Daniel looked ecstatic upon seeing Steve and of course to Steve the feeling was mutual.Daniel was about to move out of the bed before he felt a numb feeling originating from his dantian.He let out an "ouch", before the attendant who had moved to his laptop on a table at the otherside stood up and immediately came to checkup on him.
"You shouldn't twist or turn your body as you have taken the 1 step pain adjusting pill"The attendant said as he made Daniel lie down on the bed.
Steve was a bit surprised when he heard the doctor say Daniel had been fed a 1 step pain adjusting pill.This pill was given to people who were going through immense pain at once and were thus created to limit the pain for an extensive period continuously for a long time for the pain to recede.
Although it took time,this was naturally better than having to go through a lot of pain at once.He immediately knew why Daniel was put in that pod which was used to check statistics of the persons body rather than going through the process of actively involving the sick person physically.
Steve naturally went to sit down as he naturally did not want to involve Daniel in anymore conversation.He just told him to rest well and that Steve's mother will come and pick them the next day.Daniel looked a little worried still so Steve asked him why and Daniel answered,though a bit slow
"The maid at ho-homee will su-surely tell my parents that I had played s-stubborn and I will be made to cu-cultivate for a whole year and as our awakening period will naturally be arriving at that time"
Steve smiled when he heard the reason why Daniel was worried.This guy was still thinking about the punishment of just cultivation he would recieve when he reached home.Though he wanted to laugh,he refrained from it and acknowledged to help him,
"Don't worry,I will let my mom speak a word for you okay,so no worries okay.After all this was just some minor issue and well be going the next morning".
Daniel was about to speak again but the attendant turned to look at him with a warning gaze which made both Daniel and Steve immediately end their conversation prematurely.
After some time,a woman dressed like a maid with a tray holding her entered the room.She removing the covering of the tray and placed the tray on a table to the side and told Steve this was his meal for the night as he and Daniel were naturally staying here for the night thus he needed to feed himself very well.
However after she placed the tray on the table,she asked Steve if he would want to eat now which made Steve think for a moment.It wasn't that he was still angry from the aftermath of the previous occasion but he was truly not hungry and he also didn't eat outside pretty much except for certain occasions which were important.He just didn't want to make things harder for Mr Simon's as they had already done enough to show their sincerity towards the mistake his guard had made thus he just nodded.
Upon seeing Steve nod,the maie who was pretty much nervous waiting for Steve's response smiled and immediately began to serve Steve.She picked up a plate and some cutlery from the tray she had brought and served Steve his own share.Steve only stared at the food for sometime before he begun to munch on it.
He didn't know if it was his reluctance to eat outside food or what but immediately after he swallowed the food,he felt as if his pores were literally screaming
'What the hell did you just eat now!!!'
Ofcourse he dropped those thoughts and came back to his self and immediately focused on what was on the plate.He only saw the normal fish he previously knew he was eating but upon closer inspection he could see the fish was glistening a bit which surprised him.
He couldn't hide his curiosity as he lost any intention of eating at the moment and was about to ask the maid what it was but the maid simply made him pause.
"Please don't stop eating and continue or this dishes effects will be lost"said the maid.
The maid seemed to have gotten a bit bold as the maid warned Steve and he also smiled as he noticed this maid's tension seemed to have dissipated when she received a good response from Steve about the food.Steve soon regained his eating marathon as he held full anticipation towards the dish.
The maid upon seeing Steve dig back into his food smiled and continued as she spoke with more confidence,
"My boss said this was his gift for you as the previous reward isn't going to provide any immediate benefits thus this suggestion.He hopes you can forgive him and take this as a token of appreciation".
After saying this,she left the room without explaining what Steve's gift was.Steve naturally knew her boss was Mr Simon and she was probably going to report what happened to him so he didn't stop her to ask anything.
As they said,it was a gift so he should naturally see what this gift was going to unfold.Steve immediately finished his meal and was about to look for the maid to give her the dishes however,he began to feel drowsy as if he had drank a hundred boxes with bottles of alcohol.
He placed his plate aside and began to inspect his own body.However it couldn't be helped as the drowsiness kept pulling him to the dreamland he always visited at night.Though this time was not the correct time for visiting,Steve still couldn't hold on and felt asleep in a matter of seconds.
Although this premature bedtime was unwelcome,Steve still harboured great thoughts as he heard the words of the maid echo in his head,
'This is a gift from my boss'
Which made Steve fall into a trance as he thought
Is this really a gift????OR...
He couldn't continue his train of thought as the world infront of him immediately blacked out.
