Axel
I sank into the plush club seat, swirling the drink in my hand, still processing what had just happened. Selene's cold indifference lingered in my mind, and I hated it.
Jack plopped down beside me, raising an eyebrow. "What's with the long face? You look upset."
I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair. "You know my mother arranged a female bodyguard for me?"
Jack's lips curled into a smirk. "Yeah, so?"
I scoffed, leaning back. "She didn't even look at me the way most girls do."
Jack burst out laughing, shaking his head. "So, the heartthrob of the country is craving attention from a 'normal' girl now?"
I glared at him, but he only laughed harder, raising his glass in amusement. "Man, this is the first time I've seen a girl completely ignore you. Must be driving you crazy."
I didn't respond. Because maybe, just maybe—he was right.
Taking a sip of my drink, I finally muttered, "She just saved me from a crazy fan."
Jack's smirk faltered slightly. "Wait, what?"
I nodded, my jaw tightening. "You know I can fight. But when it comes to fans, I always hesitate. I don't want to cause a scandal or hurt someone who just got carried away."
Jack leaned in, suddenly serious. "And?"
I let out a breath. "That girl pulled a gun on me."
His eyes widened, but before he could react, I continued. "Selene took her down in seconds. No hesitation, no wasted movement. Just took her out like she's done it a thousand times before."
Jack let out a low whistle. "Damn."
I ran a hand over my face. "And after that? She didn't even look at me. Just handed the girl over to the cops and vanished."
Jack chuckled, shaking his head. "Looks like you got yourself a real bodyguard, man. And she doesn't give a damn about your charm."
I scowled. That was the problem.
I set my drink down and leaned forward, lowering my voice. "But you know what's even weirder?"
Jack raised an eyebrow. "What?"
I sighed, rubbing my temple. "She's staying in my apartment."
Jack blinked. "Wait—what?"
I nodded. "She's been living there, probably watching my every move. But here's the thing—when I'm at my apartment, I don't even see her. Not once."
Jack let out a low laugh. "So, she's like a ghost?"
I leaned back with a frustrated sigh. "Exactly. She's there, but she's not. She's just… watching."
Jack smirked. "Damn, man. You've finally met a woman who doesn't throw herself at you."
I shot him a glare. "Shut up."
But the truth was—it bothered me more than I wanted to admit.
Jack leaned back, swirling his drink. "You have a fiancée, man. Why the hell are you thinking about her?"
I stiffened at his words.
Right.
Cassandra.
My wedding was scheduled for six months after my busy work commitments. This was just temporary.
So why the hell was I wasting my thoughts on a woman who was only here to do her job?
But I wasn't married yet.
A slow smirk spread across my lips as an idea formed in my mind. **I could make her want me.**
Selene Voss—so indifferent, so unaffected. Unlike every other woman, she didn't fall for my charm. She didn't even acknowledge my presence unless necessary.
But I would change that.
"I'll taste her and leave her," I muttered, my grip tightening around the glass. "She will beg for my attention, and I'll make sure of that."
Jack raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Damn, that's cold. You sure she's the type to break?"
I let out a low chuckle, confidence surging through me. **"Every woman has a breaking point, Jack. And I will make sure of that."**
I smirked, running a hand through my hair. I know she's watching me.
There must be a security camera in the hall—which means she knows exactly what I'm doing when I'm there.
That gave me an idea.
If she could see me in the hall but not in my room, then… I'd make sure to spend more time there.
I leaned against the wall casually, stretching my arms, moving with ease—letting her watch.
If Selene wanted to ignore me, she'd have to work harder. Because from now on, I'd make sure she had no choice but to pay attention.
