The War of Crowns:
The War of Crowns was a massive, kingdom-shattering conflict that took place over a century ago, fought between seven royal bloodlines for control over the last known source of pure Aetherstone — the essence of magic.
Participants:
The Crown of Erelan (light magic and old noble blood)
The Highborn of Vhal (beast-riders and warlocks)
The Spire-Folk of Armathis (scholar-mages)
And four other lesser kingdoms, many now extinct.
Aftermath:The war ended not with a victor but with the Descent, a magical catastrophe triggered by the misuse of the last remaining Mindcore — a relic of ancient thought-magic.It fractured the land, gave birth to the Dreadlands, and weakened the magic in the world.
Mindflensers:
The Mindflensers are terrifying enforcers who specialize in mental domination, memory extraction, and the silencing of anyone with forbidden mind-based magic.
Origins & Lore:
Predecessors:Once, there were Mindwalkers — peaceful philosophers and navigators of consciousness. They could project thoughts, heal minds, and shape reality through pure intellect.
Corruption:After the War of Crowns and the Descent, the Dominors hunted all who used forbidden mind-magic. Some Mindwalkers were captured, twisted by pain and spells, and transformed into Mindflensers.
Abilities:
Can strip memories from their victims.
Detect latent magical thought-energy — like Kael's glyph work.
Known to leave people hollow, like broken puppets.
Only Dominors of the highest rank are allowed to summon them.
Appearance:Hooded, faceless, wearing robes stitched with golden thread. They do not speak aloud — only through mind-whispers. Their presence often precedes a purge.
