Chapter 5 - You have to marry him.

Bang!

Only the loud door clink was left behind. Her step father locked her inside .

She cried her eyes out shouting for help, but who would help her? Stepsister Bianca? Or her mother Mary? Not to talk of her step brother who is never bothered with what happens at home. All his attention is always on video games.

Knowing her fate was inevitable, she decided to surrender to it. Leaning on the door she slowly sat on the floor.

" Bianca is right, l must have been a very bad person in my previous life, and now, am paying for my previous sins." She muttered helplessly.

Laying her head down on a cold floor, she decided to wait for her inevitable fate and surrendered to destiny.

Down in the parlour, Bianca, Mary and her husband sat enjoying the aromatic black coffee. Yet still their faces looked dreadfully. The atmosphere was silent, everyones mind was fixed on the coffee and the wedding that is meant to take place the next day.

"Am not leaving here, l can't afford any mistake." Mark declared. " Give me more coffee."

He was determined not to feel tipsy till sunrise.

" Father, are you sure our plan will succeed?" Bianca tugged on her father's arm like a spoiled brate that she was.

" Oh my pretty baby, l won't let you marry that beast of a man, never!" Mark gently rubbed Bianca's hair.

Years ago, after the death of Eva's father, her mother Mary remarried, but on the day if their wedding night, Mark was still bubbling with the joy of his new life when disaster struck. a gang of notorious goons, clad in heavy leather, descended upon Mark and Mary in the streets.

With crude jeers and menacing sneers, they surrounded the couple, eyes glinting with malice.

"Your money or your lives!" one goon snarled, brandishing a wicked-looking dagger. Fear tightened Mark's chest as he instinctively shielded Mary, his heart racing as he desperately searched for help.

Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a figure loomed at the edge of one corner. Well it was just a coincidence that the stranger was heading to his night mission when he glanced at them.

A tall, slender man adorned in a flowing cloak of iridescent silver stepped forward, his face hidden behind a striking silver mask that shimmered in the twilight. His presence felt almost otherworldly, radiating an aura that seemed to bend the very air around him.

"Please!" Mark cried out, the words tumbling from his lips in anguish.

"You must help us! I will fulfill any wish you have, at all cost!"

The masked stranger stood unmoving for a heartbeat, gauging the intensity of the situation. With a nod that signified understanding, he swept into action.

His movements were swift and graceful as he engaged the goons with unmatched precision. Each strike was a dance, a blend of strength and agility that sent the attackers tumbling back, their bravado crumbling into fear.

A gasp echoed from the onlookers as the masked man confronted the last of the thugs. With a final, effortless sweep of his leg, the final goon toppled onto the ground, a look of terror etched onto his face, prompting the remaining henchmen to scatter into the night, their powerful façade shattered.

With the danger now gone, the masked man turned to Mark and Mary, whose wide, astonished eyes flickered with gratitude.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Mark exclaimed, taking a step closer. "You saved our lives!"

The silver mask glinted as the stranger leaned slightly closer. "Do not thank me yet," he replied in a voice that rumbled like thunder.

"I need from you that which you possess but do not know."

Mark's brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean? What is it that I have but don't know?"

"Your gift of surprise," the masked man declared, a cryptic smile hinting at the corners of his mouth. "Every person carries an unseen treasure within them"

The Law of gift of suprise dictates that a man saved by another is expected to offer to his savior a boon whose nature is unknown to one or both parties.

Relactantly mark agreed, few minutes before they could even depart, his wife Mary suddenly felt like vomiting, and yes, she did . Which only meant that the mysterious man will have to own the child whom Mary carried and that's Bianca at present.

The time had reached where mark was supposed to fullfill his promise, but because he was not ready to give out his only precious daughter to a mysterious man also know for his villain and cruel behaviours on women, decided to exchange his daughters fate with his step daughter Eva Garcia.

Mary was helpless , she pitied her daughter but had no voice to opposes, afterall both are her daughters but she too dotted on Bianca more than Eva.

Time elapsed, in a blink of an eye, the dawn was criso and clear, Eva's eyes had black circles, sullen and bloodshot.

She had cried the whole night weeping and cursing the day she was born.

" Only if l had father, maybe l wouldn't have had to live like a slave." She thought.

The clicking sound of the keys at the door woke her up from the floor she lay pondering.

A white bridal gown and a veil was thrown on her face, she frown, clenched her jaws but still did nothing. The man Infront if him was already in his black new edition custom suits. His gaze cold and blatantly said.

You have few minutes to get ready, the car is a waiting at the entrance."

Eva looked down her face pale, mark wasn't happy with her facial expressions that he grabbed her hand , twisting it so hard, but Eva didn't wince or wail of any pain, it was as if she had lost sense of pain.

He gritted his teeth and hissed.

" If you dare rebell at the altar, l will kill your mother with my own hands."
