Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: The Reality Check

The night in the forest is still quiet, with only the distant rustling of leaves in the wind. Mia sits on the moss-covered rock, her mind reeling from the strange turn of events. She now has two Pokémon with her: Chansey, the large, round, gentle creature, and Audino, a smaller, more delicate version with large ears and a soft voice. The peaceful atmosphere seems to mock her confusion, but it's undeniable that she's not alone.

---

[ FOREST – NIGHT]

Mia's eyes are wide as she stares at Audino, who stands in front of her, still slightly glowing from the flash of the Pokéball. She can't believe what just happened. First, Chansey. Now this.

Audino looks at her curiously, his big ears twitching slightly. He doesn't seem phased by the situation, and in fact, he looks almost... calm. Mia sighs deeply, trying to steady her nerves, but the strange reality she's found herself in is starting to feel more and more like a nightmare she can't wake up from.

"Hey, um... can I ask you something?"

She asked hesitantly

Audino looks at her, his eyes wide and innocent, then tilts his head as if to say "go ahead."

gathering her courage, she asked

"Where... where do you come from?"

Audino pauses for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, in the softest of voices, he responds.

"Audino?"

Mia stares at him, waiting for more of an answer, but he just shakes his head gently, his large ears flopping slightly as he does. The lack of any real explanation only adds to her growing sense of unease.

She sigh, feeling the weight of her confusion as she didn't understand.

Audino lowers his head, his large eyes softening with sympathy. He steps closer to Mia, nuzzling her gently as if trying to comfort her. It's a small gesture, but it's enough to help her feel less alone.

"I don't even know what's going on anymore... Is this... is this really happening?"

Chansey, sitting quietly beside her, gives a soft, reassuring "Chansey!" as if to say that she's there, that she's not alone. Mia looks at both of them, still struggling to make sense of the world she's in, but her body finally starts to give in to the exhaustion that's been creeping up on her for hours.

yawning 'I... I need to rest.' She thought as she leans her back against the rock, feeling the coolness of the moss beneath her. She closes her eyes, trying to push the overwhelming confusion aside. But even as she drifts into a restless sleep, she hears the soft murmurs of Chansey and Audino talking in their own language—comforting, calming sounds in a world that has completely turned upside down.

---

The night passes, with the sounds of the forest and the quiet conversations of the Pokémon filling the air. Mia sleeps fitfully, her mind filled with strange dreams and fleeting images of her old life—her family, her home, and the hospital room she'd been in just before everything changed. She wakes up in the same spot, feeling groggy and disoriented.

"Where... where am I?"

She blinks against the pale light of the morning light, the cool air brushing against her skin. Her heart races, and she sits up quickly, scanning her surroundings. The forest is still there. The trees, the moss-covered rocks, the distant calls of Pokémon. She inhales sharply.

"No... no way. I'm still here."

She looks down at her hands, then at the Pokéballs by her side. It feels all too real. The soft ground beneath her, the weight of the bag she's holding, the presence of Chansey and Audino... it's all too real.

Almost crying, whispering to herself

"This can't be real... I can't... I can't be real, right? This is just a dream in a coma... Right? "

She stands up, looking around in a panic. She wants to believe that this is all some weird, surreal dream, that she's still lying unconscious in a hospital room. Maybe this is all just a coma-induced fantasy. But deep down, she knows it's not true. This world is... too different, too foreign. The forest, the Pokémon, the unfamiliar currency... it's all too much.

"Please... tell me I'm dreaming. Tell me this isn't real." She muttered desperately

Audino, who has been watching her closely, steps forward and looks up at her with gentle eyes. He doesn't say anything, but the soft gaze in his eyes speaks volumes. Chansey, too, nudges her gently, her round eyes filled with understanding.

She collapsing back onto the rock, her voice becomes shaky.

"How did I end up here? Was I... was I even supposed to come here?"

Her thoughts begin to swirl, memories of the hospital flashing in and out of focus. She can almost remember the pain, the coldness of the sterile room, and the beeping of machines... and then nothing. Her mind reels, and she stares out at the vast forest, trying to make sense of her situation.

Suddenly, a thought strikes her—an idea from one of the novels she used to read when she was bored in the hospital. Transmigration. She'd read about it countless times, characters waking up in completely different worlds, sometimes even in the bodies of people they'd never met. Could this be... could she have somehow... transmigrated?

Staring off into space, softly said "did I just... transmigrate like those characters in novels?"

Her voice is barely a whisper, and for the first time, she feels the full weight of the possibility. Could it be true? Could she really be stuck in this world, surrounded by Pokémon and mysteries she doesn't understand?

As the sun begins to rise over the horizon, casting a soft glow over the forest, Mia feels a sinking feeling in her chest. This is real. And there's no going back.

To be continued...
