Chapter 1 - Exploration 1

Ether, our protagonist, is in the town square of one of the richest regions of The Fifth Realm.

The name of the region is unique, where its name is not given a feminisation of its founder like on Earth, such as how Terras Austrlias was renamed to Australia, or The New World referred to as America.

If you didn't notice, adding an "a" at the end of a name feminises it for historical reasons within the English language, and although within the 'world' (if that's what you'll call it) The Fifth Realm has a common language that is different from the English language, it has the same rule of feminising counties and regions typically, but again, that does not apply with the most wealthy of the bunch, where Ether finds himself situated.

This region goes by the name of "Divinus" when translated to English, although its meaning is assumed to be what it implies, divinity, its not an easy thing to grasp the whole truth of what it intends to represent.

In the beginning of the civilisation within The Fifty Realm, unlike Earth, tribes during the early kingdoms did not identify with their family name, but instead what they are when left without a name.

This is the concept that persisted in naming conventions, for whenever anything is given a name to associate something in my with, the hidden message of perceiving that thing without the name is in itself added to the name.

As a consequence, race as an "ism" was impossible to develop, and so was a materialistically attached to national identity.

Although there is a nation, the tendency to latch onto symbols as a substitute for the essence or spirit for what allows for belonging and unity is not needed, and so no matter how accurate a word, name, or symbol may capture the concept of such an essence, that word, name, and/or symbol itself must be acknowledged to not be that very essence itself, and that is why the naming is as such for the kingdoms that exist in The Fifth Realm today, so that way the acknowledgement is noticed by the individual sooner than later by association.

Divinus, being the richest Region of The Fifth Realm, is named without a feminisation due to the subtle essence that needs to be addressed within the language, for it is of a masculine tone instead, the nation is given sovereign authority that unifies its many types of peoples through being a physical space of universally shared sense of significance, rather than alienating the land as in the case of Australia and America back on Earth having a history of collonialism influencing its naming.

As stated before, feminisation of county and region names is common within The Fifth Realm also, however Divinus is the exception due to its name literally meaning "The Land of Light".

As what light does, it makes things be seen, but as for what is to be seen and in what ways can it be seen, the kingdom/region of Divinus is filled with a lot of history.

The reason why it is referred to as a region instead of a country, is because the region of Divinus has been split in two in recent times, reasons of which have been forgotten its meaning even to those who are old enough to remember the events that caused it.

It was a pretty meaningless split of the region into two separate countries, now simply called "North Divinus" and "South Divinus", but in truth the people were simply never told as to why the authorities who ruled over the land made the decision. Everyone suspects internal strife, but thankfully it wasn't bad enough to give the new authorities any sense of urgency to correct things that are broken.

Life is good in the region of Divinus, and people are just used to it now being split into two different countries, for their division has been perceived as a persisting unity within its loving culture.
