Chapter 1 - Born as a Goddess

Misty had lived a life of quiet solitude. Orphaned birth, she had never known the warmth of a family. Yet, in the absence of parents, she found solace in her studies and, most importantly, in the five friends who stood by her side. Together, they were her everything—her family, her strength, her joy.

She had always been an exemplary student—sharp, dedicated, and compassionate. In a small town nestled between fields and forests, Misty was a beacon of intelligence and grace. But, despite her outward happiness, there was an undercurrent of unease within her, a quiet, lingering fear that her contentment was nothing more than a fleeting illusion.

Though she did not yet understand the source of her discomfort, Misty had always sensed that her life was not as it seemed. She could never shake the feeling that something was missing, something hidden just beyond her reach. Still, she lived her life as best she could, savoring every moment with her friends, whose loyalty and companionship filled the empty space in her heart.

But everything changed one fateful afternoon, when she and her five friends set out to conduct research for their school project. As they ventured into the woods, the air thick with excitement, an unexplainable accident occurred—a crash, a blur of motion, and then… darkness.

When Misty awoke, the world around her had shifted. She found herself lying on the cold, unforgiving ground, her head throbbing with pain. Her eyes fluttered open, and what she saw made her blood run cold—her friends, her beloved family, were sprawled across the earth, lifeless. Blood pooled beneath them, their faces frozen in expressions of shock and terror.

"No," Misty whispered, her voice trembling. She crawled toward them, desperate to rouse them from their stupor. But no matter how hard she tried, there was no response. The world around her seemed to disappear, as if it had never existed.

As the darkness threatened to overtake her, a sudden, brilliant light engulfed her, casting everything in a surreal glow. Misty blinked against the brightness, trying to make sense of the scene before her. When her eyes adjusted, she gasped in disbelief. Standing before her were five magnificent figures—goddesses, their forms radiant and powerful.

The goddess of fire, her hair a blazing mane of crimson, stepped forward first, her fiery eyes locking onto Misty's. The goddess of water, with hair like flowing waves, followed closely, her expression serene and wise. The goddess of earth stood like an unyielding mountain, her presence grounding and calm. The goddess of wind, her form ethereal and graceful, hovered like a whisper on the breeze. Finally, the goddess of light, her presence both gentle and profound, stood as the guiding force behind them all.

Misty, overwhelmed and shaken, struggled to make sense of what was happening. "Who are you?" she demanded, her voice trembling. "What happened to my friends? Where are they?"

The goddess of water spoke first, her voice soft and soothing. "We are the Five Elements. Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and light. We are the creators of the universe, and we have watched over the world since its inception."

Misty's heart raced as she looked from one goddess to the next. "No... I don't understand," she whispered. "What do you mean? My friends… they were real. They were my family. Where are they?"

The goddess of earth, her voice firm yet kind, responded. "Your friends, Misty, were not as you believe them to be. They were created by us—figures made of light and essence, designed to teach you what it means to live as a human."

Misty's breath caught in her throat. "No… that can't be true. They were real to me. They were my family."

Tears began to well in her eyes, her world crumbling around her. "Why would you do this to me?" she cried. "Why would you take them from me? They were the only family I had!"

The goddess of fire stepped forward, her voice full of sorrow. "Misty, we did not create them to hurt you. They were placed in your life to help you understand your human existence. But now, it is time for you to embrace your true nature. You are no ordinary human, Misty. You are one of us."

Misty staggered back, her mind spinning. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper. "What am I?"

"You are a goddess, Misty," the spirit goddess said gently. "Like us. You have always been a part of this realm, but your human life was but a fleeting experience. You were never meant to live as a human forever."

The goddess of light, her presence radiating peace, spoke with quiet authority. "We have been waiting for you, Misty. For you to come into your power and understand your true purpose. But you must now face the truth."

Misty's world turned upside down as the weight of their words sank in. She was no longer just a girl from a small town—she was a being of great power, a goddess with a destiny far greater than she could have ever imagined.

"But my friends..." she began, her voice shaking. "What happens to them? They were my family. Please, don't take them from me."

The goddess of water lowered her gaze, sorrow in her eyes. "They were created to help you understand humanity, Misty. But their time has come to an end. It is impossible for them to live beyond their purpose."

"No!" Misty cried, falling to her knees. "Please… I can't live without them. They were all I had."

Misty sobbed, her body trembling as she clutched her chest. The realization that she was no longer human, that she could never return to the life she had known, crushed her. But more than that, the unbearable truth that her friends—the only family she had ever known—were gone shattered her completely.

"Please..." Her voice cracked as she looked up at the five goddesses, her eyes swollen with grief. "Don't take them from me... They were real. They were my everything!"

The goddesses, beings who had long existed beyond mortal emotions, stood silent, watching her fall apart before them. They had never known human sorrow, never felt the weight of loss like she did, but in this moment, they understood its power.

The Goddess of Water, the strictest among them, felt a strange tightness in her chest. She had always been the most disciplined, the one who carried the burden of duty without question. But seeing Misty in such anguish stirred something deep within her, something she could not ignore.

"Sisters," she spoke at last, her voice uncharacteristically gentle. "This pain... it is unlike anything we have known. She has lived as a human for too long. To take everything from her all at once—it is too cruel."

The Goddess of Wind, who had been watching with her usual ethereal grace, clenched her fists. "We cannot force her into this! She never asked for this fate! How can we call ourselves divine if we rob her of her will?"

The goddesses exchanged glances. Never before had they questioned their purpose, but Misty's sorrow made them hesitate. Finally, the Goddess of Light, the eldest among them, spoke. "Then we shall offer her a choice."

Misty sniffled, looking up through tear-stained lashes as the Goddess of Earth stepped forward, her voice steady. "Misty, we will allow your friends to live again. But there is a price. You must embrace your divine nature. You are the Goddess of Spirit, and you have a duty to fulfill."

Misty's breath caught. "What... what do you mean?"

The Goddess of Fire, who had been silent until now, crossed her arms. "You will be given five lifetimes. Five chances to live as a human. But after your final life ends, you must return to us, accept your role, and fulfill your destiny. There will be no more chances after that."

Misty's heart pounded in her chest. Five lifetimes... It wasn't the same as getting her old life back, but it was something. She could still be human for a while longer. She could still be with them.

But deep inside, fear clawed at her. No matter how many lifetimes she lived, the end was inevitable. One day, she would have to say goodbye to everything she had ever loved.

Her hands curled into fists. "If I accept this... then my friends will come back? They'll be real?" Her voice wavered with desperation.

The Goddess of Water nodded. "Yes. But once your five lifetimes are over, you must return to us."

A long silence followed. Misty swallowed hard. She had no choice. Even if a part of her screamed in protest, she knew she couldn't refuse.

"...I accept."

The words left her lips like a whisper, yet they echoed in the vast space around her. The goddesses closed their eyes, their forms glowing as they cast their divine will. Misty watched as the golden light swirled, growing brighter and brighter, until it consumed everything.

And then—darkness.

Her fate had been sealed
