Chapter 2 - The Divine Beast's Arrival and the Rochel Family's Legacy

Chapter: 2

The Holy Bishop took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly as he prepared to try again.

The first attempt had failed in an unprecedented way—the golden light that was supposed to reveal the child's talent had shone brightly but produced no visible result.

Such an occurrence had never happened before.

Whispers spread through the banquet hall, doubt creeping into the nobles' eyes.

"Could it be… the Duke's son is talentless?"

"No… that cannot be. The Rochel family has never produced a weak heir!"

"Then what is happening?"

The Holy Bishop ignored the murmurs, focusing solely on the young boy.

He was the son of Duke Rowley Rochel and Duchess Elara Rochel, both legendary beast tamers. There was no way this child lacked talent.

"Once more." The Holy Bishop raised his hand.

A radiant light engulfed the room once again, but this time… something was different.

The air shimmered. The very space around them trembled, and a pulse of divine energy surged outward, sending chills down everyone's spine.

Then, without warning—

A massive egg materialized in the center of the banquet hall.

The moment it appeared, an overwhelming pressure filled the room.

A Moment of Silence, Then—Chaos

For a long moment, no one spoke.

Every single noble, knight, and scholar in the banquet hall stared at the imposing egg, its surface glowing with ancient golden runes.

The Holy Bishop was the first to react. His eyes, usually calm and wise, widened in pure shock and disbelief.

"No… this… this is impossible." His voice trembled.

Duke Rowley Rochel, a man known for his unshakable composure, clenched his fists.

"Could it be…?" Duchess Elara whispered, her golden eyes reflecting the light of the glowing egg.

The murmurs in the banquet hall exploded into an uproar.

"What in the world is that?!"

"I've never seen a beast egg appear during a talent awakening ritual!"

"Wait! Look at the energy radiating from it—this isn't an ordinary beast egg!"

Then, as if answering their questions, the Holy Bishop took a deep breath and spoke.

His voice was laced with awe and fear.

"This… is a Basilisk's egg."

The Mythical Serpent King

Silence descended once more.

And then—

Pure chaos.

Nobles stood up so suddenly that their chairs toppled over. Some people gasped, others stumbled backward, while a few even fell to their knees in shock.

"A… A Basilisk?"

"No… no way…"

"A Basilisk—the Serpent King?! But that beast is a myth!"

"It's said to be a creature of destruction! Even gods fear its power!"

"How could such a beast… choose a human master?!"

Even among Divine Beasts, Basilisks were legendary.

Their gaze alone was said to bring instant death.

Their very presence could bend the laws of nature, making them one of the most feared and revered creatures in history.

Yet now—

One had chosen a seven-year-old child.

The Holy Bishop turned toward Duke Rowley and Duchess Elara, his face serious.

"Duke Rochel… Duchess Rochel… This is not just a rare blessing. This is a sign." His voice carried undeniable weight.

"Your son is no ordinary child. He is destined for something far greater than this kingdom."

The Duke did not speak immediately.

Instead, he gazed at his son—the boy who sat on his chair, staring at the glowing egg with a mixture of curiosity and wonder.

Then, a deep, hearty laugh erupted from his chest.

"Hahahaha!"

The sound shook the entire banquet hall.

Duchess Elara, usually calm and composed, allowed a rare smile to form on her lips.

"As expected of our son."

The Aftermath of the Banquet

After the divine revelation, the banquet continued, but the atmosphere had completely changed.

The Rochel Family had once again proven its supremacy.

Their son was not only talented—he was chosen by a Divine Beast.

This news alone was enough to shake the entire empire.

Many noble families immediately rushed to offer marriage proposals, hoping to secure ties with the Rochel Family.

Some offered riches. Others promised loyalty.

"A child who has awakened a Basilisk will surely grow into a legend!" one noble whispered.

"If we form a marriage alliance now, our family's future will be secured!" another plotted.

However—

Every single proposal was instantly rejected.

Not negotiated. Not considered.

Refused outright.

Many nobles were furious.

"Why reject such valuable alliances?!"

"Do they think they're above the rest of us?"

But those who knew the truth understood.

The Rochel Family's Sacred Marriage Pact

For generations, the Rochel Family had only married into one bloodline—the Laistrygones family of vampires.

To outsiders, this tradition seemed strange. Why would one of the strongest human families limit their marriage choices only to vampires?

But those who knew the truth understood.

The Laistrygones vampires were not ordinary creatures of the night.

They did not drink human blood.

They were immortal, possessed unnatural strength, and their magic rivaled that of gods.

Most importantly—

They were the only race strong enough to match the Rochel bloodline.

The Rochel Family had always produced monstrous warriors and beast tamers. Their power was too overwhelming for ordinary humans.

Without an equally powerful partner, their bloodline would weaken.

Thus, a sacred pact was made centuries ago:

The Rochel Family shall only wed the Laistrygones Vampires.

And so, no matter how desperate the other nobles were, their proposals meant nothing.

The Rochel bloodline's strength was not up for sale.

A New Path Unfolds

As the banquet came to an end, the young heir sat in his room, staring at the glowing egg before him.

A Basilisk.

A Divine Beast.

A creature of unimaginable power.

His hands trembled slightly as he placed a palm against the warm surface of the egg.

"Is this really my fate?" he whispered.

The egg shook—as if responding to him.

A small smile formed on his lips.

"I don't know what the future holds… but I will not fear it."

This was only the beginning.

His new life in this world was about to truly begin.

End of chapter.
