Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Let the Victim Appear!

The job of adventurer is as versatile as it gets. At its best, they support heroes in defeating Demon Kings. At worst, they're petty thieves scraping by.Anyone with a silver coin can get a license from the guild: wanderers, criminals, country kids, city slackers...

A new day dawned at Sain Dungeon, and crowds gathered near the portal, waiting for it to open.Besides adventurers, merchants and street vendors gathered. Most notably, nobles sent large groups of miners to extract Bloodcrystal, a red mineral vital for local industries. At its peak, the dungeon saw over a thousand people daily.

"This is it—the famous baby's-first-dungeon! So easy a fool could clear it!"At the entrance stood a lively girl with golden wavy hair. Her simple leather armor couldn't hide her noble aura.In short: a runaway noble daughter who for some reason decided to become an adventurer. Probably boredom.

"Please don't run so fast, Lady Hainis!"Behind her, the maid Filly—a tall beauty with sapphire hair and model-like legs—tried to keep up.

"We agreed: finish this dungeon and go home. Your mother is worried.""Yeah yeah," Hainis replied casually... and darted into the portal while Filly blinked.

"Wait!"Filly rushed after her. She hated teleportation.

"So dark?"She opened her eyes to a desolate village, lit by scattered torches.Twisted branches looked like skeletal hands. The reports said Sain Dungeon was a sunlit ruin. This felt like a haunted house.

"Damn info sellers,"Drawing her sword, Filly called out: "My Lady, where are you!?"

She passed the village gate and reached a ruined church at the end of the main road.No reply. She pushed the door—locked.

"Aaaah!"A scream!She dashed to the sound.No Hainis—just a wooden chest.

"She was here," Filly muttered, sniffing the air with her beast ears visible. She flipped open the chest.

[Teleport trap activated!]"Huh!?"Thick fog engulfed her.

When it cleared—she was elsewhere. Then, something warm jumped into her arms.

"L-Lady Hainis?""It was horrible! Why was there a trap in the chest!?" cried the girl.Filly sighed and patted her. "Stick close next time."

They were in an underground mining area filled with glowing red minerals."Which way now?"Skeletons approached. A sword slash shattered them.

"You're amazing, Filly!"They picked a tunnel and walked on.

A while later... a skeleton's eyes lit with blue flames. It grinned silently.

"Look, a glowing spot!"Hainis pointed at a white light. In dungeons, loot shines—white (common), purple (rare), gold (legendary).A goblin dug nearby, unaware.

Can I? she asked with her eyes.Filly nodded. One swift strike—Hainis downed the goblin.

"A throwing knife!"Proudly, she showed it.

Filly smiled—until her face froze."Back off!""Huh?"

Three goblins leapt out!Hainis killed two but got bitten.

Filly finished the last one and healed her."These damn things! Where were they hiding!?"Turns out they ambushed from shadows—one acting as bait.Even Filly had lowered her guard.

"This dungeon isn't right."Something had changed—or they were lied to.

"Let's stay sharp from now on."She noticed indentations along the walls—just big enough for ambushes.

Click! She stepped on something.RUMBLEA giant iron boulder rolled toward them.

"RUN!"Filly grabbed Hainis and fled...

CLACK CLACK!Skeletal arms linked at the exit—blocking their escape. At the front, the lead skeleton... bore the mark of Filly's earlier attack.

It had revived.
