Anna's expression hardened.
"I'm not divided, Kate. I'm very sure of my choice!"
Kate opened her mouth to say something when Adonis came into the living room, announcing her father's arrival. He had already come in and was in Ian's room.
Anna got up hurriedly and ran in. She hugged her father and took him up to his room, promising Ian that she would return it to him in a few minutes. As soon as she had locked the door from the inside, she gazed longingly into her father's eyes, which were a mirror image of her own.
"How are my children? How did you manage to save them all from Adam's threat?" Anna reminded herself that she had to pretend to believe that lie.
Anna's father spent the next half hour explaining everything that had happened. Anna became pensive. So everyone already knew that Adam had never actually put his family at risk. And knowing that made her heart soften for him. He was so desperate to get her back that he didn't care if everyone thought the worst of him. That was love.
"I'm staying with Ian now." Anna's father said with a smile. "You should look in the closet. I brought a present with me in the trunk, and Adonis helped me bring it here without being seen. He also removed the cameras from this room. Then we'll put them back. Be quick." He said and left.
Anna went to the closet and opened it. Max was inside. She felt a warmth invade her whole body. A peace came over her as she stared into those eyes, which, although they were almost the same shade as Adam's, were even more loving. She would never confuse them. He came out of the closet and hugged her tightly, as if he could take with him the essence of the woman he loved.
"You forgot this." He said, handing her the medication the doctor had prescribed for her, along with all the instructions.
"Adam was supposed to make an appointment for me today..."
"You don't have to tell him you already have the medication. Keep up the charade and go with him to the doctor, if he remembers that detail. He's very busy at the moment."
"Aren't you worried that he might get hurt?"
"No. He's Alpha. Let's enjoy our time together while you don't start taking your medication. If he asks you anything, tell him our mother sent it to your father, and he brought it to you."
"Max... He knows you're here. I think Dad ended up telling him."
Max stared at her, the smile fading from his face.
"Then it won't be easy to find us. He'll be watching you all the time."
"Yes. He's already doing that."
"We need to find a way for you to get out of here."
"You can come and see me, right here like you did today..."
"That's impossible. Today is a different day. Adam has other occupations and is distracted. That doesn't happen often, and Adonis has turned off all the cameras. You can't get in here without being detected. Adam would realize that the cameras have been turned off."
"There's a chapel here, on the estate. If you come with Dad, as you did today, we can meet there. There are no cameras there. And Adam won't stop me from praying."
"That might be a good idea... But I need you to come, at least one day a week, to meet me."
"Why? What's going on?"
Max took her by the hand and they both sat down on her bed. There, Max confessed his sin to Anna, and listened to her confessions. They told each other everything. But even so, their love didn't diminish, and they both forgave each other. They had quick but efficient sex. And when Max hurriedly put on his clothes, Anna looked at him with a worried look.
"I'll find a way to get there... But it'll take a few days... I need to talk to Tayme... I hope my children haven't inherited this genetic heritage from you."
"They probably have. But that only reveals itself when you're faced with loneliness. I'll make sure that none of the three of you go through that. Even if you have to pay to be loved."
"I never stopped loving you. You knew I wasn't leaving of my own free will."
"Anna... Don't lie with Adam again, or I'll kill him with my bare hands. Don't drink anything with narcotics in it again.
Anna's father arrived at that moment and hurriedly asked Max to leave. He didn't even allow them to say goodbye.
As soon as they left, Adonis came in and set up the cameras, and only had time to smile at Anna and wink at her, before rushing off.
Anna didn't say it, but she loved knowing that she could count on Adonis' help to meet Max. Of course, she understood that it wouldn't be an easy task, as Adam was watching her every move through Adonis. She would need to find a way to deliver her messages without Adam noticing through Adonis' senses.
With that problem solved, she needed to think about Tayme. She felt worried about her daughter because of the things she had said to Max. Unlike the three boys, Tayme looked a lot like her, and it seemed that she had inherited the gift of sight.
Anna needed to find a discreet way to go to where her family was living, but to do that, she would have to get back into bed with Adam. He wouldn't allow her to leave without anything in return. But this time, she would make a deal with him. She wouldn't allow them to be filmed, and Max would never know about her betrayal. And that would be the secret she would take to her grave.
Anna went to Ian's room, and he was distracted, playing violent games, and paid no attention to her. So she decided that she would go back to see Sarah, but she couldn't find Adonis, and none of the other men agreed to accompany her there.
Anna knew that she couldn't leave without the escort of a convoy, and she resigned herself when one of them said that they couldn't fail to ensure the safety of Ian and the other inhabitants of the house because of something that could wait. They were short of men, since most of them were at war outside. Anna could hear gunfire in the distance and said a prayer that Adam would return unharmed.
When she entered the kitchen, Kate was drinking cognac again and talking to Judith.
