Chapter 2 - Becoming Rich

In the downpour, Ye Fan walked down the street toward a convenience store, his mind racing. He needed to test the system—but he didn't have enough money to risk anything big just yet. From the moment the system activated, the balance had been rising steadily.

"725… 726… 727 yuan…"

He transferred the accumulated amount to his bank account and quickly got the notification. The money was real. He felt exhilarated.

Not wasting any time, he stepped into the convenience store and picked up a bottle of water priced at 10 yuan.

[Ding! Host spends 10 yuan. Starting accumulation: 11 yuan per second.]

Ye Fan's heart thudded in his chest.

"That's nearly 950,000 yuan per day…"

His fingers trembled slightly as he grasped the bottle. He didn't hesitate. He left the store and headed toward more places to spend money—anything that would push his income higher.

He roamed the city, swiping his card, buying from clothing stores, tech shops, and even random cafés. Slowly but steadily, his passive income kept rising.

Now, it was 1,500 yuan every second.

Ye Fan did the math in his head.

"That's over 129 million yuan a day…"

A bitter smile crept onto his face.

"I earn more in a single day than that rich fatty earns in a whole year," he muttered under his breath, eyes cold. "And Lu Ruiyan thought he was the better choice because of money? Let's see how long she keeps thinking that."

[Ding! System level up. New function unlocked.]

[Ding! Shop open. Host can use system points to unlock skills, industries, talents, and upgrade stats such as strength and looks.]

Ye Fan's thoughts were interrupted by the mechanical voice. His smirk deepened.

So this was just the beginning.

"System, how do I get points?"

[Ding! Host gains one point every hour. To earn more, reach an income of 1 million yuan per second.]

He glanced at his current balance.

"4.7 million… Seems like it's time to get a car." I will check out the system shop later.

He turned and began heading east, where the Ferrari showroom sat like a beacon of luxury.

On the way, he caught his reflection in a shop window.

"People judge too much by appearances… I can't walk into a Ferrari dealership looking like this."

Then he remembered the largest, most luxurious mall in the city was right on the way. Perfect.

Inside the mall, he made a beeline for the Gucci store. As he stepped in, a wave of disdain greeted him.

"Beggers really have no shame," one saleswoman whispered loudly enough to be heard.

"Seriously. Can't people understand their own worth before walking in here?" another chimed in.

"It's probably some rich guy trying to act lowkey," a third one laughed sarcastically.

Ye Fan turned toward them calmly.

"If you don't welcome 'poor' people, why don't you put up a sign at the entrance?"

One of the women scoffed. "We don't need to. They usually know their place. You, though… you just can't face reality."

Ye Fan smirked.

"You mock me like you're the customer, but you work here—because you're not rich. That's your reality."

Their expressions twisted in fury. One of them picked up the phone and called security.

Rather than argue, Ye Fan simply left. He walked straight into a different high-end store—Empiria Luxe—where he was treated with courtesy and respect. The staff there welcomed him like royalty.

He browsed freely, picking outfits and accessories worth over 2 million yuan. The salespeople were ecstatic—his commission alone was more than some of their salaries for the whole year.

Word spread like wildfire. Other store staff, including the saleswomen from Gucci, crowded around Empiria Luxe, desperate to pull him into their shops.

When Ye Fan stepped out, dozens of eager smiles greeted him—but his gaze immediately landed on the familiar faces from earlier.

"Oh? Calling back the person you threw out just moments ago?" he said with a mocking tone.

The crowd's mood shifted instantly. The same disdain that had been pointed at him earlier was now aimed at them.

"We're sorry," one of the Gucci women said, voice trembling. "Please… please give us another chance. If not, we might lose our jobs…"

Ye Fan didn't spare them another glance. He changed into the outfit he liked most and casually told the Empiria Luxe staff to store the rest.

He couldn't exactly have them deliver to his dingy rented apartment.

With that, he exited the mall, pulling out his phone and opening up tabs to start comparing cars.

The game had just begun.
