Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- Peter

"Wake up kiddo, the breakfast is getting cold." A soft voice echoed in the room. The voice was warm and filled with love.

Peter grabbed his blanket and covered his face. He then said, " Just a minute,Uncle Ben. I spent too much time on chemistry last night."

Uncle Ben looked over to Peter's table and saw books scattered across. He didn't doubt Peter but the time was getting closer.

Uncle Ben grabbed the blanket and forcefully took it away from Peter. " I will take this."

Peter winced at the light and got up from the bed. His hair was a mess and his eyes were half open, half close. He yawned. He looked at Uncle Ben and saw a blurred figure.

He then searched for his glasses on the small table beside.

" Careful, you will knock out the glass." Uncle Ben remarked.

" I am not that blind."

" Even with your glasses, I have seen you knock stuff. You always have the gift of messing things up."

Peter wore the glasses and smirked at Uncle Ben, " That means I will be a famous scientist."

" Why? Aren't scientists supposed to be precise with their work?"

" Kinda, but we learn more from mistakes."

Uncle Ben stared briefly at Peter and chuckled. " That is a great excuse. I bet your aunt will like to hear."

Peter nodded. He then sniffed at the air and glanced at Uncle Ben. " She makes wheat cakes. I am getting hungry thinking about it. Can't wait to eat."

Peter immediately got down from the bed and quickly dashed toward the bedroom.

" No running in the house." Uncle Ben sighed.

He looked down at the blanket and neatly folded it, before placing it on the bed.

Peter walked down the stairs and greeted Aunt May, who was busy making tea for Uncle Ben. He put down his bags in the living room and entered the kitchen. Immediately, the smell of sweet cake assaulted his nose.

He sat on the chair and waited for Aunt May.

" Here, I cooked your favorite breakfast, Petey."

Peter smiled with excitement.

" Don't fatten him too much, dear. I can't lose my position as the strong man in this house." Uncle Ben laughed. He continued reading the newspaper.

Peter finished the breakfast in under a minute. He was the type to enjoy something he liked slowly but he got no time to spare.

I should listen to Uncle Ben and wake up early. But if I don't study my research, I won't get my scholarship.

Peter sighed inside his heart.

" Don't forget to take your lunch." Aunt May shouted at Peter.

Peter stopped his steps and turned around. He saw Aunt May with a lunch pack.

" Here."

" Thanks, I almost forgot about this." Peter scratched his head. He shoved the lunch pack into his bags.

Aunt May kissed his forehead and said, " Be careful."

" Don't wander around too much, Pete. There are so many strange things in this world." Uncle Ben warned from the kitchen.

" I will." Peter said and opened the front door.

Before leaving the house, he took his skateboard from the garage. He was thinking about taking the bike but he hesitated after thinking about losers from the school.

Skateboard was much easier to hide than the bike.

Peter skillfully guided the skate on the side of the road. The school was not far away from his house. It would take him about 10 minutes.

He thought of today's plan. Studying. Working in the lab ( helping his science teacher's mess.) Returning the books he borrowed from the library.

I wish I could go to the party like others.

Peter sighed. It had been a while since he conversed with someone in the school. As he was daydreaming about the things he would do when he reached his goal, he saw the school.

He grabbed the skateboard and hid it on the tree.

There. Only a freak would play on this tree.

Peter entered the school. He noticed the lack of people in the hallway and quickly went to the locker. He placed his bag and grabbed the notebook.

I will take my sketch book as well. Learning English is boring. It is worse since Mrs Elre's voice is too soft.

Peter went to his classroom. He was not late as he and Mrs Elre bumped into each other at the door.

" You are late, Peter."

" You look wonderful today, Miss Elre."

" Flirting with a teacher will result in a counselor's room."

Peter forced a smile, " It is just an innocent compliment."

Miss Elre squinted her eyes and spoke. " Go sit in your seat. The lecture will start now."

Peter nodded at her and went to his seat.

Look like the book lied. I can't charm my way into people.

His seat was located at the farthest away from the teacher. As a half blinded teenager it was a cruel joke from the school from the school.

Flash slided across his foot and tried to knock down Peter.

Peter jumped up and dodged Flash. He glanced at Flash and whispered, " Seriously? It is too outdated, Flash. You need to try harder than that."

Flash frowned. " You won't be happy when the class ends."

Peter rolled his eyes and controlled himself from speaking any words.

He sat on the seat and opened the textbook.

The lecture began and Peter's mind wandered off into the amazing world of science. He opened the sketch book and started working on his ideas.

A chemical bond that will replace ropes. A mask that will help against the harsh environment. Many more. To help out people.

The lecture ended. As soon as the teacher left, voices exploded. Some were chatting about the new game they played last night. Others were planning for trips after school ended.

Couples were planning for their date.

The loudest voice was Flash's group. They seemed to be preparing for the party. Some joined. Some were invited.

In this lively room, there was a quiet voice unheard by others. The voice yearned for friends. It wanted to fit in but it didn't know how.

It belonged to Peter.

Flash noticed Peter and remembered previous interaction. He stood up, pushed away his girlfriend to the side and walked toward Peter. He slammed his hands onto the desk. He smirked.

Peter looked up and glanced at Flash. Behind his thick glasses was unweaving stubbornness.

" What do you want, Flash? I am busy." Peter asked.

Flash laughed and forcefully took Peter's sketch book. He threw the book at one of his friends. " Catch."

" Come on." Peter dashed toward his sketch book.

As much as he wanted to punch at Flash, he didn't give into his desire. First, because the trouble he got from that was not worth it. Second, Flash was much bigger than him.

He didn't know what his parents fed him but that man was huge. 6 feet tall, and built with muscles.

After tossing back and forth, they gave the book back to Peter. For them this was their daily routine.

Flash chuckled and slammed Peter's shoulder.

" Ouch!" Peter rubbed his shoulder.

Fucker.

The time is up.

I need to go to the lab room.
