIRL WHO WAS…

Aida

I watch the two depart, and released a sigh of relieve, I wasn't aware that I was holding, and jump in my cruiser and shot out of there without glancing back to see if I was being watched or followed. I played with the idea of going to mister Jingh'an and warn him about his woman. I chuckle at that thought, probably a brain fart moment.

Who is going to listen to a low-level artifact appraiser like me. My knowledge and love of them is the only reason I have a job in this cutthroat city that chomps on you and spits out your bones. I've always wondered how I survive with him deep in the slums, I stared out of the window of my cruiser , down at the endless street maw that goes down into forever. Not long ago I lived in the lowest level, so deep we rarely see sunlight.

I did a sharp turn dodging the flying cruiser that nearly slam into me, my cruiser spins, before I could right it back, I cussed colorfully and rev the cruiser out of there, heading to my apartment. A shiny cruiser pulls up next to me, and the window rolls down to reveal the last person I want to talk to. Blond hair, green eyes, tan skin, a muscled body to die for. If only everything had been true…

"What do you want Luke?" I say acid in my voice.

"Aw come on is that the way to greet an old friend?"

"Friend isn't how I will tag you," I land on my land pad and turn to him.

"You still can't believe me. Hell, for what I did I wouldn't even forgive me." he mutters, running a hand on his dreamy blond hair.

I itch to run a hand through them.

I shake my head and turn to him. He perks up expectantly, I'm not ready to forgive him for what he did to me. And I am not in the right frame of mind to make a decision on him. The knife still cuts too deep.

"I'll see you around Luke." I tell my ex-boyfriend, striding into my apartment and locking the door behind me. he waves to me, his green eyes a little misty, a pinch in my heart makes me want to run into his arms, but I stopped myself, after some minutes he flies his cruiser out of there.

"Good evening Aida, how's work?" A hologram of a boy around fifteen appears before me, light brown eyes staring at me in concern.

For a moment I was transported back into the slums, as we scrounge for food, he'll always give me a most of his, lying that he is okay, or sometimes lie that he isn't hungry. We'd stare at the endless dark ashy cloud of darkness that hangs like a blanket over everything.

"It was okay Yu, I think that I'm going to crash in bed,"

"I detect something's wrong. Did anything happen at work?" Yu takes a step towards me.

"No, "I shake my head, and muster a smile.

Yu takes shakes his head, he watch me with his beautiful, slightly slanted eyes as I make my way upstairs to crash on the bed, not even thinking about food, the last thing I want is food right now. I stared at my skinny frame. I close my eyes and let sleep take me.
