Chapter 2 - NEW LIFE

Elcos stood in the village, lost in thoughts of his past and his parents. Hours passed, but his dark expression did not change. He was consumed by a desire for revenge, ignoring the consequences. As the sun began to set, his legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground.

Sometime later, a couple passing by saw him lying there. Concerned, they rushed to his side and decided to take him to their home. They gently lifted him and carried him to safety.

When Elcos regained consciousness, he found himself lying on a soft bed. A woman sat beside him, her eyes filled with concern. As he opened his eyes, she smiled gently and said, "You are finally awake. You were unconscious for hours. We found you on the edge of the village."

Elcos blinked, trying to process her words. "Oh, thanks for helping me," he replied, attempting to sit up. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and tried to stand, but the woman quickly held his hand.

"Why are you going? You can stay here," she insisted.

Elcos shook his head. "No, I will go."

The woman frowned. "Where are your parents? We can get them here. Your condition is not good, and you should rest."

Elcos looked away, his voice barely a whisper. "I don't have parents. I am an orphan."

The woman's expression softened. "Oh, I'm sorry. So you don't have a home?"

Elcos nodded. "Yes."

She looked at him with a mix of pity and determination. "You can stay with us. We will take care of you until you can live independently."

Elcos hesitated. "No problem. I can stay on my own."

The woman shook her head firmly. "You look very young, and you will not be able to stay on your own. You don't know the true colors of this world yet."

Elcos's eyes hardened. "Don't force me."

The woman sighed. "We don't have kids, and you don't have parents. We can adopt you and live happily."

Elcos felt a pang of gratitude. "I should be thankful to you for letting me live with you."

The woman smiled warmly. "So sweet of you. What is your name, anyway?"

Elcos hesitated for a moment before replying, "My name is Dannie."

As they talked, the woman's husband entered the room. He felt something strange about Elcos but was still happy to adopt him. However, deep inside, Elcos was sad and angry. His parents had been killed, and his little sister was missing.

His new mother prepared him a special lunch, which included vegetables and meat. Elcos ate it quickly, savoring every bite. It was his first full meal in a long time.

Days turned into weeks, and Elcos began to settle into his new life.
