Chapter 12 - Chapter 11 'Venturing (4)'

Venturing (4)

---

A festival was in full swing at the Sun Village—or at least, that's what any outsider would assume if they stumbled upon the scene.

Giants filled the wide, sunbaked streets, sprawled out. Many were snoring loudly, their thunderous breaths rattling windows and shaking the ground. Others were still very much awake, guffawing, clinking barrels together, they laughed joyfully as their laugh filled the streets.

Massive barrels of booze rested in their hands, some nearly empty, others overflowing with frothy ale. Laughter echoed through the air like distant thunder.

"Gahahahhahaha!"

"Ahahah! What's this part about?"

"Don't know."

"Heard a human came."

"Oh wow. Bahahhaha."

It seemed as if it was earthquake as the Giants jumped, the ground trembling.

Amid the towering figures, dance our very own human - Shanks Clive. The man who danced with the Giants.

The beat was old. It was a song passed down through generations of Giants—and Shanks had also remembered it.

"Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho. Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho!"

Their deep, booming voices sang in perfect harmony, shaking the air itself. A group of Giants provided the chorus, slapping their barrels and feet in rhythm.

"Binkusu no sake wo todoke ni yuku yo.Umikaze, kimakase nami makase!"

The chant rolled over the village like a crashing wave, powerful and nostalgic. The song that the Ancient Giants sung on their voyages.

Shanks, for all his difference in size and species, fit right in. He threw his head back and laughed as a particularly rowdy Giant scooped him up, placing him on his broad shoulder so he could dance with the others eye-to-eye.

He didn't even spill his milk.

As he danced to the beat, everybody laughed and enjoyed themselves. These was the nature of Giants and though Shanks had only been here for hours. He too was getting influenced by their nature.

The party lasted for hours until every Giant in the village slept under the warmth of the Eternal Flame. The giant fire that if were to be frozen would be comparable to a Mountain.

That day ended in party as everybody slept, without a care of the world.

Shanks Pov

"Why don't you stay here for some time and learn some few tricks from us?" One of the older Giants said to me. I could sense that he was very powerful, and his proposal surprised me.

"Huh? Really?" I asked them automatically; I was surprised by their proposal since they had no benefit from teaching me their tricks or whatever they called tricks.

"Well, there are two reasons actually." The older Giant said, we were in his house as he was one of the elders of the village.

"Mind telling me?" I asked the Giant, and he nodded.

"First of all, you have a Giant's blood running through your body. It's not much, you might just be a descendant but there is undoubtedly a Giant somewhere down your lineage."

So, I have a Giant's blood running through my body? God damn- Was it from Gildarts side?

...Who am I kidding, I know it's from my mother side. It's not like She told me or anything, but it was a gut feeling. Like something within me confirming it and that something might just be my blood.

I remember my mother- Sara. She was around 6'2 so I could see her having a Giant's blood but that meant one of my ancestors mated with a Giant.

'I can't even imagine it.'

"A Giant's blood eh! How would a Giant and a Human work though?" I was curious about it the most.

"When there is a will, there is a way." The older Giant gave me a cryptic answer and I knew why. He did not know how either.

"So, yeah. I understand. What's the next reason?"

"Do you see the large flame over there?" He replied to my question with another one and I could only just nod at his question.

"Yeah..."

I really did not know where he was going with this one.

"That is not just some big ass fire. That is the will of a Dragon from Ancient Times- The Flame Dragon- Atlas Flame."

I nodded my head. I did not know how to react to it. He also seemed to not care so I just remained stoic.

The Giant continued -

"The Eternal Flame gave me a blessing, the ability to sense the intent and conviction and I can see yours, the good intent in your heart and the conviction to be strong. The traits all Giants must possess whether they be a full blooded one or a distant descendant."

I nodded my head. I guess it made sense.

"If that's the case then I would be honor to learn few tricks from you all."

I spoke. My voice full of conviction. The Giant grinned "But you should inform the people waiting for you back home."

I nodded to him. "Yeah. I will be leaving for now and I will come back as soon as I send a letter back home."

The Giant nodded. "You can go back after eating. Let's eat first."

I grinned. "Sure."

They cooked one of the best meats I had ever ate and they ate meat daily so yeah it would be fun.

I said temporary byes to everybody and moved towards the desert once again. Rushing to reach Cacti Village as soon as possible.
