Synopsis
She felt his tongue glide over her shoulder, his breath warm as his lips pressed against her bare skin. His left hand pinned both of hers above her head, firm and unyielding. He didn’t rush his mouth moved slowly, trailing down to her collarbone, then between the curve of her chest. “Lucas…” she breathed, a soft moan slipping past her lips. But he neither stopped nor opened his eyes. “I warned you, didn’t I?” His voice was low, edged with dark amusement. “But my dear Vie had to know. So now…” He leaned closer, his mouth brushing her skin again. “I’ll show you what it means to wake me.” When Evie accepts an invitation to the Lord of Havethrone’s masquerade ball, she doesn’t expect much certainly not to find herself drawn into a world of shadowed halls, whispered legends, and a masked man whose gaze seems to unravel her. Lucas Thorne is charming, powerful, and dangerously inhuman. No one sees the Lord of Havethrone and returns unchanged.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Angry lady

" No Papa." An enraged feminine voice exclaimed her face burning red in anger."I'm Never going back there to be humiliated by him.". She said her voice laced with deep hatred for whom so ever had wronged her. "Father, than man has absolutely no respect for my image when he chose a Mere servant over me, a less significant servant."

The old man who sat across from the lady jad a sad expression on his face,he felt deeply sorry for not just his daughter but himself, when it came to the vile idiot who had wronged his daughter,he was particularly a nobody, that person was someone even the whole empire feared more than the king ,if it were another person,he would have served their head to his daughter ,seeing the situation wasn't good ,he tried to please his young foolish daughter. "Lily, dear , you shouldn't be mad at such trivial things, he must be playing one of his games , remember among all those Elites Ladies, you were his favorite, he had been openly affectionate with you, he must not have been in a good mood earlier." The girl Father said trying to soothe her anger, but the young lady felt more furious with her father words.

"I have made up my mind father, I'm no longer going to see him ever again, he has caused me enough harms. " The young lady said taking deep breaths as to calm down. She took the envelope that lay on her sit next to her, and threw it out through the window, with a satisfied smile. "I'm not attending the party."she declared, her voice sounding firm.

The old didn't believe her words , but he was atleats happy that his daughter was calm again. He nodded slowly, trying to understand her perspective. "Very well, Lily. If that's what you want, I won't push you to attend the party." He paused, studying her expression. "But are you sure you're not just reacting out of anger? Sometimes, it's better to face our problems head-on rather than running away from them."

Lily's face still burned with anger, but she looked at her father with a hint of determination. "I've made up my mind, Father. I won't be swayed by his empty words or gestures. I'm done being humiliated by him."

The old man sighed, knowing that his daughter's mind was made up. He could only hope that time would heal her wounds and that she would eventually see things from a different perspective. He nodded slowly, resigned to her decision. "As you wish, Lily. I'll support you no matter what."

As the carriage drove away, a figure stood in the middle of the road that the carriage had passed through, it was wearing a long black Coat that covered his whole, even his face was hidden in the coat, he stared at the carriage thst went farther away ,before bending down ,his long bony fingers reached out picking the Discarded Invitation card , after which he vanished into thin air , as tho he was never there.

 ....

The sun was setting over the small village, casting a warm orange glow over the thatched roofs and the bustling market square. Evie, a young girl with a wild mane of curly brown hair, walked through the crowd with a basket slung over her arm.

"Thanks, Mr. Gerald," Evie said, handing over a silver coin for the fresh vegetables. Mr. Gerald, the friendly merchant, caught the coin with a smile.

"Come back soon, Evie," he said. "Your grandma loves my tomatoes."

Evie grinned and arranged the tomatoes in her basket. "I'll be back, Mr. Gerald. She's always asking for more."

Mr. Gerald chuckled and said, "My shop is always open to you, Evie."

As Evie walked away, Mr. Gerald called out, "See you tomorrow, milady." Evie smiled and continued on her way, almost hurriedly.

As Evie hurried through the village, her love for books was no secret to the villagers. In fact, she was one of the few educated young girls in their small community. The villagers couldn't help but chuckle as they watched her hurry by, knowing that she was rushing to catch the library before it closed at 6 pm.

"There goes Evie, off to get her daily dose of books," one of the villagers said with a smile.

"She's always been a bookworm," another villager added, shaking her head in amusement.

Evie's love for reading was well-known, and the villagers often teased her about it. But Evie didn't mind. She was too busy getting lost in the world of words and stories to worry about what others thought.

As she walked, the village scenery blurred together, and Evie's mind began to wander to the books she had read and the ones she still wanted to read. She quickened her pace, her heart racing with excitement at the prospect of getting to the library before it closed.

Luckily for Evie when she got to the library it was still open, As she pushed open the door, Evie's eyes scanned the familiar rows of bookshelves, her heart skipping a beat with excitement. But her gaze was quickly drawn to the circulation desk, where a young man with a friendly smile was sitting in place of the usual librarian, Mrs. Hubry.

Evie's curiosity was piqued, and she walked over to the desk to inquire about the change. "Excuse me," she said, "I'm looking for Mrs. Hubry. Is she... um... unavailable?"

The young librarian looked up from the book he was reading and smiled apologetically. "I'm afraid I don't know much about Mrs. Hubry's situation," he said. "I only started working here three days ago. But I'm happy to help you find whatever you need."

Evie nodded, feeling a bit puzzled. "Okay, thank you," she said. "I'll just... um... look around, then."

The librarian nodded and returned to his book, his eyes scanning the pages with interest. Evie wandered off, her eyes scanning the shelves for a title that caught her eye.

After browsing for a while, Evie found nothing new that caught her eye. She had read almost all the books in the mini library and decided to ask the librarian if there were any new books delivered.

"Excuse me," she said, walking back to the circulation desk, "are there any new books that have been delivered recently?"

The young librarian looked up from his book and nodded. "Let me check," he said, getting up from his seat and disappearing into the storage room.

As Evie waited, she decided to keep browsing the library for the joy of it untill the librarian returned.

As Evie wandered to the end of the shelf, the dim lighting seemed to swallow her whole. The air grew thick with the scent of old books and dust. She ran her fingers over the spines of the books, feeling the raised letters and embossed covers. Still, nothing caught her eye.

As she turned to head back to the circulation desk, a sudden chill ran down her spine. A figure stood before her, shrouded in darkness. His long black coat seemed to absorb the light around him, making him almost invisible. His head was bowed, hiding his face from view.

Evie's heart skipped a beat as she froze, unsure of what to do. But before she could even breathe, the figure vanished into thin air, leaving her Wondering if it was her imagination.
