Chapter 10 - RESILIENCES

That morning, the hallway was still quiet. Suddenly, Sam Artur came running, chased by Mick Hyuri, who looked annoyed.

"Sam! I said borrow the book, not throw it!" Mick shouted.

Sam laughed as he rushed into class, followed by Mick. When they entered, they saw Noel sitting alone at his desk.

Mick glanced around. "Hey, where's Eren?"

Noel was busy reading his comic. "He didn't feel like waking up early, so we left him."

Sam grinned. "Don't tell me he—"

Noel blurted out, "He drank a bit last night…" then quickly corrected himself, "I mean, he took sleeping pills. To rest early."

Mick raised an eyebrow, then let out a small chuckle. "Figures."

Outside the school gate, Eren was talking to the guard, trying to get in.

"Come on, sir. Just a little late," he said with a calm smile.

After a few seconds, the guard gave in. Eren parked his Vespa and began walking toward the school building.

But just as he entered the main path, a group of guys blocked his way. Leading them was Edy Sion, one of Zico Palma's notorious lackeys.

"Eren Yeager, right?" Edy said, folding his arms. "Let's settle things today. Don't act tough in this school."

Eren looked at him flatly. "Sorry, don't know who you are. And now you want a fight? I just don't wanna be late."

Edy suddenly shoved Eren hard. The school started buzzing with students watching from the windows above, cheering like an arena crowd.

Mick Hyuri, watching from a window, muttered, "Edy Sion… he's done for."

Sam Artur added, "He laid hands on Eren? Poor guy doesn't know who he's messing with."

Up on the school rooftop, Zico Palma and Fayo Nickle were watching it all unfold. Fayo chuckled, "Look at this morning drama."

Zevanya sat at her desk, concern in her eyes. Ariana also peeked out a window, her gaze locked on Eren.

Edy lunged again with a punch, but Eren dodged effortlessly. He calmly set his bag down and stood ready.

Edy had no idea—

Eren is a national martial arts champion.

And now, he just lit a fire he can't put out.

Cheers erupted louder from the upper-floor windows. Students shouted, some already had their phones out, recording the scene. A few even started whispering bets among themselves.

"I'm putting fifty on Edy!"

"I'm backing the new guy—Eren's cool!"

Down below, Yeager stood calmly in front of Edy Sion. His eyes were focused, posture relaxed, but clearly prepared.

Edy shrugged and sneered, "You're way too chill. Haven't tasted my punches yet, huh?"

Yeager gave a slight smirk. "Give it a try."

Without warning, Edy lunged and threw a punch toward Yeager's face. In one swift motion, Yeager tilted his body, dodging effortlessly, deflected the arm, and pushed Edy back a step.

The crowd roared.

"WOAH! That was slick!"

Edy gritted his teeth. He charged again, throwing a combo of punches and a kick. But every move was read easily by Yeager. With precise footwork, he slipped around Edy's attacks, spun to the side, then—

BAM!

A clean punch landed straight in Edy's gut, knocking the air out of him and forcing him back, gasping.

"You talk too much," Yeager said flatly. "But you're just Zico's puppet."

From above, Mick Hyuri crossed his arms and muttered, "He's not just some transfer kid..."

Zico Palma, watching from the rooftop, narrowed his eyes. Fayo beside him clicked his tongue. "So that's the guy you're worried about?"

Yeager calmly walked over to where he'd dropped his bag, picked it up like nothing had happened.

"I've wasted enough time," he said.

Edy, still groaning, couldn't get back up right away. His cronies looked shaken—they hadn't expected the new kid to win this quickly.

Yeager glanced up at the crowd watching from the windows.

"If you're recording, make it clear," he said. "So everyone knows—I'm not here to be messed with."

And without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving Edy on the ground—and a stunned school slowly realizing…

This new kid wasn't ordinary.

The video of the fight spread like wildfire. Within minutes, nearly every student—and even some teachers—had seen the footage of Yeager squaring off against Edy Sion. Comments flooded group chats:

> "Damn, the new kid held his ground against Edy?"

> "Edy dropped with one hit?!"

> "That's Eren? They say his real name is Yeager... this guy's scary."

That afternoon, the atmosphere in the counseling room was tense. Yeager sat calmly, hands on his lap, expression unreadable. Across from him, Edy Sion sat breathing heavily, a small cut visible on his temple.

The school counselor stood in front of them, arms crossed. "Do you two realize what you did this morning? This school is not a boxing arena."

Edy scoffed and glared at Yeager. "He was looking for attention."

Yeager looked back at him, voice calm. "I was just walking. He blocked my way and threw the first punch."

The counselor rubbed her temples, clearly frustrated. "Enough. Both of you will have to bring your parents. You're suspended for one day and banned from all school activities temporarily."

Yeager didn't argue. He simply stood and asked, "Can I go now?"

"The bell hasn't rung yet," the counselor replied.

Yeager gave a small nod and sat back down, eyes drifting toward the window, lost in thought.

Edy lowered his head, sneaking a glance at Yeager—part anger, part fear. This new guy... wasn't someone to mess with.

Outside the room, someone watched silently through the glass window, a faint smirk on their face.

Raon Muro.

From behind the glass wall of the counseling room, Raon Muro leaned casually against the hallway wall. His sharp eyes watched the two people inside—Edy Sion, who still looked pissed, and Yeager, sitting calmly like nothing had happened.

Standing next to Raon was Fayo Nickle, one hand tucked in his jacket pocket, the other holding an earphone.

"Heh, I think Edy got too cocky," Fayo muttered while eyeing the room.

Raon glanced at him. "He always acts tough. But this time he picked the wrong target."

Fayo let out a short laugh. "Eren, huh? That new kid… he's definitely not ordinary."

Raon didn't reply, just gave a thin smirk.

Fayo added, "I liked watching him beat the crap out of Edy. But if he starts digging too deep about us… that's gonna be a problem."

Raon replied softly, almost whispering, "Don't worry. We're used to dealing with nosy people. If he gets too close to the truth… we know what to do, don't we?"

Fayo gave a slow nod. His gaze shifted back to the room. Yeager still sat there quietly, but to them, he was already disturbing the balance of the system within the school.

And that system… wasn't something you messed with.

That afternoon, the school cafeteria was buzzing with noise. The clinking of cutlery, footsteps, and students laughing blended into a typical lunch rush. Yeager sat in a corner with Noel and Zevanya. Trays of food were laid out neatly in front of them.

Zevanya seemed distracted. She kept glancing toward the cafeteria entrance as if waiting for someone.

Yeager raised an eyebrow. "Why do you keep looking around? Waiting for someone, Van?"

Zevanya quickly lowered her head and started eating without answering. Noel, on the other hand, blurted out innocently, "Zevanya likes Mick."

Zevanya immediately elbowed Noel gently, her face turning red. "Noel!"

Right at that moment, Mick Hyuri and Sam Artur walked into the cafeteria. Mick strolled casually with his hands in his pockets, while Sam immediately waved toward their table.

"Yo, Eren!" Sam called out. "Mind if we sit here?"

Yeager nodded casually. "Go ahead, as long as you don't mess with Noel's lunch."

Mick sat beside Yeager, and Sam, full of energy, took a seat across from Zevanya. Zevanya instantly straightened up, visibly flustered.

Yeager noticed and smirked slightly. He realized something—his sister was definitely going through the teen crush phase.

Sam, completely unaware, teased her. "Wow, you're super quiet today, Van. Usually you talk a lot."

Zevanya stammered, "N-No, not really…"

Mick glanced at her briefly, then took a sip of his drink. "You guys are too loud for lunch," he muttered in his usual calm tone.

Yeager leaned back in his chair, whispering to Noel, "The high school drama never ends, huh."

And deep down, he knew… these personal connections might just lead him closer to the bigger mystery surrounding this school.

That night, the air was chilly. At the police station, officers moved briskly through the halls. Yeager walked in quickly, still wearing his slightly rumpled school uniform. He headed straight to a small office where David, Darren, and Valerie were going over some reports.

David looked up when he saw Yeager enter. "You should be resting, Yeager, not showing up here this late."

Yeager stood firmly, his expression serious. "There's a parent meeting tomorrow because of the fight earlier. I need a guardian... and I want you guys to be there."

Darren immediately stood up, visibly annoyed. "This is why I told you not to stir up trouble, Yeager! If your identity gets exposed, who's going to be responsible?!"

Yeager looked down slightly, then replied, "I was just defending myself. Besides... people are already watching me. This is part of blending in."

Valerie crossed her arms, eyeing him sharply. "You've gotten more than enough attention at school. One more slip, and they'll start asking questions."

Yeager looked at each of them before locking eyes with David. "Come on. I don't have anyone else to stand in as my guardian. If not you... then who? I need you, David. You're the only one who can do this."

David sighed and stared at Yeager for a long moment.

"…Alright. But this is the last time. After this, you need to lay low, got it?"

Yeager nodded right away. "Got it, bro."

Darren grumbled, dropping back into his chair. "This kid's gonna give me high blood pressure."

Valerie gave a faint smile and muttered, "Just don't cause another scene tomorrow, school detective

That morning in the school meeting room, the atmosphere was tense. Several teachers and parents had taken their seats. At the front row sat Yeager, neatly dressed in his school uniform, with David seated beside him, acting as his guardian.

One of the teachers began the meeting formally, "We are here to discuss the fight that occurred yesterday morning involving a new student…"

Several eyes turned toward Yeager. Another teacher added, "The student known as Eren Yeager."

David gave a slight nod. A teacher flipped through a file and said, "The student's real name is listed as Yeager Phit, a transfer student with high academic performance, but he was involved in a fight with Edy Sion."

David immediately spoke, "I'm Yeager's guardian. What happened yesterday was self-defense. If you review the video footage carefully, you'll see who started it."

A concerned parent chimed in, "Still, violence of any kind shouldn't be tolerated on school grounds."

Yeager sat quietly, calm but clearly holding himself back.

The school counselor looked at Yeager, "We just want to ensure this doesn't happen again. Does Yeager—or Eren, whichever name he goes by—understand his responsibilities and the consequences as a student here?"

Yeager slowly raised his head, "I understand. But I also want you to know—I won't stand by and watch while others get bullied."

The room went silent for a moment. Valerie, sitting at the corner, kept her gaze fixed on Yeager, while David leaned back in his chair and muttered under his breath, "This kid… he's different."

The meeting continued, but it was clear—Eren Yeager, also known as Yeager Phit, was starting to catch the attention of many in this school.

After the meeting ended and the parents and teachers started leaving the room, David, Yeager, and Valerie walked out together. The tension had eased a little.

Yeager nudged David with a sly grin. "Thanks, my friend… I liked your style back there, all classy and serious. Looked like you owned the place."

David chuckled. "That's because I do."

Valerie walked beside them, glancing at Yeager who looked unusually confident. Yeager turned to her, smiling mischievously.

"Valerie," he said casually, "wanna go on a date with me tonight?"

Valerie crossed her arms, expression flat. "You're seriously asking a federal detective out… right after your school fight hearing?"

Yeager didn't back down. "Exactly. So I don't seem too wild, I need someone to balance me out. And that's you."

David tried not to laugh. "Damn, you really just went for it, huh?"

Valerie sighed, but there was a small smile at the corner of her lips. "I'll think about it. But don't get your hopes up, Eren Yeager."

Yeager replied smoothly, "Real name's Yeager Phit. You can call me either—just for you."

David raised a brow. "Man… you seriously have no shame."

The three of them laughed as they walked toward the parking lot. The tension was gone for now, though the school's mysteries were far from over.

Suddenly, a faint creak echoed from behind the wall, making all three of them freeze. David immediately turned sharply, and Valerie instinctively reached inside her jacket—ready for anything.

"Come out," David said firmly. "I know you're eavesdropping."

A few seconds of silence… then, from behind a corner pillar, two familiar figures appeared: Mick Hyuri and Sam Artur.

Sam looked awkward, scratching his head with a sheepish grin. "Hehe… bro, we weren't eavesdropping exactly, just… passing by…"

Mick stood still, his eyes locked onto Yeager. "So… you're a detective? And your real name is Yeager Phit?"

Yeager sighed softly, crossing his arms. "What you heard isn't meant to be shared, Mick."

Sam stepped closer, expression mixed with awe and confusion. "Whoa, seriously… the new guy who eats with us, fought Edy Sion, turns out to be an undercover detective? I thought you were just some chill dude."

Valerie looked at both of them sharply. "What you heard stays here. Or we'll consider you part of the investigation."

Mick scoffed quietly. "I don't care if you're a detective or an alien, just don't cause trouble for the people I care about."

Yeager met his gaze and smiled slightly. "Don't worry. As long as you're not part of the dirty game, we're on the same side."

Sam nodded quickly. "Alright, deal. Your secret's safe. But damn… that's crazy."

David growled under his breath. "Enough drama. Let's get out of here before the whole school finds out you're Phit."

Yeager chuckled, glancing at Valerie. "Look at that. I'm becoming famous."

Valerie rolled her eyes. "I'm already regretting turning down that date."

Yeager strode quickly through the hallway with Mick Hyuri and Sam Artur by his side. The school was getting busier as lunch break approached, but Yeager's eyes stayed sharp, focused.

As they passed Zevanya's classroom, he suddenly stopped. Without a word, he pushed open the door and walked in.

Lina and her friends looked up. Lina was casually playing on her phone when Yeager asked, his tone cold, "Where's Zevanya?"

Lina didn't respond, pretending not to hear.

Yeager stepped closer, his voice firmer. "Don't make me ask twice."

Lina sat up straighter, ready to act tough, but one look into Yeager's intense gaze shut her up. Mick and Sam stood at the doorway, watching with quiet pressure.

Cornered by the tension, Lina finally mumbled, "She's on the rooftop. Zico Palma and Fayo Nickle took her there…"

Without another word, Yeager turned and sprinted out of the room. Mick and Sam followed right behind him.

Ariana, who had just been walking nearby, caught a glimpse of the tense exchange. Her brows furrowed, and without hesitating, she decided to follow them too, walking briskly with no questions asked.

The staircase to the rooftop came into view. Yeager's heartbeat pounded louder. One thought raced in his mind—protect Zevanya, no matter what.
