Chapter 6 - A spark of attraction

Emily felt comfortable and at ease as she decided to steer the conversation towards more lighthearted topics.

She didn't want to go too deeply into her creative passions, fearing that Ryan might think she was too intense or serious or even a workaholic.

"So, how's your day been so far?" Emily asked, trying to sound casual.

Ryan smiled, seeming to sense the shift in Emily's mood. "It's been great, thanks for asking," he said. "I had a good breakfast, and then I got to enjoy the beautiful morning walk here."

As they chatted, Emily started to feel more at ease.

She was grateful that Ryan seemed willing to adapt to her changing mood.

Just as things were starting to feel more relaxed, Ryan asked Emily a question that caught her off guard.

"What do you like to do for fun?" Ryan asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Emily laughed nervously, trying to deflect the question. "Oh, I don't really have time for fun," she said, waving her hand dismissively. "I'm always busy with work and other stuff."

Ryan raised an eyebrow, looking amused. "No time for fun?" he repeated. "That's no good. Everyone needs a little bit of fun in their life."

Emily felt a twinge of embarrassment, realizing that her attempt to deflect the question hadn't quite worked.

"I guess you're right," she said, smiling sheepishly. "I just get really caught up in my daily routine."

Ryan nodded understandingly. "I know how that is," he said.

"But sometimes it's good to shake things up and try something new. Would you like to try something new with me?"

Emily's saw herself being too curious, and she wanted to know more about what Ryan had in mind.

"What did you have in mind?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.

Ryan grinned mischievously. "I was thinking we could take a walk in the park," he said.

"It's a beautiful day out, and it would be nice to get some fresh air."

Emily considered the suggestion for a moment.

A walk in the beach sounded like a lovely idea, and it would give her a chance to spend more time with Ryan.

Emily smiled, feeling excited and adventurous. "That sounds lovely," she said. "I'd love to go for a walk with you."

Ryan's face lit up with a warm smile. "Great," he said. "I'll just grab the check and we can head out."

As Ryan paid for their coffee, Emily found herself anticipating.

She was really enjoying Ryan's company, and she was excited to see where their walk in the beach might lead.

As they strolled through the beach, Emily felt a wave of ease and comfort with Ryan that she hadn't expected.

They talked and laughed together, enjoying the beautiful scenery and each other's company.

Emily turned to Ryan with a smile. "Hey, I'm having such a great time today," she said. "Would you like to grab lunch or dinner with me? I'd love to keep the day going."

Ryan's face lit up with a warm smile. "I'd love to," he said. "How about we grab lunch at that new bistro that just opened up downtown?"

Emily felt her palms becoming sweaty as she agreed, feeling of excitement and anticipation eroded her.

As they walked to the bistro, Emily couldn't help but wonder where the rest of the day might lead.

As they sat down at a cozy table by the window, Ryan reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair out of Emily's face.

The touch sent shivers down her spine, and Emily felt a spark of attraction that she couldn't ignore.

Emily smiled warmly at Ryan, feeling grateful for the gentle touch.

"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're very kind."

Ryan smiled back at her, giving a chuckling sound. "You're welcome," he said. "I just wanted to make sure you didn't have any hair in your face."

Emily laughed, feeling loved and better. "I appreciate that," she said.

"So, what's good here? Have you been to this bistro before?"

As they checked out the menu and chatted about their food options, Emily got the best feeling comfort and relaxation with Ryan.

She was glad she had suggested grabbing lunch together – it was turning out to be a lovely afternoon.

As they waited for their food to arrive, Emily and Ryan continued to chat and laugh together.

They talked about everything from their favorite TV shows to their childhood memories, and Emily felt like she was getting to know Ryan on a deeper level.

When their food arrived, Emily was impressed by the delicious smells and flavors.

She and Ryan dug in, savoring their meals and continuing to chat.

As they ate, Emily couldn't help but notice the way Ryan's eyes sparkled when he laughed, or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck.

She felt a flutter in her chest, and suddenly, she was aware of a strong attraction to Ryan.

She hadn't expected to feel such a strong attraction to him, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for a romantic connection.

Emily tried to push aside her doubts and focus on the conversation, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty. She started to wonder if she was just caught up in the moment, or if there was something more to her feelings.

Ryan, sensing Emily's sudden unease, reached out and gently touched her hand. "Hey, is everything okay?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern.

Emily quickly brushed off Ryan's concern, trying to maintain a carefree facade. "Oh, yeah, everything's fine," she said, forcing a smile. "I just got a little lost in thought, that's all."

Ryan looked at her skeptically, but didn't push the issue. "Okay, if you're sure," he said, withdrawing his hand.

Emily felt a pang of disappointment at the loss of physical contact, but she tried to shake it off. She didn't want to give Ryan the wrong idea or make things awkward between them.

As they finished their lunch and prepared to part ways, Ryan turned to Emily and asked, "Would you like to grab dinner with me sometime this week?"

Emily found her heart beating faster than usual and her pulse increasing to the apex as she considered Ryan's invitation. She had enjoyed their lunch together, and the thought of spending more time with him was tantalizing. "I'd love to," she said, trying to sound casual despite her growing excitement.

Ryan's face lit up with a warm smile. "Great," he said. "How about Wednesday night? I know a great Italian place downtown."

Emily nodded, feeling a sense of anticipation building inside her. "Wednesday sounds perfect," she said.

As they exchanged numbers and made plans for Wednesday, Emily couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and possibility. She had no idea what the future held, but she was eager to find out.

The next few days flew by in a blur as Emily found herself counting down the hours until her dinner date with Ryan. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation, wondering what the evening might hold.
