Chapter 20 - Sky-Piercing Tower, First Meeting with Buck Niu

"You freshen up first, I'll go downstairs and make you something to eat."

Jack looked at Emily Carter, gently removed his hand from her hair, and smiled.

With that, he got up and headed downstairs.

He went into the kitchen to make her a bowl of century egg and lean pork congee with vegetables.

Washing the rice, chopping the vegetables, stewing the meat, peeling the century eggs, and then starting the fire to cook the porridge—Jack moved efficiently.

Before long, a steaming bowl of congee was ready.

Just then, Emily came downstairs and saw Jack walking out of the kitchen.

He was wearing a cute apron with a mischievous little bunny on it, holding a bowl of porridge in his hands, looking every bit the image of a domestic man. Emily couldn't help but giggle softly.

Jack saw her coming down the stairs, put down the bowl of porridge, took off the apron, and said with a smile,"Perfect timing. Drink it while it's hot."

Emily sat down, picked up the spoon beside her, scooped up a small spoonful, gently blew on it, and slowly placed it into her mouth.

"How does it taste?"Jack, sitting across from her, looked at Emily and asked with a smile.

As soon as the porridge entered her mouth, its rich flavor burst forth. Emily couldn't help but go for a second spoonful eagerly.

"Slow down, don't burn your mouth."Jack quickly warned when he saw her rushing.

Emily kept blowing on the spoonful of porridge while saying,"It's so delicious!"

"If you like it, have more. There's plenty in the kitchen, and no one's going to fight you for it."Jack grinned, watching her wolf it down.

Soon, Emily finished the entire bowl and ran to the kitchen to get another.

She only stopped after drinking three bowls, finally collapsing on the sofa with her hand on her stomach.

Seeing her completely unrestrained posture, Jack burst out laughing."Hahaha!"

Emily gave Jack a playful glare and pouted,"It's your fault for making something so delicious!"

"Yes, yes, my fault entirely."Jack chuckled and walked over to gently massage her stomach to help her digest.

After relaxing in the living room for a while, Jack and Emily returned to the bedroom, cuddled up, and chatted for a while.

The night passed peacefully.

The next morning, after breakfast, Jack took Emily in his Venom sports car and headed toward Sky-Piercing Tower. Ever since he acquired the building, he hadn't gotten around to visiting it. Now that he was free, it was the perfect time to check out this skyscraper that had taken Riverton by storm.

Jack's father had always dreamed of renting an office in Sky-Piercing Tower, but it wasn't just about having money—only those with real strength could operate there.

The top 100 companies in Riverton almost all had offices there. That alone spoke volumes about the tower's prestige.

They arrived at the building's parking lot.

Jack got out of the car, wrapped his arm around Emily's slim waist, and walked toward the main entrance.

Sky-Piercing Tower stood 900 meters tall, with 230 floors. Looking up from the base, it seemed to pierce right into the clouds. No wonder it was nicknamed "Heaven-Linking Tower."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk… That's tall,"Jack marveled as he stared at the towering structure.

Emily was equally amazed by the building's height.

The manager was already waiting at the door.

"Mr. Jack, I'm Wilson Quinn, the manager here."Wilson greeted Jack and Emily promptly.

"Take me to the office,"Jack replied.

Wilson led them into the private elevator reserved for the chairman.

The three of them ascended all the way to the 230th floor.

As they stepped out of the elevator, they were greeted by a resplendent office space that looked like it belonged to a royal palace—lavish and extravagant.

Emily stared in awe, her jaw nearly dropping. This office was even more luxurious than the palaces she'd seen on TV.

Even Jack had to admit—whoever designed this place definitely had a flair for the dramatic.

"You may leave. Don't bother me unless it's something important,"Jack said to Wilson without turning around.

"Yes, Mr. Jack,"Wilson nodded and headed back toward the elevator.

Jack pulled Emily close, standing in front of the enormous floor-to-ceiling window.

From here, the entire city of Riverton unfolded beneath their feet.

The whole city was in plain view—like the world was bowing to them.

Jack teased,"Beauty and empire, all in one."

Emily rolled her eyes dramatically."You really think you're some emperor, don't you?"

Seeing her cute expression, Jack burst out laughing."Hahaha!"

He lowered his head, kissed her forehead, and asked with a grin,"Say, what would it feel like to make love in a place like this?"

Emily gave him a playful slap and scolded,"You're terrible."

"Hahaha!"Jack laughed even harder.

"Wanna give it a try?"He said while letting his hands wander.

"No way!"Emily quickly broke free from his arms, fearing he might actually do something outrageous here.

Jack didn't insist, just smiled to himself.

At that moment, Jack's phone rang.

He frowned slightly when he saw the caller ID—Wilson again. Though annoyed, he still answered the call.

"Mr. Jack, I really had no choice but to call you,"Wilson began with a tone full of concern.

"Get to the point,"Jack said coldly. He didn't have time for Wilson's whining.

"Chairman Buck Niu of Buck Group heard you were in the building and would like to meet you."

"Buck Niu..."Jack muttered.

He knew of Buck Niu—chairman of one of Riverton's top companies. A slick, sociable man with a decent reputation.

Jack couldn't recall ever interacting with him, but since the man requested a meeting, he didn't see the harm.

"Bring him up,"Jack said plainly.

A moment later, the elevator doors opened.

Two men stepped out—Wilson and a man in his fifties wearing a traditional Chinese tunic suit. That was Buck Niu.

Buck was stunned by the grandeur of the office. This was the true power of the man who owned Sky-Piercing Tower—utterly overwhelming.

When he saw how young Jack looked, he was taken aback. He'd heard Jack was young, but this was far beyond what he imagined. Still, he dared not underestimate him.

Buck stepped forward, bent slightly at the waist, and said ingratiatingly,"Mr. Jack, it's a pleasure. I'm Buck Niu."
