Chapter 19 - Refining the Body with Water and Fire, External Soul Bone

Beneath the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Yu Tianming's body, enveloped in his martial soul, curled up tightly. The massive wings on his back wrapped around him, and the two tails behind him rose and fell gently with his breathing.

The effects of the two immortal herbs—Eight-Petaled Ice Crystal Grass and Fiery Apricot Delicate—were gradually being drawn into Yu Tianming's body under the unique influence of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Unlike Tang San, Yu Tianming's martial soul belonged to the dragon race, and so the dragon aura within the spring water—those tiny points of starlight—were also attracted to him, merging with the herbs' medicinal power as they entered his body.

Countless years ago, after the Water and Fire Dragon Kings fell in battle, their bodies crashed into this mountain in the Sunset Forest like meteors, blasting open a massive ring-shaped crater at the summit. Their remains now lay ten thousand meters below the well.

As time passed and eras changed, the lingering aura of the two dragon kings gradually nurtured this treasure trove known as the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Although the surface of the spring water no longer carried the dragon aura, deep within, the bloodline of dragons still remained.

Under the effects of the well, Yu Tianming absorbed the medicinal powers of the herbs while also taking in the dragon aura at an accelerating pace. Around him, countless red and blue points of starlight gradually formed a dazzling vortex, converging toward his body.

Yu Tianming had entered the pool before dawn, yet even after sunset, he had not reappeared.

Yu Yuanzhen, worried by the delay, began pacing back and forth anxiously at a distance from the well.

As time dragged on, his heart began to sink, and the way he looked at Dugu Bo grew increasingly hostile.

Yu Yuanzhen had always been headstrong and proud. Now, with his grandson's fate uncertain while Dugu Bo was perfectly fine, the thought of burying Dugu Bo alongside his grandson began to arise in his heart.

Sitting quietly nearby, Dugu Bo could feel the murderous intent and began to sweat profusely, unable to remain calm. Under Yu Yuanzhen's piercing gaze, he could only force himself to appear composed, shutting his eyes and pretending to meditate.

Right now, no one wanted Yu Tianming to be safe more than Dugu Bo.

As day turned to night and back to day, the morning sun once again shone on the surface of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

By now, most of the medicinal power from the herbs had been absorbed into Yu Tianming's body. The remaining effects had settled into his meridians and bones, difficult to utilize in the short term and would require slow absorption through future cultivation.

The light points infused with dragon aura also seemed to have reached a saturation point, no longer flowing toward him.

Most of those light points had gathered on his wings, fusing into the bones of his wings and giving off a faint golden glow in the water. Within that glow, an almost imperceptible divine aura silently lingered.

Gradually, Yu Tianming regained consciousness. He could feel a new soul bone had formed on his wings, attached to his scapula. Though he didn't know where it came from, he guessed it likely had something to do with the Water and Fire Dragon Kings deep beneath the well.

However, he didn't plan to make this new soul bone public, nor did he intend to dive deeper in search of the dragons' remains.

First, because the depth—ten thousand meters—meant he couldn't withstand the water pressure.

Second, the dragon race had enmities with many gods in the heavens, and he didn't want to attract unwanted attention.

Most of the medicinal power from the two poisonous immortal herbs had now been absorbed. Though his soul power hadn't increased, his physical strength had improved tremendously, and he had gained immunity to both ice and fire.

Now, the white cold spring felt like cool water, while the red hot spring was no more than warm water to him. Soaking in either not only didn't harm him—it felt wonderful.

After understanding his current state, Yu Tianming slowly floated to the surface.

His clothing had long since disintegrated under the effects of the spring water. But with only Dugu Bo and Yu Yuanzhen—both men—present, modesty was unnecessary.

At nine years old, Yu Tianming already stood 1.75 meters tall. With red lips, white teeth, black hair, and dark eyes, his facial features had subtly shifted under the spring's baptism, making his already handsome face radiate a more harmonious and natural beauty.

Climbing ashore, the red and white spring water on his body slid off his sculpted muscles like drops of mercury, forming patches of white frost and scorched earth wherever they landed.

In the distance, Dugu Bo—who had spent the night in fear—let out a long sigh of relief at the sight of him safe and sound.

Yu Yuanzhen immediately flashed to his side and asked with concern, "Tianming, are you feeling any discomfort?"

Yu Tianming picked up his ring from the shore, began putting on clothes, and replied, "Don't worry, Grandpa. I feel better than ever."

As he spoke, he summoned his martial soul. Unlike Tang San, who developed flashy changes in appearance after consuming the immortal herbs, Yu Tianming's form remained the same—just more streamlined and aesthetically refined.

As a Titled Douluo with a dragon-type martial soul, Yu Yuanzhen was extremely perceptive and immediately noticed the change, asking directly, "Your dragon bloodline… has it become more pure?"

Hearing that, Yu Tianming suddenly realized that the change in his martial soul had affected his appearance—just like how Tang San's Blue Silver Grass evolved into the Blue Silver Emperor, turning him from a nobody into an ethereal beauty.

He replied, "Not only is my bloodline more pure, but after the baptism of the spring, I've gained ice and fire immunity, and my physical body has been significantly enhanced. Grandpa, you can test it."

Yu Yuanzhen placed a hand on his shoulder and released a bit of soul power. He immediately sensed the tough fascia and dense muscle.

Though only at the 23rd rank, Yu Tianming's physical strength had already surpassed many Soul Elders at rank 40 and above.

After pondering for a moment, Yu Yuanzhen smiled and said, "With your current physique, you can handle a soul beast over four thousand years old for your third ring."

According to Yu Xiaogang's theory, 4500 years was the upper limit for a third soul ring.

"We should return to the clan first to figure out how to use these herbs. After that, I'll consider hunting for the third ring," Yu Tianming reminded.

Yu Yuanzhen, eager to consult the immortal herb manual, turned to Dugu Bo and said, "Let's head back to Heaven Dou City to find your granddaughter."

After some thought, he added to Yu Tianming, "I'll bring Dugu Bo with us. No need to waste time—we'll fly straight to Heaven Dou."

Since Dugu Bo hadn't reached the Titled Douluo level and couldn't fly, Yu Yuanzhen simply grabbed him under the arm and soared into the sky.

Next to the towering Yu Yuanzhen, who was as tall as Yao Ming, the future Poison Douluo looked like a teenager.

In Douluo Continent, one's martial soul greatly influenced their physique.

Dugu Bo, with the Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor soul, was tall and thin like a javelin—just over 1.9 meters, but extremely lean.

Yu Yuanzhen, with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon soul, stood over two meters tall, with a burly, powerful build. But his son, Yu Xiaogang, inherited the weak Luo Sanpao martial soul and barely reached 1.7 meters in height.

The Elephant Armored Clan, with their Mammoth martial souls, had average heights close to three meters.
