Chapter 5 - Internet of Deception

Alone in her poorly lighted apartment, Joan sat gazing at the images Davis had left behind. Her hand trembling, she touched the pictures; her head spun with uncertainty and uncertainty. Could Alex honestly have been playing her?

Her heart gave a shoutout.

However, the pictures told a different tale.

A quick knocking at the door startled her. Trying to recover her composure, she fast-kissed at her eyes. Chelsea stood before the door, concern written across her features, open.

Chelsea wanted as she entered: "What happened?" ""Davis rang me and told said you had to speak."

Joan chuckled mordantly. "Then he is the worry boy?"

Chelsea begged, "Joan, please speak to me." " 'What did he do? '".

Joan stopped herself for an instance before passing the pictures.

" Davis," Joan whispered quietly. "He told me I needed the truth."

Chelsea's eyebrows fell together. And you honestly believe him?

"Joan screamed, obviously upset, 'I don't know what to think anymore!'" "I adore Alex, but suppose he's been lying to me all traagemant? "

Chelsea sighed and shook her head. "Joan, this just does not feel good." Why would Davis suddenly care about you?

"Maybe he aims to save me."

Chelsea argued "Or maybe he is just trying to play you, more. "You know he has always been close with your father, and your father wants you and Alex to end."

Joan felt a knot in her belly tighten.

Was she being mocked?

The groundwork

Davis sat with Mr run around the place. Harris had an exclusive dinner. The chandeliers' gentle radiance throws long shadows over their table.

"Grinning, Davis said she bought it" and sipped his whiskey. She is doubting him now.

John Harris snorted. "Good's." Still, that is not sufficient. We have to make absolutely sure she is permanently done with him.

Davis arched an eyebrow. "What's the intention?"

"we supply her with a reason for loathing him," Mr. Harris slid an envelope over the table in response. "I've already prepared the snare. Alex will never have cause to realize it.

Davis tore at the envelope, his lips expanding into a smile.

"This will be great amusement."

Alex's Falling apart

Alex, meanwhile, was outside Joan's condominium complex with a pounding heart. Since their argument, he had not slept a bit.

He rapped at the door.

Quiet.

With a shout, "Joan, allow me in," he called.

The door started to open slowly. Joan was standing there with crossed arms and a blank face.

She said, her voice frigid, "What would you like, Alex?"

"I want to merely speak. I would like to solve this."

Joan breathed out. "Then let me know honestly. Did you have another lady with you?

Alex set his teeth. "No. Those pictures are phony, Joan, I promise."

"Alex stopped mid-thought to say, "Davis is lying. "Think about it Joan.ill. Who stands to gain the most if we split up?

Joan wavered.

With Alex close and voice earnest. "I love you. I would never allow you to be hurt.

Joan scanned him. "The display is then presented by me."

" Certainly not."

"Find out who made you. "

Alex gave a nod. "I will. And when I do, I trust you will be able to trust us again."At certain times

Joan gulped hard and saw him spin away from view.

She wished she could trust him.

But was love alone truly enough?

The Trap is Laid

Deep in thought, Joan was in a cafe the next night when her phone vibrated.

Unknown Number: Come to The Royale Club if you want the honest truth. 12 o'clock.

She felt the quickness of her heart.

Was this only another sleight of hand?

Or the truth she needed it quite desperately?

Against her best judgement she chose to go straight.

At midnight, she entered the poorly light club. The powerful music vibrated through the speakers; the air smelled of alcohol and was full of smoke.

Looking around the room, she finally saw him.

Alexander.

He was seated in a VIP booth, another woman long over him.

She had a hitch of breath.

Whispering in Alex's ear, the woman leaned in and then kissed his neck.

Joan's chest ached sharp.

Was she actually a fool all her life?

She turned and ran without second thought.

Davis grinned in the shadows behind her.

The strategy had been effective.

Alex's Finding

Alex woke up the following morning with a pounding headache.

The night before last he hardly remembered.

All he could remember was sharing a drink with a past buddy… then all went black.

Someone knocked on his door.

Albert stood there, his face contorted in fury, as he opened the door.

Albert cried, jamming his phone into Alex's face, "You are such a fool."

Displayed on the screen was a clip of Alex at The Royale Club intoxicated and a woman kissing his neck.

Alex shivered. I have no memory of any of this.

Albert replied, "Well, Joan saw it," "She buys whatever Davis said now."

Alex mumbled, "This was a set." "I was drugged."

Albert folded his arms. Then you have to demonstrate it to be true. Before you are forever without her."

Alex balled his hands.

He was fighting against his downward movement.

Joan's breaking point is Mutable.

Joan sat in the apartment of Chelsea, her eyes fixedly on her vacant coffee cup.

Joan mumbled, her voice almost at a whisper, he lied. "I saw it myself.&quo;

"Joan..." Chelsea hesitated, looking for the perfect words. What if he was framed?

Joan shook her head; she appeared rather irritated. 'Chelsea, I can't do this anymore. I'm drowning.

Chelsea breathed wearily. Then you might want to step back and simply breathe.

Joan shut her eyes and let the gravity of the second hit her.

Chelsea could have been right.

It was perhaps time to let it go.

The start of the end

Slamming the door with a power of resound in the room, Alex came bursting into Davis's office.

"You drugged me!" he yelled, his voice full of fury.

Davis grinned, unperturbed. "Further it."

Alex's hands were greatingly clenched by his sides. Joan will never forgive you for your act once it is found out.

"If," cool-headed Davis interrupted, "if she discovered at any time. Right now she detests you. And shortly she will leave you permanently.

Alex'eyes sparked fury. "To win will not be allowed by me."

With a cocky smile on his lips, Davis leaned back. &Let's start fighting then. Knowing this game far from over, laughed Bill to himself as Alex left since you are losing right now. He had only begun to scratch the surface.
