Chapter 4 - 3.Muffin mayhem & the fake date that wasn't

Isaac had one rule when it came to mornings: do not involve me in anything remotely dramatic before 10 a.m.

Naturally, at 9:43 a.m., he was already breaking it—because Noah had texted him in all caps saying:

"IT'S AN EMERGENCY. WEAR SOMETHING CUTE. MEET ME AT MARIGOLD. DON'T ASK. JUST TRUST ME."

Isaac groaned, rolling out of bed with a dramatic sigh like the world's most reluctant protagonist. "Why do I even have friends," he muttered as he threw on a hoodie, ran a comb through his hair, and sprinted out the door.

When he arrived at Café Marigold, slightly out of breath and 100% undercaffeinated, he spotted Noah seated at their usual table—with two extra lattes and a giant muffin tower.

Isaac blinked. "What... is happening?"

Noah grinned, far too proud of himself. "You're welcome. I just saved your social life."

Isaac narrowed his eyes. "What did you do?"

Before Noah could answer, the bell over the door chimed—and in walked Micah.

Isaac immediately panicked.

Micah spotted them, offered a warm smile, and made his way over. "Hey. Didn't know this was a group thing."

"Oh, it's not," Noah said smoothly. "It's a date."

Isaac choked on air.

Micah froze mid-step. "I'm sorry... a what now?"

Noah sipped his coffee like this wasn't nuclear-level sabotage. "Isaac was too shy to ask you out, so I did it for him. You're welcome."

"WHAT?!" Isaac shouted, nearly knocking over a latte. "No, no, no—this is not a date! This is—you tricked me!"

Micah looked between them, then burst out laughing. "Okay, this might be the most chaotic 'non-date' I've ever been invited to."

Noah beamed. "Chaos is how we show love."

Isaac buried his face in his hands, groaning. "I am never speaking to either of you again."

"No you're not," Noah said, nudging a latte toward him. "You're gonna sit there, drink your emotional support coffee, and enjoy this muffin tower I got just for you and your fake boyfriend."

Micah raised a brow. "Fake boyfriend, huh?"

Isaac let out a long, defeated sigh. "Please stop saying things."

Micah slid into the seat next to him, clearly enjoying this far too much. "Hey, I'm not complaining. Free muffins, quality banter, and I get to see you blushing again? Kinda the best part of my week."

Isaac went still. "You... think I'm blushing?"

Micah smirked. "You're definitely blushing."

Noah clapped his hands. "Wow. Would you look at that? The chemistry is cheffing. This is better than any drama I've streamed lately."

Isaac turned to him with a deadly glare. "I swear, one day I'm going to write a character based on you and kill him off immediately."

Noah grinned. "Make him charming at least."

As the three of them sipped coffee and slowly demolished the mountain of muffins, the tension turned lighter—comfortable, even. Isaac still wanted to disappear into the floor every few seconds, but Micah didn't seem fazed. In fact, he looked more relaxed around Isaac now.

Eventually, Micah leaned in a little, just enough to make Isaac's heart stop. "So... if this were a real date, would that be the worst thing?"

Isaac blinked.

Noah paused mid-bite.

Isaac cleared his throat. "I—uh—I mean... hypothetically? No. Maybe not the worst."

Micah smiled, taking a sip of his coffee. "Cool. Hypothetically noted."

And just like that, Isaac was blushing again, Noah was silently cheering with his muffin, and Adrian—watching from behind the counter—shook his head and muttered, "I need to start charging extra for this level of emotional drama."

What do you think?

There will be a switch of behavior coming up soon !!
