The adrenaline still thrummed in Bella's veins as the city lights faded behind them. The road ahead stretched into the darkness, unknown and uncertain—just like the man sitting beside her.
Damien slid his gun back into the holster beneath his jacket, his face a mask of calm. Too calm.
Bella exhaled shakily. "What now?"
"We regroup," Damien said, his voice low, steady. "We find out who betrayed us."
Leo kept his eyes on the road. "I already have a few names in mind."
Bella shivered, rubbing her arms. This world—Damien's world—was cold, ruthless. And yet, she was in it now, trapped in a dangerous game with no escape.
She turned to Damien, her voice barely above a whisper. "And me? What happens to me?"
He met her gaze, something unreadable flashing in his dark eyes. Then, he reached out, his fingers brushing against her cheek in a way that sent a shiver down her spine.
"You stay with me."
His words were both a promise and a warning.
