Chapter 2 - The first Goal is Set

Chapter 2. The First Goal is Set

— Mom, I'm back. I'd better head straight to my room — I need to complete Fox's assignment.

— Alright, go ahead. I'll cook something tasty in the meantime.

So I began working. Most of the books were boring, but one of them unexpectedly caught my attention.

> "It was a book about ancient weapons and technologies. I got so absorbed that I read it all in one night. Each page brought entire worlds to life in my imagination… That night, a spark of a new goal ignited within me. I realized: this is my path."

— Sei, wake up, it's time for work! — Mom called from the kitchen.

— What happened to your eyes? They used to be blue, but now they're red… And your hair — yesterday it was fiery red and neat, now it's messy. Did you stay up all night? — she asked, surprised and a little concerned.

— Sorry, Mom. The book was just so interesting, I couldn't stop reading.

— Wash up and come have breakfast, — she said firmly but with care.

— Okay, Mom… I'm so sleepy, but no — I'm going back to the library today. I won't go to work, — I whispered to myself.

---

Later, at the library:

— Hi, Marten! Can I borrow a few more books? I really liked the one I read, — I asked with excitement.

— Sorry, Sei, but your uncle Fox already took them, — Marten said with a slight smirk.

My mood instantly dropped. "Another failure... I'm sure he won't let me read them," I thought gloomily.

— Alright… Thanks, Marten. I'll head to work then.

---

Later, at work:

— Hello, Uncle Fox. I need to talk to you.

— Yes, Sei, what is it? — he replied with interest.

— Uncle, I wanted to ask… Could I borrow the books you took from the library today? Just for a week. I've been really inspired by them, and… I even set a personal goal. To achieve it, I need a solid foundation — and I believe those books are that foundation. "Though it's unlikely he'll agree," I thought to myself.

— Sei, if you've truly taken an interest in those books, then I'm absolutely delighted. They tell the story of our hostile wall — the divide between the races of monsters and humans, — Fox said with a mysterious smile.

— You're not joking, Uncle Fox? I'm so happy! Thank you so much! "I've never seen him so pleased… It's like he became a different person," I thought.

— Yes, Sei. These books contain the secrets of two worlds. I'll teach you everything I know. For now, go home and read all three volumes. They'll be useful in the future.

— Thank you, Uncle Fox! I'll read them all!

— Come back tomorrow, and I'll explain everything in more detail, — he said happily.

— I will! See you tomorrow!
