Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Ten Thousand Years Soul Ring Shocks Tang San and Yu Xiaogang

Zhang Fan's compliment was obviously sarcastic—he thought the way Blue Silver Chicken entangled looked hilarious.

"Why do I feel like you're laughing at me!" Tang San said angrily.

"I just remembered something happy!"

Zhang Fan replied with a serious expression—then burst into laughter.

"What's so funny?" Tang San glared at him furiously.

"Xiao Wu said she's going to have monkeys with me! Isn't that something to be happy about?" Zhang Fan smirked.

"You're going too far! I've tolerated you long enough!"

Tang San felt this guy was absolutely mocking his Blue Silver Chicken entanglement.

"You think I won't snap?"

"I believe you… Go ahead and snap! Blue Silver Chicken Entangle?"

Zhang Fan laughed so hard he clutched his stomach.

"Hahaha..."

"Argh!" Tang San snapped. With a wave of his hand, Blue Silver Chicken—

"Cluck cluck..." shot toward Zhang Fan, wrapping him up instantly.

"Ah... dah..."

Tang San roared in rage, throwing a flying kick at Zhang Fan.

"Bang!" But he missed completely and kicked straight through the wall of the carriage, getting his leg stuck.

Zhang Fan suddenly appeared behind him, soul power surging in his hand.

The Blue Silver Chicken was instantly shaken off, returning to its original form and grabbed by Zhang Fan.

"Bang!" He slammed it on the ground.

"Bang bang!" He stomped on it a few times.

"Cluck cluck cluck—" The Blue Silver Chicken screamed like a squeaky toy.

"Argh—" Tang San was going crazy.

"Come out, Clear Sky Dog! Bite him!"

With a loud shout, Tang San's left hand flashed black, summoning a black dog with faint patterns on its head.

He had had enough of Zhang Fan—today he would finally get payback.

"Woof woof—" The Clear Sky Dog grew larger and lunged at Zhang Fan.

"Bang!" Zhang Fan threw a punch, sending the dog flying back—right into Tang San, who had just pulled his leg out of the carriage wall.

"Argh!" Tang San screamed again.

Zhang Fan reached out swiftly and grabbed both the Clear Sky Dog and Blue Silver Chicken.

He used the chicken to tie up the dog.

The two spirit beasts shrieked madly.

"Woof woof—"

"Cluck cluck—"

Tang San was losing his mind.

"Quiet now?" Zhang Fan sneered.

"Whoosh whoosh—"

Tang San hurled several Bone-Piercing Nails at Zhang Fan.

"Whoosh whoosh—"

But Zhang Fan blocked them all with his two spirit beasts.

"Ugh..."

Tang San was speechless. Seeing both his spirits hit by the nails made his heart ache.

He quickly withdrew both martial spirits with a thought.

They turned into blue and black light and flew back into his body.

Thankfully, the Bone-Piercing Nails hadn't been poisoned—otherwise, the poisoned ones would've been his own spirits.

He said helplessly:

"I admit defeat! Okay?"

"So weak, just be quiet already!"

Zhang Fan suddenly slapped him twice:

"Smack smack—"

Tang San's face, which had nearly recovered, swelled up again.

"Woo woo—" Tang San whimpered.

Now with two fresh palm-shaped swellings on his face, he finally quieted down.

He pulled his leg from the wall and obediently sat down.

Yu Xiaogang watched the two kids fight and realized Tang San was no match for Zhang Fan at all.

Zhang Fan really surprised him—seeing it in person was entirely different from hearing about it.

Although Zhang Fan only had one martial spirit, his power completely overwhelmed Tang San.

"Zhang Fan, summon your martial spirit. Let me see it!"

Yu Xiaogang said weakly.

"You're not my teacher. Why should I show you?"

Zhang Fan rolled his eyes at him.

"Summon it now! Godmother said summon, so you summon!"

Tang San glared furiously:

"If you dare disrespect my godmother, I swear we're mortal enemies!"

"Why are you barking like a little puppy?"

Zhang Fan shot Tang San a glance, then activated his martial spirit. Purple light shimmered on his left hand, and the Tian Shang Sword appeared—a rusty, broken sword with no edge at all.

"That thing's so busted..."

Tang San had never seen such a dull, cracked piece of junk, yet its owner was so monstrous, able to crush him easily.

He couldn't help but feel bitter.

He was clearly so talented—how did he lose to this guy?

Was it just like his teacher said? There are no useless martial spirits, only useless spirit masters?

"Is your spirit ring at the hundred-year level? Or only ten years?" Yu Xiaogang asked curiously.

"Not much, really." Zhang Fan shrugged, clearly unwilling to summon it.

"Just summon it!" Tang San grinned slyly. He was stronger in everything yet still lost to Zhang Fan—surely he could finally mock him for having a weak white or yellow ring?

"What's in it for me? I'm not interested unless..." Zhang Fan smirked as he gazed out the carriage window. "Call me 'Grandmaster,' and I'll summon it immediately."

"..." Tang San was speechless.

"Just say it. It's nothing!" Yu Xiaogang's androgynous voice rang out.

"Grandmaster!" Tang San gritted his teeth.

He wanted to see just what kind of ring Zhang Fan had. He was ready to mock him hard.

"Good disciple!"

Zhang Fan now had a way to avoid danger, so he didn't mind revealing a bit.

He activated his martial spirit.

Black light erupted from beneath his feet.

A black soul ring rose and spun at his feet.

It radiated a terrifying pressure.

"Ten... ten-thousand-year soul ring!"

Yu Xiaogang was shocked, his eyes wide in disbelief.

He'd just been preaching about how soul masters couldn't attach rings over 430 years—now Zhang Fan brought out a ten-thousand-year ring and slapped him right in the face.

"Impossible! How could you... hunt a ten-thousand-year beast on your own?"

Tang San also couldn't believe it. His expression mirrored Yu Xiaogang's.

"That's right... The Soul Hunting Forest doesn't even have ten-thousand-year beasts, maybe just thousand-year ones."

Yu Xiaogang was stunned and confused.

"Where did you get that ten-thousand-year soul ring?"

"Why so many questions? You're lucky I even let you see it. Now shut up and move along!"

Zhang Fan gave them a look. These two must be brain-damaged. Why would he tell them?

"You're violating the hierarchy here."

"..." Tang San and Yu Xiaogang were speechless.

Tang San realized that Zhang Fan's overwhelming strength must be due to that freakish ten-thousand-year ring. This bastard was hiding something serious.

There was definitely something fishy going on with him.

Even Tang Hao, watching from the shadows, frowned and was deeply shocked.

Where did this kid get that soul ring? His martial spirit was trash, yet the ring was so strong. It made no sense.

At Tang Hao's level, attaching a ten-thousand-year ring would explode him into a cloud of blood.

Could it be soul beast sacrifice?

But… he'd never heard of ten-thousand-year beasts having that kind of intelligence—or seen one capable of sacrifice.

He couldn't figure it out.

Soon, they arrived at Nuoding Academy.

They got off the carriage. Tang San helped Yu Xiaogang back to his quarters.

Zhang Fan, on the other hand, walked straight into the forest behind the school instead of going to Dorm Seven.

After all, Xiao Wu, Wang Sheng, and the other working students had probably clashed with that sixth-year boss.

"Those working students must have a death wish, daring to mess with Sixth Year's Big Brother Xiao."

"That first-year girl is kinda strong, but Big Brother Xiao's stronger. He even made a bet—if she loses, she becomes his pet."
