Chapter 7 - 6. Meeting the Great Red

This week, the Tokyo police department looked more like a disturbed hornet's nest than a bastion of peace and order. The culprit was the brutal murders of a group suspected of extortion.

The police were investigating a yakuza family that, under the guise of a real estate company, was getting their hands on expensive apartments and reselling them. The owners of the former properties mysteriously got into accidents or committed crimes for which they were sent to prison.

In the middle of the week, when investigators were planning to get the final clues in this case, everything went downhill. A surprise inspection of their office in order to get black accounting failed at the very beginning. As soon as the police squad burst into the premises, the persistent smell of blood hit their noses. The professionals in their field could not stand the horrific picture in front of them and emptied their stomachs.

All the known members of the gang were inside the room, but it was not immediately possible to find out, because the office resembled a branch of hell. All the walls and even the ceiling in some places were covered in blood. The floor and furniture were strewn with severed limbs and entrails of the bandits. Only after examination were they able to establish the identity of the eighteen victims.

Not only the police were looking for those responsible for what happened, but also five clans of defenders joined in. They believed that the killer was someone from the supernatural world, but they also reached a dead end in their investigation. None of them could guess that the reason for the reprisal against people was their greed and stupidity. Having learned about a large deal, the criminals decided to find out more about the identity of the buyer. As it turned out, Silence Ouroboros did not have any documents in his name, having paid extra so that the seller company would solve this problem on its own.

The bandits were delighted. In their opinion, such a large catch was a gift from Heaven. Having set up surveillance on a new target, they quickly learned about the couple's daily routine. It was easy for one of the criminals to break into the apartment while they were away. Having examined the apartment, the spy was in awe. The entire apartment was completely filled with gold bars. He even took one for exact confirmation.

Having learned about such wealth, they were completely consumed by greed. The bandits did not even think about the capabilities and connections of these people. Tons of gold and a lot of cash lying in the neighboring apartment outweighed common sense. The boss sent two subordinates to bring the couple up to date and invite them to the office for further explanation of their situation. However, something went wrong. Their target appeared in the office from a drawing that appeared. In a stupor, the leader did not immediately notice the angry expression on the young man's face, but instead looked at the girl. The words of his subordinate and the photographs he took could not fully convey the beauty of Ouroboros, but this was the last straw for the enraged dragon.

Silence could no longer control himself. First, someone breaks into their house and steals their treasures. After that, pathetic insects come to them, arrogantly inviting them to talk. Having gotten rid of the arrogant trash, the dragon teleported to the gang's office. When the guy appeared, they not only ignored him, but also stared at his beloved with undisguised lust, causing an uncontrollable thirst for violence. Giving in to the impulse, Silence released all his anger, tearing the criminals to pieces.

Returning home, the couple decided to correct the mistake that had led to their discovery. From the two messengers, they learned not only the reason for the failed blackmail, but also "convinced" them to tell them about people who could help them with this problem. Having found out everything they needed, Sai destroyed the bodies with his unfinished fire.

The couple spent the rest of the week before the concert in their usual rhythm. They only spent half an hour visiting a person who, for a solid reward, would make all the necessary documents and enter their data into state registers. Taking the papers a few days later, Silence made sure with the help of magic that the "artist" would not tell anyone about them.

On the day of the concert, the sky was covered with dark clouds from the very morning. According to weather forecasters, such weather would linger over Tokyo for several more days. Many people preferred to hide from the rain, waiting out the typhoon within the walls of their home or work, but this did not concern the two dragons. During the pouring rain, a couple walked under an umbrella, huddled close to each other. Although there was no particular need for an umbrella, since Silence's aura protected them from getting wet, they did not want to attract attention to such a thing. Following the directions of the navigator, the couple reached the stairs to the basement they needed.

Inside, the club had a small hall, divided into a performance area and auditoriums. In the corner, there was a small bar with drinks, where the owner of the club and her assistant were. Having taken a glass for themselves, the dragons showed off the tickets they had bought and joined a small group of people who, despite the weather, decided to attend the performance of their favorite bands. The concert was opened by an unknown "Kessoku Band", performing in front of an audience for the first time.

When there were only a few minutes left before the start, four girls went on stage to prepare for the performance. While they checked their instruments and equipment, the dragons carefully watched the pink-haired guitarist. As if noticing the surveillance, Hitori's gaze crossed with the attractive couple who had bought her tickets. Ophis waved at her with a smile, and Sai raised his hand with his drink, wishing her luck. Such goodwill embarrassed the girl, and she lowered her head, checking her guitar. Such a cute reaction amused the couple.

The stage lights turned on, signaling the beginning of the show. The red-haired lead singer introduced her band, unsuccessfully trying to amuse the crowd. After saying the title of the original song, they began to play. The overall performance was good, but the sensitive ears of the dragons noticed mistakes and inconsistencies in everyone except their favorite. The drummer took a faster tempo, falling out of the general rhythm. The lead singer made frequent mistakes in her playing, and the second guitarist did not want to adjust to the others, as if she was in her own little world.

"They're ruining her game," Ophis complained, seeing the pink-haired girl's spirits fading as several people left the hall.

"Let's see what happens next," he looked more closely at the guitarist's lowered head. As soon as the announcement of the next song ended, Hitori ran her fingers along the strings. "Haha! It seems she doesn't want to show the audience such a mediocre performance."

The sounds of the lone guitar shocked not only the audience, but also the rest of the members of band. With each chord, the girl gained momentum, demonstrating a magnificent performance. Finding the right moment, the other girls joined in with their friend's performance. Now that Hitori was leading and setting the pace, their performance sounded much better than the previous performance, but her guitar still stood out the most against the general background. The bearer of Vritra gave it her all, demonstrating the skills honed by years of training.

— She saved them from embarrassment, — Ophis said contentedly, filming the entire performance. — Her solo is mesmerizing.

— Yes, — Silence had nothing to say in response. He thought the same. — Definitely.

The band played their third and final song more collectedly. Hitori didn't have to set the rhythm again, but she still stood out from the rest of the girls. As soon as they finished, the hall filled with applause. The audience supported the band with cries of support and gratitude.

— You did well! — Ophis approached the stage, holding out a large bouquet of roses to the pink-haired girl. She simply moved the flowers from a nearby store, not wanting to miss a second of the game. — As I thought, we came to your performance for a reason. I'll be looking forward to the next time.

— Huh?! Thank you so much! — Coming out of her stupor, she took the outstretched bouquet. — I'll try to live up to your expectations!

"You already did it," Sai, who was standing next to him, spoke up. "See you soon."

Leaving the teenager to celebrate with his band, they went back to their home. The girl and her playing were too much for the dragons, so they decided to befriend her. The following weekend, the couple planned to visit the guitarist, since she worked at the same club.

During a sparring match with Crom Cruach, when the young dragon tried to use his aura to fight, Ophis appeared next to them, interrupting their training.

"What is it?" the evil dragon asked with irritation. "You've never bothered us before."

"Red will appear in the underworld soon," she ignored Crom and turned to Silence, "Want to come with me to see?"

"Great Red, huh?"

"Go away already," Crom saw the student's curiosity and was not going to disturb him. "It will be useful for you to see what you should strive for.

After receiving his consent, Ophis took his hand and teleported to the top of a lonely temple in the underworld. Silence watched with curiosity as dozens of demons surrounded and attacked a small group of their brethren.

"Is this Ddraig's host?" The youth noticed the strengthening mechanism on the demon's hand. "But why is it so weak?"

"The host itself is not very strong, so the overall result is like this." Ouroboros had already heard complaints about the Sekiryutei's strength from another dragon. "But that may change in the future. It all depends on him. By the way, Albion was very lucky this time.

"White joined the group you support?" Ophis had already told him where she periodically disappeared to. "And what's going on here anyway?"

— Yes, Vali Lucifer joined the Khaos Brigade, but he keeps to himself along with his group, — the girl took out popcorn, leaning against her boyfriend's side. — Now the demon faction wants to kill Lucifer's sister and use the artifact to attack their enemies.

— And this old man is strong, — a new member appeared in the ranks of the Sekiryuutei group, who lifted the skirt of the dark-haired girl.

— This is Odin.

— The eldest god of his pantheon, — Odin summoned a powerful spear into his hands, protecting Rias's group while they made their way inside the temple. — Then it makes sense why he is not weaker than Crom.

The pair continued to watch the battle until a new group of devils appeared on the battlefield. Silence was immediately able to recognize the current Demon Lords among them due to their popularity in the devil network. Next to them was the Governor-General of Grigori. Azazel looked at his phone screen in surprise, then around. The newcomers quickly noticed the gaze directed at them. After exchanging a few words, the smiling Fallen and the wary Sirzechs approached the couple.

"How unexpected to meet you here," Azazel was acting very friendly, as if he were old friends. "Have you decided to spend the weekend in Hell? I can recommend a few places."

"You know about it?"

"Of course! I'm your fan," the man's smile did not leave his face, but a calculating glint could be seen in his eyes. "By the way, did you install the bar as I recommended?"

"You recommended it?" Sai asked in bewilderment, but then, remembering the active commentator under his post, he burst into laughter. "Ha-ha-ha! You really are the "Son of God", Azazel! Ha-ha!" Having calmed down, the dragon was able to answer the previous question. "Yes, it was a great idea.

"I knew you'd like it," the fallen nodded confidently, "but could you tell me why you're here today? Usually, your walks happen once a week."

"You don't have to worry, Azazel," Ophis joined the conversation. "We're not going to interfere with what's going on. We have a different goal."

"Can I ask what it is?" Sirzechs asked tensely.

"A meeting with Great Red," the young man's statement left them stunned. "He'll be here soon, and we decided to take a look at that lizard.

— Great Red in the underworld is... — the fallen one didn't have time to finish speaking before the roof of the temple began to collapse due to the release of the dragon's aura. The enraged roar of the dragon was heard throughout the area, and a descendant of the first Lords appeared from the portal next to them.

— Why did he get mad? — Sai wondered when they flew off to the side, ignoring the fight between the demons. — Besides, Ddraig's aura can swallow the boy up at this rate.

— This is Juggernaut Drive, — Azazel answered him. — One of the modes of the dragon-type sacred gears. If he can't control himself, he really has a chance of being swallowed up by the malice of the previous owners of the enhancing gear. There have been similar cases in history.

— Thank you for the clarification, Azazel.

— You're welcome, — the man waved his hand. — I think I'll go help my student, he's too interesting a guy.

Silence watched the Sekiryutei's rampage with interest. He even managed to see the appearance of the Albion carrier, but soon his attention was completely switched to the powerful vibrations of space. A few kilometers away from them, a portal from the gap between dimensions appeared in the sky, from where the majestic figure of a red European dragon appeared. Power emanated from him, giving away one of the strongest creatures of this world.

Great Red sensed a familiar presence nearby and turned his head towards Ouroboros and her little crush. After watching his former rival for a while, he only snorted, turning away. Such a dismissive attitude immediately enraged Silence. He himself did not understand his actions when he took a deep breath and, using magic, roared towards Red.

The deafening roar attracted the attention of everyone around, including the "dream dragon". Seeing the little boy looking at him with such a challenging expression, Great Red breathed out a weak flame towards him. However, it seemed weak to creatures like Ouroboros and the Apocalypse Dragon, but not to others. Seeing the approaching attack, Silence released his own flames with elements of aura. It had almost no effect, only weakening the power a little.

He could easily dodge the slow attack, but something inside him prevented him from making that decision, so Sai resorted to his full strength. With his magical eyes activated, he could sense the weakest point of the approaching threat. The aura in his body began to boil as he gradually condensed it into one point. Pain began to penetrate Sai's body from the intense tension. Feeling his limit, he released a breath that was more like a concentrated beam of energy. The new attack was able to take effect. Everything the beam touched simply disappeared, as if it had never existed.

"Unbelievable!" Azazel, watching everything, whispered. — Although weakened, it is still an attack of the Dragon God. To be able to withstand this, what a terrifying youth.

Ophis, who had been watching this, narrowed her eyes at the disappearing dragon and approached Silence. He was now lying powerlessly on the ground, heavily gulping air. Drops of blood were flowing from the boy's ears, eyes and nose. The girl did not like this state of her lover, but she did not want to interfere with this. Sai had done a stupid thing when he challenged such a strong creature. If she had sensed the intent to kill in the attack, she would have immediately intervened, but that did not happen, so Silence should learn a lesson. You can't act so rashly. The red one only spat in the direction of the impudent worm and ran away, feeling Ophis's irritated gaze.

— Ah, Ophis, get off — half-hearted attempts to throw the girl who had sat down on his chest did not lead to anything, he was too weak at the moment. — It's hard for me to breathe.

"It's okay, you'll be patient," Ouroboros replied calmly, flicking his forehead. "I don't want to see such stupidity from you again!"

"But he..."

"I can't hear an answer," Ophis ran her claws over his face, lowering her head to his neck, squeezing it a little. "Silence."

"I'm sorry," the dragon admitted his guilt. "I won't take such risks again."

"Good boy," she patted the boy on the head with a grin. "Now let's go home. You need to recover."
